What font are you using?...cant see text..... 005beach02 graphic missing...... transitions/slide2 missing also....
But nice character sprite n_n

38mb in audio files??!!!!
and only 3 songs??!!!
 
I can't get the font to work. ; ; Zomg, Kicks, fix it 'cause I want to play zeh game. xD

And, yea, I have all above problems as well. ^

Edit: I messed around a lil' with the Database, and I must say that your animations and sprites are fantastic. It's too bad that the script is just messing everything completely up, and it looks like the game is straight from lag-hell.
 
LOL! Sorry homies! I'll have to wait 'til a few days and I'll fix everything up. Please list any problems you have however.
So far...
1-Improper battle.
2-Huge file size (promise not to laugh, I accidentally left songs in WAV format)
3-Lag problems (i don't have any so... i'm not sure what to do here)
4-Battleback and transition (i'm pretty surprised these weren't imported. thanks for the catch)
So to recap...
1-Don't laugh at me, and
2-the much smaller fix'll be out tomorrow or the next day.

No no. There's no lag. It just looks that way, because whenever a character attacks, you usually see the character moving back while still having a battle-animation, which results in seeing 2 copies of the same character. Sometimes the character just disappears during an attack too.

Right right, I hear ya on that one. That's an issue i've been wrestling with since day 1. I'm a bit closer, but DVV, myself, and some others have been working more on that and I believe we're getting close to an easier solution than GIANT battler sheets.
 
Uh, I'm having problems with downloading it, it always freezes at 1 or 2% :/
The game looks great and I really want to try it.
Your spriting skills are amazing!
 
Unless Kick has put up a new demo it the one the rest of us downlaoded doen't work... read a few posts above on this page to see! If he has put up a new demo that I don't know about then my bad.
 
Well the demo works for me :P
I just copied some other stuff and replaced their names with the ones who were missing. Although, there are quite many errors in the battle.

Can't wait for this game to be ready, I just know it's gonna be kick-ass.

Kicks: can you please post the name of the font you're using, I don't apparently have it so I can't see any text.
 
the font name is
BankGothic Md BT (if it ever happens in another demo, just search within the code for "font.name" "$fontface" or "Font.default name"... or just "font" and wade through all the results)
I know I say this a lot, but stuff keeps coming up... but for total seriousness... there'll be a new demo out in a few days.

Yah I found the font and replaced it but ran into several missing graphics and got tired of hunting them down. I'll wait for your next demo with baited breath, it's looking sharp :)
 
Hey hey! A new demo is up and ready to rock!
The battle may be a bit too hard and I meant to put in several battles of varying difficulty, but you can just go into the database and decrease the number of hunters.
Further, there are lots of problems with Tea's Dust skill. If he uses an XS skill on a Dusted enemy, his CT resets instead of being at 100%. You may have difficulty using a Boost during an attack if the enemy is Dusted. Further, the Boosts dont seem to work with stationary skills (like Sandstorm). I'm working on that now. Also, when a skill deals more than one hit, and the necessary hit for Time Scratch is exceeded, Time Scratch will be skipped--also working on that.
Please list all the good, bad, and cool things you discover. I am especially interested in this because the battle system keep surprising me. Just today I pulled off something crazy and wasn't sure how I did it.

Slightly better demo up with all the graphics (lol i swear i playtested that last one) and a few battles. Not sure if they're all winable, but I'm pretty sure they are.

Bugs noted:
Still with the missing font. I did some digging, BankGothic is a copyrighted font so technically you can't distribute it and we can't get it for free :/ I would suggest using a more standard font.
After combat the bullet icons stayed on the screen.
After combat the combo icons stayed on the screen as well.
Shane's swagger kick pops up a couple error messages, but doesn't halt gameplay. The first shows a number, the second says true.

Gameplay notes:
I would suggest highlighting the character or his frame when he's active, the little bar being full isn't terribly obvious.
Your low HP yellow color is really hard to read against the background.
I'm not sure if HP were resetting on death or what but my HP kept refilling?
With the above in mind, I didn't have any problems with difficulty.

Opinions:
The animations, battlers, and title screen are awesome! The music is snazzy, not to my taste but good quality. I'm definitely digging the battle system, but I sincerely hope you plan on introducing it slowly and carefully. It was a lot to just jump into : ) I'm going to keep messing with it, when I get back online in a couple weeks I will try to post more thoughts.

I agree totally with the yellow hp and active character thingy, just haven't thought about it too much, but I will now.
Still working on image disposal.
Thanks a bunch for the heads up on the font... I'll have to find something else I suppose.
It's unfortunate you didn't wait a bit, a few days ago I put a nicer demo up with no bugs (the one you listed was just a debug thingy--i was printing out the enemy target and the enemy CT to make sure that move was working as Shane's Swagger Trick forces the enemy to attack him).

Coming Up Next...
A tutorial-perhaps in battle, or perhaps just images. But it will take you step by step with an overview of the topics in the current demo when you talk to Pine. As well as certain ways you can play the characters.
Gonna work on some real Charasets (the current ones are place holders).
Will try my hand at a Tileset so I can get an actual location going.
Polish up all the basic animation frames for the current 3 characters as well as introduce Lynn the Bounty Hunter.

The Graphics and things are amazing. Thre are a few flaws with disappearing frames and such, But I love it. I can't wait to see it finished.
 
Hey all! Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been getting lots done, but I got burnt out and overstressed myself working on this stuff so I had to take a break. Now I'm back and ready to get lots more done! Updated the first post with lots of new information for nearly every subject! Please read it, as it actually delves into what this game is about instead of being a squishy, flakey, lame, overgeneralized summary.
Getting chara graphics done as well as starting some actual maps and some battle backgrounds--one takes place on a wonderful ocean highway! Where will this game take us? Please stay tuned and find out!

Im downloading your game as I speak, from the screen shots i can see it looks like you got something good here :)

Its nice to know some people do take time to get a game right.
