I have to say this game is shaping up really nicely. SSwave done a good job with the music too. The main theme fits the game well, it kind of makes me think that theres some hope left for Joe but its going to be a struggle. The muzzle flash is also ridiculous, how did you manage to make it so... realistic? Is it a battle animation that you put over the top of the character?

@Kodakami: Yeah, me too. sswave has done an amazing job. Just wait until you here the other pieces he's made.
@razendnomar: That piece of music isn't actually meant for the intro. It's just the main theme to give you a taste of the rest of the music. Hopefully, some time soon, I'll have the first part ready, and you won't have to wait to hear and see it.
@JoneQ: lol, thanks. Just next time, remember that you should always try to right constructivly. But thanks anyway.
@saikyo765: I'm sorry about that. But sswave is working on both our projects, and I don't see why you should have a problem with that. The music for both games is completely different, so it really doesn't matter. However, you have no reason to say that I copy you. I have never copied any of your work. If you remember, when I first released LMS, your game was nothing like mine. At the time, yours was set 5 years into a zombie war, in a major city, and mine was about mutants. I had some criticism, and I decided to change to zombies, but still keeping my original ideas. It was only a few months ago when you changed your game to the first outbreak. So I never copied you. I'm sorry if you feel differently.
@LumberWarrior: Yeah. Thanks to sswave all round!
@SyphonShadow: Thanks! The muzzle flash was made for LMS by Zekallinos. Then the animation is played as a battle animation over the top of the animated sprite, so that it gives the illusion that the gun is fireing.

Ok, I've been doing a lot of work on LMS recently, but mainly on the story. The main game plot is very nearly completed. In Last Man's Stand, the player can choose to follow the storyline (resulting in the discovery of a dark secret, and a plot with loads of twists), or they can explore the city at their own will, and only follow the story when they want. Either way, hopefully, they'll be plenty to do.

Ahh.. thought as much. But one thing though, how did you solve the problem of the muzzle flash appearing in front of objects when it should be behind it? Is the shooter ABS scripted in a way that gets over that problem? I'm still really impressed with the muzzle flash. Since I saw that, I've been trying to create my own muzzle flash as good as your one. I can't help it, I'm a really competitive person by nature haha^^;
Keep it up man.

I should mention that the Story, Team, and Screenshots sections of the first post are somewhat outdated. I don't know but you probably don't want people commenting on things that are no longer accurate.

@SyphonShadow: No, no scripting. It's done through overlapping of events and animation. Thanks for the compliments!
@KRoP: The story is the latest version, but as for the screenshots and team, the reason I haven't updated them is because of something that's been happening regarding LMS...

I'm sorry again for the long gap between my posts, but finally, I have something worth updating for! After quite a long time, the LMS Official Website and Forums have been released! So come on over, and join for new screens and more! I will be updating this topic still, don't worry, but the final product will only be downloadable from the LMS website. But don't worry, because joining is free and easy. So:

A big thank you to James Rascal, the creator and designer.
Enjoy!

Hi! I have released a brand new tech demo for Last Man's Stand! It can be downloaded now from http://www.lastmansstand.com/links. To download the demo you must be a member (sorry, I'm not trying to advertise Mods), but membership is free and harmless. Not only that, the new demo has a point collecting system, meaning by the end of the demo you get a score which will then go towards a new competition where you can win RMXP style prizes.

Now that that's the main part out of the way, I'd like to say that comments about the tech demo would also be appriceinted if they were posted over here on .org. Just because there is a new website, doesn't mean I don't want to keep this topic going.

Ha, I was kidding about the "join for nothing" part. Seriously though, fox, it says you removed it, so I just thought I'd give you a heads-up on that.

Awesome Bro

Well I'm going to download the test thingy from your website, but I've been waiting for like 10 minutes for it to load from the link in your sig, lol.

The demo is really sweet. I liked how I got to play right away (I'm assuming that wasn't a mistake).

I did have a weird problem a couple of times where the guy I was playing as would have Direction Fix on for no apparent reason...and he would keep facing the direction no matter what direction I went. I'm assuming this is a bug because I can't think of why this would just happen randomly.

I also liked the general atmosphere of the place. Very well done. Did you do most of those graphics yourself?

Thanks for the comments. Playing stright away is not a bug, its because this is a tech demo, so it's straight in on the action. The thing where Joe stays facing one way is Lock on. You must have accidentally knocked Z, whihc maked Joe lock facing the way you're facing. I really need to make a way of letting people know that's happened. Just tap Z again to unlock.

I'm glad, once again, that I got the atmosphere right. Thanks for the complement. As for the graphics, all of the sprites are custom made, except the houses and a few other things like the trees, which are heavily edited off of Zanyzora's stuff.

So I finally managed to play it, and to be honest, it's pretty good, it's pretty fun shooting zombies with an AK47 !

However, there are a few minor issues; Some of the gun SE's don't sound too good, for example, if you shoot one bullet from the AK47, it makes the SE of 3 bullets, I'm not sure if this was your intention or anything, but I somehow seem to noice small things like this.

The second is that it runs at a slightly low FPS, and it was really noticable if you had all the zombies on the map following you at the same time.

The last thing, is that there are no melee animations for attacking ! You just stand there, and the zombies seem to die, hehe, however this shouldn't be too much of a problem, eh ?

However, these didn't put me off from killing the zombies for half an hour, it's looking good so far.

lol, thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I wasn't aware of the three bullet issue. That may be the sound effect, or it may be how quickly RMXP is reading you pressing the button down. Either way, I'll look into it.

I know there is sometimes lag, and it's something I'm trying to stop, but when the whole system works with events, it's quite hard. Hopefully, I'll be able to make the finished product a lot more lag free. But what were you doing with the entire maps zombie's following you anyway?! Lol.

And finally, for the melee animations, I'm one step ahead of you. I've been working on making the melee animations believable, and they just weren't ready to add in when I had the demo ready. However, this is what I'm working on:

BaseballBatAnimation.gif

It already works animated ingame now, but I haven't finished the front and back views, so it's still not done. But I'm getting there. By the way, the swipe waves in the animation are transparent, but .gif files don't support transparency, so I wasn't able to save it.

I'm glad, none the less, that you enjoyed it. Thanks.

Ah, that animation looks pretty cool, reminds me of how Frank whacks with the baseball bat on Dead Rising, heh.

Also, what do you mean what was I doing with them all following me !? It's not a zombie survival game without being cornered by zombies, and I was testing to see how long they followed you for, lol.

Overall, as said before, it's pretty good, although I imagine it being much better once finally released (Cause that means MORE zombies !)
