I'm actually gonna have to agree with Senx on this one.  I've played much worse action games on RPG maker, but the game mechanics are still far from what I'd consider fun.  However, I'm assuming that the demo that was put it was just an early release and that things are still being worked on.  I hope to see some of the wrinkles ironed out in a future release.
 
Wow, there's a lot of criticism there. Not that that's bad. I like criticism.

I'm glad you like the graphics. It seems that my almost 2 months of graphic revamping payed off.
Yeah, you're probably right about the 'hit' effect. It's a bit too OTT.
Movement/combat engine: Ah, right:
1. What do you mean simple engine?! Loads of people have already played it and told me that the system is really good fun. I must point out (for the billionth time) that the battle system is completely evented, and therefore it takes a lot of time and effort to get it to just the stage it's at now. And anyway, what else do you want it to do? It has shooting, locking on, attacking, swaping weapons. There is more there than most scripted ABS's.
2. Right, next. "The way you move like on a chess board". What? That's RMXP for you. RMXP uses squares as its base, (as I'm sure you know) so that means almost every single game out there made with RMXP uses "chess board" movement. Even ones with ABS's. And I know that there are Pixel movement scripts out there, but I think Pixel movement ruins RMXP games.
3. I have already said that the animations are placeholders until I can get some good ones:

4. Ok, now you do have a point. When I started this game (about 7 months ago now) I made the actual shooting part of the system quite quickly and it's a bit tacky, I admit.

Hang on, you're speaking there as if what you've just said has completely destroyed this game and that your opinune is the whole world's. Just because you haven't enjoyed it, doesn't mean that I'm about to break down and abandon this game!

Ok, could you tell me what you didn't like? Or is it the same stuff Senx said?
And yes, you are right about it being an early release. Everything is still in progress. Please download the edited demo above and see if it is an improvement (although that isn't the finished product.) I'd like to see if I'm back on the right track.
 
I'm sorry for the double post, but I have a big update, and I want to thank Samot for his work here:  :smile:

If you have checked the main post, then you would have seen the awsome new logo and banners, that Samot has made for the game! If not, here it is:

It is now added into the game, and it's looking very cool. So a very big thanks to Samot for making it.

Also, I have now completed the tutorial for the game as well (which is also the first mission) and all together, LMS has 14 minutes of gameplay. Yeah, I know that's a midgety amount, but at least there actually is some gameplay. Once I complete missions 1-4, I will be able to release Last Man's Stand Part 1.

And I'm still looking for some comments on the improved BS in the Tech Demo.

I just tried out your new demo.
Only thing I gotta say, is that the title screen doesn't loop perfectly, and the game's having some lag..
Other than that, it's good.
Graphics are good, systems are good.

Oh, the AI of the enemies has severely increased since this update..

For the lag part:
You might want to consider having less events that have condition branches at once..
Those slow down.

Now hurry up and get some gameplay for us.

Lol. Thanks for playing. I know about the title screen error. Origianly, it was big green monsters, 5 squares up, that walked in the title screen, so I've got to re-event that now to fit with the zombies.
Yes, I've been working hard to improve the AI, so that enemies don't just randomly walk towards you, even if you are out of their sight range, and stuff like that.
Hmm, that's quite a few people who have said about lag now, but it works very smootly on my computer. Anyway, I can't have any less Conditional Branches than I have at the moment, because they power the Zombies. However, what I have done is added an Event Anti-Lag script, so hopefully that should sort it.
And I'm working my hardest to get Part 1 complete, but still have another 6 missions to complete before I can release it. And there's the fact that I'm re-doing quite a bit of stuff too(see below).

-----UPDATE-----

On to the update. Firstly, If you check the main post, you'll see that one of the concepts has had to be removed, because of lagging problems. But a new concept is up! It will only feature in a small way in part 1, but check it out. (It's the 'Unlocking' one.)

Secondly, as I said above, I am re-doing a lot of the intro text and maps. The great new logo, and support I've been getting has motivated me into making Part 1 as good as it can be. That means the text is now more in depth, and maps have more detail, and look a lot better. Here's an example of one map that I have re-vamped:

As you can see, the new one has a lot more detail in it than the old one, and also has some new graphics that I have been editing.

I am also editing the exterior maps, because at the moment, they look to clean and tidy for a city that has been at war, and then abandoned. I am adding piles of rubbish and junk beside the roads, and parts of destroyed houses and such. They are looking a lot better, and they are more fun to explore.

Lastly, I am looking for a spriter to help me out. I need cars and other vehicles. If you can help, look here:

just one thing youd have to get a something to host the website, i just use http://www.freewebs.com, its free and you can make your URL lastmansstand.webs.com or something.

also i dont use the freeweb website maker, i use flash and can make some cool websites

Thanks a lot. By openworlded, do you mean that you can walk about where you want whenever you want? Becasue if you do, that is already in place, you don't have to follow what missions say, you can just do some exploring or just wander around shooting.

Hello all. I haven't been around for a bit, but I'm back now. Due to a quite major battle system error (which meant I have to redo all of the enemies and weapons) I sort of gave up on Last Man's Stand. I haven't worked on this for about three weeks.

HOWEVER.

After my -ahem- break from LMS, I have decided that I have done too much on this game to just chuck it away (I have never worked on a game for more than three weeks before). So I went back into Last Man's Stand, and spent the last week or so redoing the battle system. It now works again! Whoo!

So I am now back on schedule. The Intro and first mission are not yet ready for release, though. I am still redoing a lot of the text and cutscenes so they are less childish. When I originally wrote the speech, I was rushing to get the intro finished, but now I'm going back through it so that it makes more sense. I'm sorry that I did not meet the release date I set. Please watch this space for more info.

Oh, yeah. Sorry COLEGE, but I'm sticking with the tilesets I have at the moment. I spent a lot of time working, editing and adding to them, and I think they match the feel of the game. Sorry, but that is my personal opinion.
 
Just have to say lol when he posted i am legend i was like thats a movie based slighty off a movie that slightly based off another movie based of a book sadly ive seen them all and only i am legend is good real good movie

now so this isnt spam lol

nice game i love the vibe and looks nice but you know theirs a flash game called last mans stand or whatever and it look exactly like this? hope you know sorry if i missed like this is a rpg version of it :P like the dog in it its like doggy from i am legend :D
 
Hi. Last Man's Stand Part 1 is drawing nearer. Not to near, but nearer than it was the last time I posted. I still think that my Intro is too rough to release at the time being, but I'm still editing. Part 1 of LMS will include the intro and missions 1 - 4. It should also have the final completely working system of the ABS.

Right first, thanks. Second, I wish you had read some more of the topic, because I have posted over and over again that I don't want to know about games that are 'similar'. No this is not an RPG version of that, which is called 'The Last Stand', by the way, because
1) this game is not an RPG, it's an action shooting game, and
2) if you check the release date of 'The Last Stand' to this, you will see that The Last Stand was release a month and about 10 days after I started work on Last Man' Stand. So how was I supposed to copy it?

Now that that's out of the way, I'm still looking for a really really really good spriter to help with my LMS Vehicle request in the Resource Request topic.

This game is technically an RPG, more literally an action RPG since you're playing the role of Joe (RPG=Role Playing Game).

Anyways good to see you're continuing this game.  Not enough 2D zombie games around.

A guy, a dog, survivors, zombies, being alone, A city and science. Dude... wtf? ^^

While Will Smith hides from the zombies at night Joe wanders around and kills them xD

Fox, do you mean that you have been working on this game like 1-2 years? Or more?
I Am Legend was first announced during 06's and the world premier was somewhere at 07's. Its the mid 08's now.

Two Comments:
Either you have wasted your time.
OR
The game most be more than 20hours long by now if you go the same scheme as Crysis. But RMXP is a very easy program to use. In that case you must have be at 90hours gameplay.

Or you have been only working 1hour each day equals 10min gameplay or less.

EDIT: Oh, I am Legend is a novel from the 50's. The 07 Movie has its influence from that novel. As well as The Last Man on Earth (64's) and The Omega Man (71's).

Dont take anything offence but... Anywayz, If you want a classic zombie story of how the zombies became "zombies". Take use of the Biological / Chemical dicease/antidote or nuclear related topics.
Many of the most famous movies uses this idea of biological and chemical causes.
Such as:
all the Resident Movies (1, Apocalypse and Extinction).
Rising of the Living Dead
I am Legend
And there is two versions of a sort movie. Cant think of the number though
X = Number
X Days and X Weeks or something like that.
Can anyone tell me what number it should be xD for these who have seen it?
Im sorta braindead atm and i cant think of them all. But
