Ghost Shards: The Stonesinger

Tough choice for me Strawberry, I like being able to see the eyes in the big head version but the small head version also looks more nicely proportioned.

I'll see what others think too lol

STORY
The world of Valena, ruled by nine sleeping Divinities, is in need of their awakening with the songs of the Stonesingers. Without the presence of the Divine, weather will cease to flow, the world will slowly degrade into a stagnant land.

However, all Stonesingers who recently ventured into the shrines of Divinities have yet to return. They were sent there only to be never seen again, not a slightest sound was heard by anyone. The only thing left from their disappearance are their ghost shards - a materialized piece of their soul.

A humble tavern bard and entertainer, Aelina Rowan, was arrested for crimes she felt innocent for. She was offered an alternative to redeem herself by fulfilling the role of a Stonesinger, oblivious about the mysterious disappearance of those who tried before her. Her journey would be accompanied by Narie Tearwyn, the twin sister of another Stonesinger, who perished in the very same quest Aelina is about to undertake.

The Divinities continue to slumber. Time continues to race with the fate of mortals. Why can’t they be awakened? How much longer can the world of Valena wait?

The symbol of joy, the herald of happiness, the heart of delight -- these are all what Aelina Rowan has known to be in a cold village of Evertear. Who would have thought an innocent girl like her could be involved in a lethal crime?

A sweet, soothing voice has been Aelina’s main tool of trade, ever since she left home and joined a travelling troupe to spread the sound of wonderful music. While some people found her sense of humor to be at times creepy and sarcastic, her voice and a happy-go-lucky attitude have won her support from those who seek a relaxing retreat in the taverns. Even with her innocent arrest, she has been asked to use her voice to redeem herself - by becoming the next Stonesinger.

The future is looking blurry to her, having gone from a joyful bard to a herald of the Divinities. With the burden of an entire world on her shoulder, would she succeed, and what price would she have to pay?

Race: M'vyr
Gender: Female
Weapon: Swords and Clubs

Justice. Narie lives and dies by that word. Along with her sister Sarie, they spread kindness and virtues of the world to others together. This chosen path of theirs began from the church of Silver Hill, where they could put their virtues to good use.

As Narie and Sarie approach young adult ages, they turned to the opportunity of becoming a Stonesinger. Only Sarie was chosen by the Divinities to fulfill the quest of awakening them.

A lone ghost shard was the sole thing left of Sarie afterwards.

Narie made a promise to herself. A very serious promise. Justice must be served. No excuses or delay. Something must be done now.

For her sister, her friend, and all the Stonesingers. They cannot be all gone in vain.

Aelina is an older child who has a rebelleous streak that led to her joining a rag-tag gang of street performers at the age of sixteen, leaving behind her father Midlyn and sister Reina. When she returns home at seventeen, they are no where to be found. So Aelina decides to continue living in her family's originally established home; with her concealed friend Gwyn.

Narie is a tough, but motherly crusader - who along with Demi, is sent to protect the Stonesinger Aelina. She shares a strong bond with Sarie as her identical twin sister, and can be a borderline nag.

Demi is as he would say, "half-man, half-god, ALL animal". This ladies' man holds a rank of a captain in the crusaders. His light-hearted comic relief makes him a glutton for punishment, even while he guides the party with his worldly wisdom.

I must say, I'm quite impressed by all the custom content in this project. It definitely looks like you put a lot of effort into it, and I hope development goes well! It's also great to see another XP project (it seems people have moved on to VX-Ace nowadays), especially with my love for ABSes (is that XAS I see?) I know from experience it can be hard to stay motivated (I've been on and off my own project for years now with no good progress to show), but keep it up-- it pays off in the end!

I've been trying to come up with equipment.

I sit here, and sit here and nothing comes to my head. I love databasing (I know, I'm weird), but I cannot for the life of me think of much at the moment.

I would think of cool things, like "Scarf of the Northern Winds", only to find out it would get all condensed and stuff. ;_;

I'm trying really hard not to use other games for inspiration and to be original.

*deep breath*

My Fiance:
He's been busy spriting the first boss - which you see in the first flashback scene (which sounds and looks fun). Then he'll add the monsters you fight. My reasoning for starting the game with a flashback is because there's only a short beginning scene before you get to fight! YAY! ACTION!

So he still has to finish the battle system (which is uber hard for him, because of all the custom content it has). And he might even switch from our current pixel portraits to something much more simple to make things go faster.

I honestly feel so bad for him for doing all this work. :(

Our friend:
He's been busy with coming up with monsters, bosses, and story concepts. And weapons too (if I had to do weapons as well as equipment, I'd go INSANE). Hehe.

The Writer:
She helped me do a lot things this past weekend - such as writing the To-Do list (yes we have one of those) and creating the outline for the demo. She plans to do all the dialogue for the NPCs so we can actually interact with them and stuff.

Okay, Strawberry. You can do it. ^^;
To an extent, originality is overrated (much as it pains me to admit). Yes, you don't want to be a clone of someone else's game, but don't ignore an idea that worked simply because you weren't the one who invented the wheel. It's more important to think about what it would add to your game in the end.

Also, your project looks nice and I should be jealous.
 
Hi Strawberry! Hopping in to give you a motivation boost. You might not believe it but the progress is looking awesome, considering how large the scale of this game is and you're still punching out updates. I would likely have abandoned my own project already XD
 
Oh I like that. The AA is a bit weird and the ears are really low (they are on her jaw!) but its really really cute. Seriously, good job with your project!
