Ahahaha man I do not regret the 150 hours I've spent on that game!
I'm glad to see some else uses the same mask as me, isn't it beautiful? Combo it with the dark armor when you get it. It looks fucking boss!
I've yet to finish my second play through, although I've got a lot of dicking around to do before I do the boss.
I've recently returned to Lost Odyssey and boy oh boy this game is hands down my favourite. The world is very well built and the thousand years of memories thing gives the entire world a lot if depth as well as showing you parts of the characters that you never knew existed.
I especially love Seth story and the one about the shoe maker. It was so simple yet so nice.
My favourite character is a toss up between Seth and Mack. Although you cannot deny Kaims awesomeness!
I'm on the last disk but something tells me I've still got a ways to go.
Anyway if you have a 360 and haven't played this game, get it. It's one of those rare game that is really engaging, challenges you and makes you feel deep emotional bonds with the characters.
Also the ring system with the battle system is pretty awesome. I might replicate something like that in a future game. It keeps the battles freash while retaining the old elements!
The power was out last night so I watched a bunch of game trailers that I downloaded back in 2006-7 on my laptop. One of the games I really wanted to play was Atelier Iris 3: Grand Phantasm. Of course back then I didn't know how mediocre GUST rpgs were.
But since I finished the Ar Tonelico series I figured I would order this one. Hoping a 2D rpg will inspire me to continue making game sprites.
Analyzing the writing of Atelier Iris 3. It's comprehensive and to the point, but a little dry. They rely on the voice actors and reaction portraits to give the character personalities.
Speaking of voice actresses, This is Nell. According to her profile she's suppose to be an energetic and rowdy 15yo. She's voiced by Jessica Straus who is very talented but for some reason she voiced Nell in a cute little kid voice which I don't think is appropriate for a character with that much cleavage and a unique "Devil's Panties" item only she can equip.
The only other Atelier game I've played was Totori which is very heavy on character development. I think all of Gust's RPGs are. But this game isn't that deep. At least not yet. I'm only on chapter 4 out of 10 I think.
I know that. Depth as in, Totori had motivations for being an Alchemist and Adventurer. The story wasn't exactly compelling but it was still enjoyable watching her relationships grow and eventually learn what happened to her mother.
With Iris it's like, "Lets go do quests at the guild". I have no clue if Edge and Iris are just friends or a couple or why they do anything together in the first place. I wasn't expecting them to be this flat.
I was replaying FFX HD remaster and grinding the rest of the sphere grid after beating the Dark Aeons/Penance and just lost interest. It's a distant goal. I'll take the lazy way out and replace luck spheres with something easy like MDEF spheres.
I'm not doing the Chocobo Racing nonsense again and dodging 200 lightning bolts is a cry for help.
Now to work through FFX-2...I think Brother is going to be a permanent party member.
Moving on to Time and Eternity. It's got to have the worst introduction in the history of rpgs. They're literally just sitting around having tea; talking about their wedding.
If you don't know it was marketed as an "animated" rpg. Instead of 3d models it uses animated portraits. Just stringing the same handful of motions together in different ways.
Actually it works well for the battle system. But it looks cheap everywhere else. My biggest problem is the voices.
The first thing I had to do was turn up the voices all the way up. Then turn the other sounds down. It's still hard to make out what they are saying during boss battles.
The second problem is the actors. It's the usual anime dubbing crew. Is it really so hard to find different talent? Hire actual performers! They aren't doing any favors by hiring the same people who do parts in every game and anime series; it makes them sound exactly the same. Not trying to dis the actors, they can do a lot of different characters. But when it comes to the main characters, especially the females, their range is pretty small.
had the 360 version a few years ago. Its a particularly inaccessible game but the PC version certainly makes it a bit of a smoother ride, it was incredibly easy to break the game on the XB version but the complicated systems have been slightly streamlined on the PC version.
I recommend it, its a 'Deep' game with a steep difficulty curve but if you have the patience to look some stuff up online its incredibly enjoyable.
I would suggest playing with a plug-in 360 controller when you do decide to play it. Camera and movement is much less janky that way.
Aww, man. Already disappointed with The last Remnant . Can't blame it all on square though. The first music I hear is the battle theme used in this browser rpg/ multiplayer arena game called Wartune. Apparently, Wartune borrowed it's music from other games like The last Remnant and Y's 7.
But since I played Wartune first, I already associate the music with a bad game and its ruined the experience.
Also, once again, Johnny Yong Bosch voices the main character.
Are my expectations too high?
I decided to get a fan translation of Mother.
Playing that now. This shit has the weirdest enemies.
"Hippie used megaphone
'YOUR MOTHER THINKS YOU'RE A DISGRACE'"
I wish had like, selective amnesia, and could just forget certain films or video games. The most fun I've had playing any game was being completely new to RuneScape (and the same in BattleOn and Guild Wars, but not as much). I wanna be new again but to the whole genre.
Tried getting back into RuneScape but I don't even know how to play any more, the game has changed so much. Even on the character I made a year (maybe a couple...) ago to do all the free quests with now has a mostly empty quest list, as they've removed most of the old ones and replaced them with new ones... No more quick errand runners. Which is good, but I dunno, it's not the game it used to be now. Maybe that's a good thing too.
I can't get away from this bloody game. I've had it 3 days and I've already hit level 72 and 42 (from 0), and the only thing that really motivates me anymore is transmogging.. which is fruitless at the end of the day.
previous to WoW was Banjo Kazooie, Tooie, and Ocarina of Time.
