This game really looks nice ^_^

I just played the demo and after winning the battle I got an error when I tried to open the menu:

The battle system really seems nice though it's hard to say with everything being available immediately. I suggest a gradual introduction to the various aspects of the battle system in the game.

I look forward to more updates :D

P.S. unless you still are looking for a coder (which you don't seem to need) I suggest you update the first topic accordingly.

Yeah, sorry about the error and such. I'm gonna try to have a demo by the 1st of February. Though it may be a little late depending on what days I get off. I've chosen the 1st because I keep bugging my best friend to see his writing and he said he'll have a draft of his current project by the 1st. It's sort of a pact.

Thanks for the input Zeriab and sorry for the crappy build... Cool Sig and Ava BTW, I met the Oddworld creator when I went to a workshop earlier this month--he's really smart. Great Games!

Well... I just woke up and am gonna try and work on my game all day. Hopefully I won't take too many Guilty Gear breaks. lol
 
This game looks great! The sprites are nothing short of incredible and the battle system sounds very in depth. I have to admit, the demo was very confusing, but I was impressed by the scripting and variety of moves. I'm looking forward to your next demo with a tutorial! Keep up the good work  :thumb:
 
Old thread is old.
I remember reading this a year ago when I first joined, and I went:
"This has such potential, I can't wait to play it!"
The same sentiment is still being expressed, just to let you know.
 
Hey, homies!
Just finished up a long day working on this beast. The next three days will be the same as long as I can keep up this steam!
Redid all of Lynn's old sprites and made two new animations for her as well! Awesome! Just a few more and her character will be essentially complete.
Depending on how I feel, I'll do the same for Tea, Pine and Shane... or I'll concentrate on getting that demo out. This means either this Sunday or next Sunday for the demo. The backup will be updated every few nights, so you can check out the current build, design docs, and resources!

Things are going very well. Lots better than they were a few weeks ago thats for sure.

This might as well as be one of the best RPG maker projects of all RPG makerdom.
 
I just love your sprites! Can't wait to get home and try out the new demo, I remember this from way back and am glad to see you're still working on it.

And yes, Pine looks hot with that shirt.  :blush:
 
I'm glad we agree that Pine is sexy.

Obviously I won't have the demo by Sunday... 'cause it's Monday!! Don't fret, progress is faster than ever. I got two animations done for Tea today and it was a work day! (regular pay the bills job that is). I also updated the first post with all sorts of new info under the Game System heading. I have tons more to update there but it's getting late, so I'll do it tomorrow. Right now you can learn about Battle Basics with new and refined elements. I also revamped the Clutch skill system which you can also read all about.
Tomorrow expect a rundown of how nearly every player will play in and out of battle as well as a start of an overview on what the Craft System will be like.
I'm very confident I'll have something fun for you guys to play with next Sunday. I've taken extra time off with a bunch of PTO I've accrued at work to work extra hard this week. Though I must admit, if you don't know, PTO stands for Paid Time Off, so It's not like I'm doing anything THAT crazy--LOL. I just love working on this and playing it. I just hope I can deliver something we can all enjoy! ^_^

ACK! I can't ever keep a deadline. I worked hard all weekend, but it's still not at a stage in which I can deliver... or am happy with.

So... Give me about another week or two! Probably Sunday or Monday.

I had to totally revamp the command system. The one button per every skill was cool to me at first, but just became cumbersome in the end. I have a new system...
Skill Sled!!!
This way you equip skills as per usual, but during battle...
LEFT and RIGHT directional inputs move the target cursor, while UP and DOWN move the skill sled.

Here we can see Pine busting out his new weapon, the SMG, which hits multiple times and deals ballistic damage. Further we see the new Skill Sled Window (with the boost hideously covering some skills--still moving things around--I just wanted something to show). The Skill poking out to the left is the selected skill. Simply press X to execute the skill. This will also allow the player to have more flexibility with skills during certain Auto-Attack techniques as you will be able to move the Target Cursor as well as the Skill Sled at all times. Boosting is also much easier because there are so many more free buttons so each character can have his or her own button without them overlapping command skills.

I know I seem irresponsible/like a liar for how often this happens, but due to personal circumstances,tackling other gaming projects, and my sister's birthday, release date for the DEMO is indefinite, but in the near future.

Don't worry about it. You shouldn't bother with release dates anyway I think. They're evil. Just take your time and get something good done without the pressure of a release. We're not commercial developers slaving under the eyes of companies after all.

Anyways, this game looks pretty awesome, if I remember correctly, you remodeled the party status display as well. I really look forward to seeing an actual demo. It's one of the few projects I actually look forward to.

Good luck on this, and again, take your time. No one's holding a gun to your head, hoho~

BUT WOW! This looks just amazing. You pay so much attention to your style and art, it's just beautiful. How do you find the time?!
 
I find the time because its my passion. I LOVE IT!! I only work part time and live in a little studio with very little rent and free utilities. I work just so I can come home and work on this.

Anywho... Down to business!
One of my biggest setbacks has been organization. For like FOREVER I've been telling myself to get more organized and make a checklist. So I finally broke down and did it. I've taken it upon myself to set benchmarks as well. So many times I've been to tired or burnt out to work on sprites or coding (I need a rested mind for that kind of work), so I play guilty gear or something. Then when I'm lying in bed that night I'm like, "MAN! I could have worked on this or this little thing." With this new checklist I hope to alleviate that and maximize my time during work days by completing small tasks and make my days off more efficient by having big goals that need to be completed rather than floating around doing what I feel like.
This checklist will also help me to prioritize certain things so that the benchmark can at least be met if not every goal within it can.
Further it will allow you guys to see the progress change day by day. I actually update the first post about every day, but this checklist will probably be more exciting to look at.

Getting all organized eh, that's what I need to do man.  I just spent the last week playing through FF6 and FF7 again, coulda spent all that working on my own stuff.  Oh well.  We'll see how it works for you eh. : )

Tea's CT Ring is almost full again because he used his Overdrive, "RTSD!" which makes all his moves deal CT damage and Restore CT to himself based on Black and Variety in his PPA. (how confusing is THAT?!)

Things are looking better and better,
