This is a really nice demo fox. I really like the eearie feel when playing the game, and the menu's are pretty cool. I'm actually really curious how you did that moving minimap. Really neat feature.

Xilef: Thank you also. I'm glad you like it. You also have a nice idea, but I'm afraid that a story change that much would make this a completely different game. I'm sticking with the storyline I have at the moment.
dario8676: Thanks. The atmosphere is one of the key parts of the game, so I'm glad I got it right. The minimap is edited from MrMo's ABS, so it's a script. Glad you like it.

Just a small update, but I've done some new concept art for Joe. Here it is:

I also want to say that, to add some more things to do into the game, Last Man's Stand will eventually have minigames and multiplayer games in it. I don't have enough of this ready to show, but I'll post more details as I get more of it done.

I have had some time off all the other stuff I'm doing, and I descided to work on the gun firing animations that I've been saying I'd do since the first page. At the moment, fireing your gun isn't that exiting, because, like saikyo765 said back on page two, shooting guns is much more fun in the game if you can actualy see the power of them, and see the kickback.

So, here are my first tries at animated the guns (please don't use these):

I've dled and played the demo and one question: is there only 2 external areas? I've read the entire thread and so far, I can only get into the next map on the right and even then, I have to walk into a corner at the bottom-right corner of the first map. Plus, the dog gets stuck on the second map where you start.

That's why it's a Tech Demo. That area isn't in the real game at all, it's just for testing purposes. And actually, there should only be one area. The spot in the bottom right hand corner is a bug. Hence why the dog gets stuck there. You shouldn't be able to acess it at all. But anyway, I won't change it, becaue Episiode One of LMS will be coming out shortly. That is the first part of the real game. The Intro and all.

I have said for quite a while that the intro needed redoing, and finally, I've finished it. It now has a new massive battle scene (better than the one in the screenshot on page 1) and a better reason for why Joe gets left behind. (I'm not letting any more on, cause it will spoil the game). I've also scrapped the not-very-realistic telephone conversation thats in the storyline, so I'll change that soon. So now that is done, I can get to making the real missions. There's about 5 planned for Episode One. I'll post any updates on that as I get tham done.
 
This is kind of half a bump, half an update.

I have started to make the missions for Episode 1. Because of the slight story change (you'll have to wait for Episode 1 to see what it is) I've had to change a lot of the text in the first area. The city which Last Man's Stand takes place in (it hasn't got a name, but I'm open to suggestions - only sensible ones) is split into sections: The Centre, Inner City and Outskirts. As you unlock new missions, new areas of the city will be opened to you. The Centre is the most built up, and is also the most destroyed (it's where the intro happens) and the Outskirts are the deserted run-down area. This area is what provides the more horror aspect of the game.

At the moment, I have only mapped a small portion of The Centre. Eventually, I will make a map that shows all the sections of the city, and also where Joe is.
 
Oh i see you used quite a few of my old Cell Chamber music for this, glad you credited the composers properly.  Nice one.

I don't know if its been mentioned but the lock on doesnt really seem to work properly for me unless im doing something wrong.
 
Yeah, Cell Chamber's music was great. Why did you stop making your game, again? Anyway, the lock on falt has been mentioned, and since, has been fixed. Now it simply locks you in the direction you're facing by pressing 'Z' and unlocks you by pressing 'Z' again.

By the way, are you still supporting LMS?
 
I didn't know I ever was "supporting" your game to be honest! :P  I just pop into threads now and again and help out if I feel I can do so.

Stopped making it cause I would have never ever got to the end.

Ok, I have an update. Rather than working on gameplay, over the past few days I have been working on the graphics and lighting. I've come up with what I think is a good lighting system. I just want to know what everyone else thinks. So:

Secondly, Band-Aid has drawn a new drawing fro Joe. The head of this will now be used for the new message system I am making.

The light from street lamps is normally below the lamp not on the building behind.
I like the light from the windows though.
 
Sorry for the lack of posts. I've been working hard on pretty much every part of LMS, and as a result there is now:

-A new weapon (Shotgun)
-A new mission
-A few new maps
-Some new graphics
-And an improved version of the battle system.

I have also fixed all the bugs that 006 found when he first tested the game.

The Improved Battle System
Like I said, the battle system has been vastly improved. The guns now all have new, better sound effects. The zombies AI has been improved (they can no smell you as well), and the zombies have all been given new sound effects for being hit, attacking, dieing and just randomly groaning. They now sound a lot more realistic.

@Xilef: Damn, hadn't noticed that. I'll sort it.
@noonoo1: hmm, not necessarily. The light could be reflected and shine outwards as well, but I see what you mean.
@Calibre: Really? Maybe that wasn't the best screenshot showing the lighting, but it's really only there for atmosphere.

graphics are looking pretty damn good. For some reason, that HUD doesn't seem to fit in to me. The colours look too simple or something.
I dunno.
Good stuff anyway.
 
The cinema is way too small.  Looking at it relatively its like the size of a small McDonald's or Dunkin Donuts.  Also the Marquee sign and that red and white thing that surrounds the doors stick out a lot.  I think it would help immensely to get rid of that red and white border thing and extend the bricks properly and provide for some shadowing on the bricks under the marquee so it looks like a more believable part of the building.
