the teleportation animation was like 'omg how did they do that, that must have taken ages!'. Or maybe it's just be being too lazy and hating animations-- who knows?

Actually, they are using a script I made called "character transitions". I'm glad to see it being used.

I just finished Arc V, just then.
I never spoilt the fun by coming here until I had finished it, so I also just read all the Arc V posts.
I too was not expecting #%%@#& to be Sparrow.
The said revamp of the older Arcs and joining into a super pack is an excellent idea as one of the problems I had is continueing from one Arc to the next. The story is very good, it took me a while to get used to the idea of all the different races dead/living all together in piece but it all turned into a wonderful unique story. I thought as I played through (or watched) Stoic's past that it could easily been attached to the begining of the game and made into an extra few hours of game play (like more interaction), the game would then be a true epic tale like no other, but thats my opinion only and I supose you have your own idea of where the game is heading in the future, which ever way it goes, I for one will be there to play it.

The reason for putting it at the start is so the whole human/skeleton thing is introduced gradually and would not be such a shock as it was for me to have such an unusaul team fighting together. (would be a ship load of work so I understand if it would not be a priority).

Job well done to both Volrath and ArtBane, this was (and is) one of the best games I have played, both commercial and Indie. See you somethime in 09....

Hmm... Maybe somebody could make an "Episode" of this, you know like MotWFan did for Vec and the Golems. Check out Solest Forums.

Hmm...it's an interesting idea, but putting Stoic's flashbacks at the beginning would have gone against one of my fundamental ideas about storytelling...that flashbacks too soon are a bad idea. If players are not attached to Stoic's character, the reaction will probably be "Why should I care about this dude with a goatee?" I guess the concept of a walking, talking skeleton is a little odd, but I think that's okay for the beginning of a game, as long as information explaining it comes gradually.

As far as a fangame set within the backstory, that would be awesome. Like Bruno said, we have a thread over at the MotW forums about that if anyone's interested. We would provide necessary sprites to anyone who had made a commitment.

I read the interview between you two and sixty, and I remember that you Volrath would send Artbane word files of the text. This led me to think that you may still have the word files, and if so I was wondering if it'd be possible to share them with us. Either that, or edit them all into a full-blown book in the future (and get it published maybe..?)

It's actually one BIG word file, and I doubt it would be especially interesting to read. When I'm feeling like I want to finish things quicker, I tend to forego the Word document stage and simply put in the dialogue as I'm mapping a scene. That entire third Stoic flashback (the big 40 minute one) was written as I created the scene, so the Word file would be disjointed at best.

"...If players are not attached to Stoic's character, the reaction will probably be "Why should I care about this dude..."

True, I probably wouldn't have cared too much about him if the whole flashback was at the game start. I was not thinking of a flashback though but more as starting the game when Stoic was human (Zeno Slade - I think?), so we were introduced to how he became a skeleton at the very begining, he was quite a likeable character with his high ideals of how the world should be and his dislike for racism, beingism, udeadism, er different inteligent beings not getting along. Then Arc 2 would be the battle with the vampire start we now have. Now I know the whole story (up this point) then the method you used was quite good (flashbacks towards the end), like I said, just a thought, either way would be good.

No, because then half of the narrative of Arc IV will be pulled out from under it's feet. Most of the narrative there relies upon the player not knowing Stoic's past. And practically all of arc V's.

GOD VOLRATH.

I need to find time to play this game I'm always like "ok when the next arc releases I'll play them all in one shot" BUT IT NEVER HAPPENS.

beat me or something

Just wondering...is anyone making a guide for arc II right now? I just finished it and I do have some spare time till school starts.

Alright! I've actually already written the mines part. I'm missing the the exact hp for the monsters there and the miner formans though =/

@BrunoTR: "...Most of the narrative there relies upon the player not knowing Stoic's past..."
Come to think of it now, yes that is true, I was wondering most of the game about Stoics past.
I withdraw my suggestion, its perfect left as is in the order its in now, it would lose a lot of sustance if it was changed.

Back to anticipating for Arc VI then...
