So the original game had a 30 hour storyline which was super extensive but super cliche'd.

I'm gonna turn this into a shorter and better storyline, keeping the title, that being the Inquisition Campaign.

So I need to make a menu system that will include quests and storyline-quests, and also some form of world map system that will allow moving inbetween normal mode and quest mode so you can visit exotic places while still being able to go back to your friends.

I've shorterned and changed the Inquisition plot with some hilariously witty (i.e. mundane and droll) puns; and am gonna work on getting it all into the game and finished before it's release. This sounds like a lot of work but I need to do it to get important systems out of the way:

- Quests
- Storyline Quests
- World Map
- Er numerous other things

It will also let me expand the world and shit.

Anyway, first step is a custom menu system - I'll keep you posted.

Still looking awesome. I've got to ask though, as the chat window is now built into the battle system (which I think's a really neat feature) is it set that it will be that length? Because you mentioned earlier that you might be making a HUD that will go next to the chat window, and I think that might complicate things for the battle screen now. I dunno. I'm still not sure about having the chat window the full length of the screen though. But yeah, still looking great.

I have decided against an on-screen hud, as I don't see any point in showing player stats on the map screen.

I personally prefer a full width chat screen. I see chat as being a big feature of this game, after the beta in 2008 - a large majority of the chat messages actually spanned the whole screen during the beta! I don't want to limit people to short messages just to make the window smaller. That's why the player is now permanently in the centre of the screen, so that they never have to go behind the chat window.

If worst comes to worst I will expand the game screen by 100px vertically using a resolution script to keep the 640x480 space while still having a full length chat window.

Mouse

Have completely removed the mouse from the game. It is pointless, glitchy, and resource intensive.

Keys

Have got rid of redundant keys (C, Space, Enter == just Enter; Esc, 0, B == just Esc). That way chat does not interfere with battles/menus/other scenes.

Chat

Chat is now featured in all scenes. As I said I see chat being the main feature of this game.

Menu System

Current work on the menu, need input:

-- Related note, I am gonna work on a neat feature that will turn chat input window text RED if it is too big for the screen.

Edit:

If chat text is too long it turns red and won't let you type any more:

Map edge blur

This was what I finally decided upon by the way:

Quests

There will be storyline quests and secondary quests.

I'm just naming storyline quests Story to get rid of any ambiguity there.

Story quests have to be completed in some kind of order (allowing for branches and loops, of course).

Normal quests can be completed at any time in any way (but may comprise of arcs of a couple or more quests). An "epic quest" is one that is not long enough to be a storyline campaign but is longer than your average couple of quests.

Campaigns

Ok, not sure about my wording, but I've always used Campaign so.

A campaign will be a series of quests released in one big update. Consider it a game within a game, with a fully fleshed out storyline. The first will be Inquisition.

They will add new areas, new characters, and new things to do.

Sometimes during a campaign you will come across a Battle.

Battles

You can enter battles at any time! But they actually fit into campaigns as quests. You must complete the battle to complete the campaign, but anyone at any time can enter the battle, if that makes sense.

Battles involve several people, think of it like a raid or whatever. I'm not sure what the mechanics will be but basically several people will strive towards a goal at the end. It will be able to be solo'd but the emphasis will be on completing it as a team.

That's taking into account the character limit for names :)

(At the moment it is Netplay's default of 8, but I will change that because 8 is way too low).

But yes, it does mean people with longer names can type less :( as names are counted towards the width.

So about the chat, you can chat in game then you doing another things?

Cant wait for the alpha testing lol.

Edit:
Did you lost your resources of older version vengeance?
If you want I got your all scripts, graphics and another stuff lol ;DD

Yeah you can chat while doing anything.

I already got my old graphics and scripts off someone else who cracked it...

One more for the list.

This is why we can't have nice things
