Dawn of Dead never really explains why everyone becomes zombies -o-
I find that better...

Anyway sry 4 the off-topic

Avgen, what is the point of your arguing?  The guy could take any path he wants to make zombies.  He doesn't have to follow other zombie stories.  Also him saying he started this game before I Am Legend was made shows how little he knew of the movie.

To all of you posting with a half-assed mindset ("lol i am legend ripoff" or "lol the last stand ripoff"), actually READ the thread.  Do you really think 8 pages in no one said this was like I Am Legend or other zombie media?  And if you felt like posting your "opinion", what's the point if the opinions will just be repetitions of past opinions?

fox5: If this were my thread, I'd just say "[NAME OF IDIOT HERE], no." to fools posting such and such crap.

Avgen saying you should have like 90 hours of game play made me think a question for ya fox5: what's your goal almount of playtime for your game?

I think 5 hours is okay 4 a game -o-
Games with like 543 hours of gameplay = boring
=_='
A cool action game (like mgs) is about 5-6 hours witch is enough.

Oh btw mukashin why is your name not anal creampie anymore?

Thanks MukanshinBlack.
Just to clear things up:
I didn't realize I am Legend was announced back in 2006. The first I heard about it was when Missingo said about it on the first page, and one of the LMS production team ran up to me and said 'Oh god, the LMS storyline is already a movie'. Maybe more. The Last Stand (the flash game) was (I think) released a month after I started making LMS.

Right. About the length of the game. At the moment (yeah, laugh at me) I can get through everything except the begining sequence in about 25 minutes. Yeah, I know, not a lot at all. But my tester (who didn't know where any of the items you need to find, or where any of the enemies were) got through it in 1 hour 45 minutes. That is only the tutorial and the first mission. So if Part 1 of LMS has 4 - 5 missions, that would mean that Part one will be roughly 3 hours long. I was planning about 4 parts (=12 hours) but that may be too much. We'll see.

i'm just happy when someone actually completes a game.  besides, have you SEEN how many zombie movies (and rip-offs) there are?  it's zombies.  no he didn't create the idea of the zombie.  so what, could still be a good game.

1) this game is not an RPG, it's an action shooting game,
This game is technically an RPG, more literally an action RPG since you're playing the role of Joe (RPG=Role Playing Game).

Anyways good to see you're continuing this game.  Not enough 2D zombie games around.

Well, if you think about, in almost every genre of game your playing the 'role' of someone...

Anyway, as for your sniper graphics, I'd personally prefer to shoot a sniper rifle from a crouching or prone position so as to keep the scope steadier...
but whatever floats your boat man.

Hey! Sportsman270, who gave you permission to edit my sprites? You shouldn't edit other peoples stuff without asking them first. Especially stuff that I have said not to edit. Please don't do it again. The edit is very basic anyway. Thanks.

Now that's out of the way:

Lms looks great! I've been watching it for a while but it lags like heck on my computer...

Thanks. The demo used an outdated version of the Antilag system. I now have the new antilag system in place, as well as an event antilag system.

I was looking at the graphics you had and thought of something... Joe only comes with a pistol, a knife, and a machine gun... I thought about all of my favorite guns and one came to mind :The Sniper Rifle...

No he doesn't. They are only the weapons I have made so far. If you'd have looked back a few pages, you would have seen this list:

Baseball bat
Plank of Wood
Pistol
Machine Gun
Sniper Rifle < There. He will have a sniper rifle
Rifle

That is the planned list of all the weapons that you will be able to unlock as you play through the game.

The sniper rifle will hopefully work like so:
You first have to find high ground (get on the top of a building), then equip the sniper rifle. Once equiped, most of the screen will black out and a target will appear. Using the arrow keys, you move the target over to the enemy you want, and then press fire. The rest works just like all the rest of the weapons. The only hitch is that you can only ever hold 5 bullets at once, so once you've fired them you have to climb back down again and find some more bullets.

First, you've got a point. But I think what MukanshinBlack ment is that you follow what the player does as well. I don't know.

Second. Yeah, I'm not useing those graphics. I have made my own sniper rifle graphics, and they will be the ones being used, not Sportsman270's.

Wow, this is one big post.

---UPDATE---

006 has done yet another thing to help out with LMS. He has forfiled my request for vehicals, so now the streets and roads of LMS will be a lot more fun to explore, dodging in and out of them, as well as the other carnage on the tarmac.
Here's just one quick example:

Oh, damn, just relised that my scripted fog goes under the lorry, thats why it sort of clashes. I better sort out the prioritys.
But thanks to 006.

Regardless that he was editing your sprites without permission, he was trying to help, at least give him that much.
Anyway, a big huzzah for 006!

Yeah...  RPGs are essentially games where you play the role of a character directly.  I explained that badly, but for example if there was a game about Terminator, the first movie, where you were Arnold and had to go after Sarah Conner to kill her, and it was like you were "acting" as if you were the Terminator, it could be called an RPG.  I think also what games are called RPGs is opinionated and majorly biased.  So it's an inconclusive argument, one that I shouldn't have started in the first place.

fox5:  That truck... There is something terribly wrong with it that I can't put my finger on. (Discounting the fact that it looks like its taken from KN_E.)  Too many wheels, very small engine...  A lot of things wrong with it.

oh crack, wasn't paying attention. (thought you posted those graphics.)
nevermind, continue the good work.

This looks like an amazing game with a lot of work put into it.
I just find one big problem. You can ignore this if you want, but the maps seem too big.
The player should feel like he has no chance of survival. The huge outdoors maps give him too much hope.
Have you ever played the Half Life series? You should get a few ideas from those to see what I mean.

Wow, lots of replys. Here we go:

Yeah, I know, I was in a mood with something else at the time, so I was wrong to take it all out on Sportsman270. Sorry, man.

Yeah, it's based on the one from KN_E, but 006 edited it. There are a few too many wheels, but that's easy to fix. But it looks better with the atmospheric fog on it. That makes it match the other stuff around it.

Thanks, I have put loads of effort in it.
No I won't ignore a good point. The maps in the screenshots are too open. But I have gone back into the older maps and added the new trucks, piles of rubbish, broken down stuff, so in the end it's actually quite hard to navigate a zombie free path through all the chaos. I've aslo added new tileset pieces, like dead and burnt grass, and certain areas have blood splattered on the roads/buildings. It's a lot more atmospheric.

nice character, and battle system XP, atlease yours 99X better then people who go by normal default battle system

Well, er, thanks. I think i know what you're saying. Could you really make a shooting action game with the DBS?

Thanks.

It's been a long time.
Because of school work and a hole bunch of other things, I haven't had the time to do anything on the game. However, I do have a small update:

---UPDATE---

Please welcome 006 and Zombie Survival to the team as Testers. They will be testing LMS for bugs and glitches. They are testing a very rough version soon, so stay tuned.

Would you be adding a Sandbox-Style system?
(You can ancomplish your missions/quests/tasks the way you want to and dont have to follow an exact instruction).

? It would be adding alot of hours gameplay with that system. (It would make the gameplay hours double / triple longer).

Ok, I think I better explain what's been going on. A few days ago, I lost the internet, and obviously haven't been able to update anything. But finally, I have a load of stuff to update.

Avgen: Hmm, not a bad idea. At the moment, you don't have to do any of the missions in any order, and you can completely egnore them and do your own thing too. But in order to progress, you must do all the missions. Also, there are already lots of other stuff you can do as well as the storyline missions, like replaying missions, exploring, just shooting the hell out of some zombies, and more important than all that, unlocking new abilities, weapons and secret missions. Let me explain in more detail:

At a certain point in the game, Joe will come across the Army Base, a building on the outskirts of the city that is defended against zombies. In there, there are quite a few rooms that all do different things when you enter them:

The Weapons Room:
In the weapons room, there are a number of containers all around the walls. In each of the containers is a different weapon, going up in power around the room. If you go up to each box, it will tell you what the weapon is, and what you must do to unlock it. This can either be killing a certain number of zombies, completeing a certain mission or missions or finding a certain item. Once you have unlocked the weapon, you can pick it up and equip it.

The Training Arena
So far, Joe does not have any skills or abilities other than shooting his gun and interacting with the environment(i.e. climbing, pushing, pulling, picking up etc), but eventually, you will be able to go into the training arena and learn new skills. You can learn new skills by the same way as weapons, only when you have unlocked the skill, you have to practice it.

Thats it. Going back to what you said, Avgen, I'll have a go with your idea. Thanks.

---UPDATE---

OK, on with the update. 006 and Zombie Survival have been testing LMS. So far, 006 has come back with an error and improvement report, so I will be working to fix the glitches he spotted. I am also working on redoing the zombie/army battle at the begining of the intro, to make it longer, better, and more fun to watch.

Also, I have taken the time I have been away from the internet to make the HUD and titlescreen a bit more pleasing on the eyes. I have also redone the animation on the titlescreen. Here's a preview:

http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/5087 ... onewz3.png[/img]

That's all. I will hopefully have a bit more time to work on Last Man's Stand now. Please leave your comments.
Enjoy.

This game looks good. Finally a zombie RPGXP game that is simple enough to be completed.
Zombies caused by biochemical stuff is used too much, have it be some guy who tried to use voodoo to resurect his wife but it all went horribly wrong and the dead started walking (Zombies came from voodoo in the first place so you could be nice and tribute that). In Night of the Living Dead the zombies came about when someone just died rather than after they were bitten, so that would be a nice bring-back to a zombie game.
But I'm not the writer, you are

(btw, "I am Legend" film is nothing like the book, it is based on the omega man and the last man on earth, which were slightly based on the "I am legend" novel, except in the novel it isn't zombies, it's vampires that swarm the earth. Dawn of the Dead is a sequel to Night of the Living Dead where the zombies are explained and this game is nothing like both of those, stop saying it is because it 'aint...It's more like "The last man" and "The last stand" games =p [Although "The Last man" was made after this])
