Welcome to HBGames, a leading amateur game development forum and Discord server. All are welcome, and amongst our ranks you will find experts in their field from all aspects of video game design and development.
This project looked great from the very start and every new screenshot keeps looking great. I like the menu, especially being able to switch between party members with <- and ->.
I really like the way this thread is laid out. also I think the art on the world maps looks professional. lol it looks like you are one of the few main projects that i believe has REAL standerds
BOOM: What do we have here... A 3 Hour Demo Release and an all nighter + headache for me... yay! Go play and give me all the feedback you can muster! Don't worry if the size is a little big, when I tried it as a test it flew! Now wheres that aspirin box...
A demo!!! yes I can't wait to try this out I had a feeling a demo was coming, dling now and will update with any bugs and constructive critque, although I seriously doubt I will have anything to say besides great game you've worked on it to long to be stupid, right?
EDIT:The demo really did fly.
a slight bug if you leave the room with all the flame and return, the event starts over, well not the event just the "the only thing driving me back into the house was my parents" part.

The clue may have been in my sig where it said Demo coming very very soon! LOL!
The demo is not 100% bug free... I know of 2... I should state it here too... the mini-game called lights out... can only be played once, don't try to play it again because it doesn't let you but charges you to play still... It won't break the game though.
The second bug is quite hard to achieve but try not too... On the bridges in the mines, the horizontal ones, try not to press up or down and you won't have any problems. there is no need to press up or down because the bridge is horizontal, other than that... I know no more...
lol so you got my joke, but I'm a little stuck on the family room part, lol sorry but I can't seem to find the family room, damn I want to test out my handguns so bad.

As this demo is new, can we try to keep as much details in spoilers - just as a warning just in case. The location of the family room is no secret though... it's the only room on the ground floor that is accessible, in between the two staircases.
@ Lust = Hope you can see the improvements! I'm sorry if there are glitches... I did my final beta when I was already zombified! There should not be a true game ender anywhere, thats for sure... I'll fix all the little issues up soon after I get a few more reports.
After speaking with kenji for the first time, I returned to Nico's house. In the bed where Koen wakes up after jumping down a cliff, I saw both Nico and a Koen clone snoozing there.
Other than that, the demo is great so far. I'll post the details once I finished it.
Okay Crystal Gate, consider it fixed. That's the main issue I have with bugs... fixing things the player doesnt ever need to return to... Thanks for playing!
Just as a note... I recieved one report of a game ending bug... it's unlikely it would be encountered in general but I have taken it offline temporary to update the file. Version 1.1 will be up by today. If you have the file already and on't wish to wait... do not backtrack through maps in the Escape shaft. It will be fixed later today.
Well... It should have been ready just now... except for I am a total idiot and reuploaded the first version to the net again by accident and then in turn Serenade whose kindly hosting this for me downloaded it and uploaded it (Still the wrong version) to his host...
I'm really sorry but I got the right one back on rapidshare right now and its going pretty quickly... As soon as this is uploaded to rapidshare I'll post it as a temporary link until Serenade has it back on his server. His hosted version should be ready very soon after which flies in the download.
EDIT:
Malick... Only 16 people downloaded it before... there was a potential game ending bug in it that me and all my testers had missed... and that's not the standard that I'm happy with. It's fixed now.
I'm playing this and that box puzzle in the intro is really getting to me. Probably because it involves math which isn't my forte. But still, I know you won't change it now, but is something like that really a good idea considering it's an intro? They're not supposed to be painful puzzle experiences. =_=
I dunno, I'm not going to quit, but it's just a design thing to take into account, tossing this into the player's face before the fun even begins.
It's awesome isn't it... Thanks again Serenade for hosting it.
@ Skie Fortress
I completely respect your opinion on that but here is my personal stance.
Like most people, I try to make games that reflect what I like in an rpg, for me that includes tough puzzles that require a little more than pulling a single switch.
The box puzzle really isn't that tough, plenty of people get through it without mentioning it to me, I think the problem is, people look at it and over complicate it. It's not so much about math as it is about memory and logic, the math aspect is simple mental arithmetic that seems harder than it is.
However, I can fully appreciate not every one is a puzzle nut, so for those that find it too difficult I will provide both a solution and explanation via a walkthrough soon enough. There is a save point right there anyway!
My only other point is ,unlike a normal game, an rmxp takes a long time to make very little, so I wanted to get into the meat of the game as soon as possible. I don't think 20 minutes in for an rmxp game is to soon, and the satisfaction of completing that puzzle I hear feels good!
Still, thanks for playing Skie Fortress and if you want help now PM me!
@ Lust Dragon
It's a combination of level and equipment. By then it is possible to have each character fully equipped and there are stronger weapons that can either be bought... or found... :P If you are at level 6 then you should have no problems.
@ Gman
Thanks for the reminder!
Also, it would be interesting to hear how many of the Credit Collector Cards people find throughout the demo. I'm not 100% sure how many there are but I think it is around 7.
