GTBS v1.5.1.4 - A FFT Styled Battle System (5/19/2010)

giam, even though you have no intention of using iso, I would leave the script there as gtbs relies on it to a small degree, mostly for checking what method to use.  However you are free to remove the tileset and use the default.  It was just given as an example of iso based maps.

fustel, I will need a demo to figure what the problem is.

coprolalia, the line skills part is already complete.  The help file may not be up to date though. Look in the demo for the dash skill and its setup to use line skills.

gimnis, you error is because you didnt copy all of the scripts OR you didnt place them in order.  I would recopy the scripts to make sure that you have them in the correct order as in the demo.

Is it possible to summon more than one summon with the same skill? I cant seem to figure this out by looking at the code... and maybe by using a cross patter range (i.e. range = [3,1, false, true ] )

No, you must have a different skill for each one, because the actor when summoned can only be in 1 location.  I suppose I could create copies of the object when summoned but because of other request I have never considered it.

I am trying to put it within another scripts in my project but I am getting some errors here, look:
In Game_Battler, line 403 (@current_action.clear(true)), I'm getting wrong number of arguments, 1 for 0, just after the battle to begin. Although it is needed to be there, otherwise the characters will just be walking in the same place. What can I do?

This is YOUR demo I used. I just changed the name of the 3 Event below the 'neutral1' one, from 'place' to 'actor1', 'actor2', and 'actor3'. The ones I deleted are the 4 to the left. I touched nothing else..

Tery Buster, This would mean to me that you didnt copy all of the scripts or that you missed 'Battle Action'  I would reconfirm that you have all the scripts copied, then make sure that GTBS is under your other scripts and see if that resolves it.

Fustel,  When i did this, it seems to work fine.  Can you provide me the modified demo so i can retest it, or give me explicit steps to exactly what you changed from the original demo to produce the problem.  Also what exact version of the demo you are using?

How do I get rid of the Down positions? I don't need a down position, I just want the dead to dissappear. Even with REMOVE DEAD = true it will still require a down position for some reason.

Its because of a small bug, I will correct it with 1.5.  And just for my clarification, are you using vx or xp?

fustel, no that doesnt matter.  vx 1.0 is xp 1.4 + some stuff.

I'm trying this script out and I have a problem. I have a battle in the middle of the event, then after the battle I have it set so there is a message and the screen fades to black. The problem is this part happens DURING the battle as soon as it starts instead of after the battle like it's supposed to.

First thing is WOW what a script, beats anything I have ever seen by leaps and bounds.
Second thing is that I seem to be haveing trouble with the players pictures at the top right corner, could you please (since I have NO scripting know-how at all) explain how i would make the status screen a little wider and put the picture in the window?Third thing is I have the same problem as the post above me, might want to fix that XD

Ok i fixed it, sorry didn't see that I had to have a folder XD

Alex: Try placeing a switch ( turn it on ) in the common event that the battle tiggers when the battle is over. Have a diffrent event turn on when that switch is turned on, and then the message and what-not...

Gubid, is the 1.5 near? I am considering starting my project right now, but If you say that the next version is less than a month ahead I think I'll wait for it to start deploying the battles...

I am using the VX version, and I'm wondering if it's simple to create weapon and magic triads? These are like in Fire Emblem - Weapon A => Weapon B => Weapon C => Weapon A, and the same for magic attacks.

However you state that there is a bug:
Element Set Error when attacking

Does this mean any attacks with an element will crash the game? Or is the only for skills? I don't quite understand what the bug is.

Thanks for any help. |B

EDIT: Also is it possible to keep iso maps as one map, not have a separate map? I don't intend to have very complex maps with heights or things like that and it would make mapping events out easier. (And I may use panoramas instead of tiles, and having two different maps confuses things.)
... not sure whether maybe this belongs in the Isometric topic because this demo seems to use an older version.
EDIT2: Sometimes the game freezes because the battle cursor hits the edge of the ISO map but not the "real" map. Yeeep... I'd definatley prefer normal map formats (but with iso layout and movement because there's much less spriting :V).
