The sprites where done by you? Dude... Where the hell did you learn to sprite THAT good. O_O

This looks like a great game. I'll download it once you add the font file people claim that you are missing.

Keep the good work up, man. This project is looking really good. Just the title logo is enough to attract me to it. Martial arts stories are always badass.

I wasn't really planning on this but the more i develop the game... the more it makes sense.
Not exactly a platformer, but side-view. Like both valkyrie profile games.
I wanted a sense of adventure and exploration that lots of great rpg's have... but that's not what this game is. And after a close friend and fellow artist and game designer said similar things as sasuke, it got me thinking.
It's a drama or martial arts story as Vent mentioned. It's about pride, beliefs, and fighting. Most of the fun of the game is the fighting and I'd like to concentrate on that.

Running a lot behind. Maps are really hard... so I have to start my research over and I am going on a tour of my town in a few days to take many a picture so I can have the exact reference materials i need.
Plus there are a bunch of holes in the story right now and it needs some fixing and that stunts a lot of the other development processes.

That's so flattering! But actually, I've gotten pretty good at scripting what I need. All the custom stuff, counter attacking, tandem attacking, etc... I coded myself. I'll let you know if I get caught up on something though.

Oh wells, maybe next demo...

Just added a screenshot of one of the first locations in the game, though I just realized I don't have a decent panarama for it--Whoops!

I also came to the conclusion to release the game in chapters/installments. I wanted to just have a big full-on release, but... I realized this way is better for development in that people can test it and get their fix (hopefully it's that good), also it allows me to focus on single chapters more, instead of worrying about the whole game.
So I guess that's why a majority of the site does this!

Woow,great game!the battle is very unique,it doesnt bore me to death.this kind of games are really quite interesting.may i know what script you used for the battle, the combo stuff?
 
I use RTAB with Animated Battlers. Additionally i use a display script I found in the demo of.... A game that escapes me at the moment (though this mostly just taught me how to do gradient bars and displaying images in battle--i've altered it a lot).
Other than that, I just use my own custom stuff that I've accomplished by hacking/tweaking RTAB.
For the combos I just created a new attribute (like SP or AGI, etc...) Then within RTAB, I have the target's 'Combo' attribute increase by 1 every time they are hit. Then I just have an little script that reads the 'Combo' attribute, then sets an image named combohitx.png where x is the value of that enemy's combo. Then combo is reset to zero when the enemy acts.
 
Very very interesting. Remind me of SNK or capcom fighting game, which is not a bad thing at all. I really like your style :) I might draw fanart characters of your game in the future, especially Lynn, since her clothes reminds me of the Bride who I love so much from Kill Bill XD

I tried the demo. Very interesting and very neat idea for battle system! Although, I have a problem with combo numbers still floating around even though the enemies are already ko'ed. Also, you might wanna include the font you use too, since I don't have them :P

Another point to consider would be information about skill. It's pretty difficult for me to remember all of those information, so it would be really helpful for user to have some info windows tell us all the information of each skill when we have to look through them in battle scene.

There are also some sprites glitch, such as the original sprite showed before the attack animation is finished, I think you might already know that but just in case you don't.

All in all it was a very interesting demo. I'm looking forward to see the finished product of this. And if you need any help, feel free to ask :)

I played the game a few times and it always crashes me out, I dont know what the problem is, Its always whilst battling :D
 
Heya, all!
I've just recently had to do an emergency move as my lease was up sooner than expected!! (my landlords were really shady) And so I've been busy for the past month.
Anyways...
The first chapter is coming along nicely, I'm shooting for the end of September or October.
Things are looking good, so stay tuned!

ps
Added info regarding 'Color Pattern' system. Not only will big numbers count in Combos, but so will the order. Unleash unique effects and increase the variety of your characters!

Updated the features section with a deeper explanation of the Pattern system.
Updated the characters section with the in-battle face pics.
Updated character systems section because everyone is being revamped a bit.
Expect a short demo video on youtube before the first chapter is released just to show off a few things. This way people wont have to download anything and I can show off some sweet combos with characters.

Added the battle sprite for Bear--Check him out!
Just working hard on the first chapter.

Redid Bear's sprites. I can't believe I released that last one... the legs and arm position were atrocious. Looks 1000% better--He's ready to rock now!
