I bought Darksiders not because people compared it to Zelda, and not because they said "it's about 60:40 as far as combat/exploration-to-puzzles goes." I bought it because it had a shiny cover.
It's entertaining and the lore is amusing because when we'd have mandatory Sunday chapel in boarding school, right up until I realized I could bring a pen and entertain myself by drawing in the programs, I'd read the... ahem, hell out of Revelations, so I'm pretty familiarized with the source material. The world doesn't seem nearly expansive enough for people to compare it to Zelda, though, but maybe I'm just not far enough yet.
The most fun I've had with Darksiders up to now by far, however, is how I convinced my absolutely disgusting and awful roommate that the game's title is actually "Eternal Sonata." Because he's a copycat and a gigantic retard, he immediately jumped on eBay to buy it and, confused by Eternal Sonata's cover art, asked me to confirm that he was bidding on the right game, to which I said, "It's Japan. Come on, Zorin (yes his name is Zorin seriously and if you ever meet him you will wish you hadn't)."
Long story short, it wasn't hard to find the auction he was bidding on since he showed it to me, and I proceeded to outbid him at every turn. He ended up paying over $200US for Eternal. Sonata.
