Awesome Bro

Still playing Yakuza 3 by the way, the game is just so good, I mean, at first I was a little iffy because it's all in Japanese with subtitles, but now it just feels so natural since they're speaking their own language instead of some horrible generic american accent that you find on JRPG's...

I'm only on Chapter 4, but I've put 14 hours into it, and I've got 7% completion, seems it'll keep me hooked for a while since there's quite a selection of things to do, I'm trying to catch every item in fishing, need to catch two more fish then I'll have 'em all, I'm assuming one of those is a Tuna (You get a trophy for catching one) but I can't find one with any of the bait I use... and then I've entered 3 golf tournaments and come 2nd in all of 'em, I need to come first! D:

Oh well, this game is amazing, it'll keep me occupied for a while...

... Lovely, the first prototype for Move was in 2001, before the Gamecube came out, let alone the Wii...

"The colored-sphere based 3D wand tracking technology was publicly demonstrated as early as 2000 and 2001"

good for them, and if they were smart they would have released it to the general public instead of HEY LOOK AT US WE ARE NEW AND INTERESTING. at this point its just ripping off every other motion based thing, even if it was just hypothetical

imo you dont really need to look at it from a gimmick perspective. tbh, motion-activated non-peripheral control seems like the future in gaming, and what we are seeing in the wiimotes/moves/kinects/etc are the grass roots foundations of that.

if someone could actually master the tech to allow a person to control a game using only their movements (hands/eyes/etc), with true precision, the applications for it are huge. not even in gaming but in the medical field and countless other areas.

if it ever got to the point where you could control shit with brain impulses though i imagine that'd be the pinnacle of this particular tech innovation curve--but the idea of that makes me nervous :P

your ignorance is showing.

if you knew anything about it, you'd realize that it's over 8999 times better than nintendo AND microsoft's motion controls.

I have been playing Little King's Story for the Wii. I made a thread about it a long time ago. viewtopic.php?f=17&t=69002

So basically the jist is you conquer the world.

First off its rather adorable beyond belief. It just has this cutesy feel to it even though its pretty gruesome in nature. Its almost like Pikmin in a way just you have less people and people are more significant. For example if someone dies people they knew will be wearing funeral clothes. :c

There is a lot of stuff to do. Everytime you beat a boss you get a Princess and she has a quest that is usually about filling a book with something. One is filling a book with enemy info and another is filling a book on types of foods you find. They are all different and it feels like it went the extra mile. Im a sucker for bestiaries and collector things. The enemy bestiary by the way is absolutely adorable.

The game is surprisingly challenging in a good way for the most part. There is not room for error. And there are always surprises tucked in here and there, but they arent to common. Its not like "surprise half your men are dead" its more like "oh dear a surprise lets handle it in the best way".

City building isnt super exciting but it still isnt bad. Its like you spend this much money to buy this building that will be placed at this exact location. your population goes up and stuff and you gain new access to jobs buts its not like build your city the way you want it. Still expanding your range of land is pretty rewarding.

Bosses are pretty cool beyond belief sometimes and they are like bosses you have never faced before. They are refreshing and different.

So like after you go through this depressing maze on whether or not your life is futile or not, Im not making it sound depressing but when you read sign after sign about a persons life and how his girlfriend broke up with him or how all he does is work and work and doesnt have time to enjoy life to how he is stuck in a nursing home and he wasnt able to do things he wanted to do it just makes you rather depressed. :c While listening to the music, i dont know it just made you feel insignificant that all we really are going to do is live and die.

Music

Anyways, after you pass through this depressing maze you are greeted by this adorable egg people.

And also you see this giant egg. Anyways the egg asks you a series of question and you answer them by breaking the assorted object associated with the answer. For example it asked me a riddle, What grows with grass and withers with fire, or something of the sort. The answer was fire so I found a torch and broke it with my men. I won the round. Of course there were enemies and everything but whatever.

Boss Music

So yeah but the questions got harder and more chaotic. But it was something different.

PrimeTime Kingdom Music
So after you go through this maze of enemies shooting you and whatnot you end up at the boss of the PrimeTime kingdom. The opening video is reminiscent of 1984 and has that sort of vibe, it definitely makes an allusion or two. Its pretty cool looking.

So there is this giant radio tower in the middle and King Dinnah is giving you hints of where he is. You see, the area is actually a huge map of the world and you have to pinpoint where he is from his clues. They arent hard clues but they made you think. So once you select on which country you think it is, all hell breaks lose. You see, you actually have to dig out the hole on where the flag is. You still dont know on whether you are correct or not. Anyways, planes are dropping bombs and little army men are trying to kill you. It mentions WW3 and thats the play of the theme. So once you finally dig up the flag and see if you are correct one of two things happen. If you were wrong, you are transported to one of the fore torture stations for a certain amount of time. Some of them are really weird. There was a baby channel and all these baby images were all over the place and there was steam stuff trying to kill you oh dear.

0.jpg

So anyways if you got it correct, TV Dinnah pops out. He is a person with a TV head and a cowboy hat. So you go and attack him he runs away after a certain amount of time rinse repeat. Ive never played something even close to that kind of boss battle it was really original.

So yeah the game is pretty fun i have a gripe here and there Ill talk about later.

Awesome Bro

So I'm still playing Yakuza 3, damn it keeps getting better and better, and some of the substories are really cool to do, like this one I've done, I had to take over as the lead actor in a film, and had to read a script, and do everything according to the script, but the director told me I can improvise if it will look cooler, so instead of doing the fight scenes as the script intended (It told me to grab one guy and throw him to the floor etc. but it was specific with the names), I threw a plant pot at some guy, put a jug on another guys head then smashed it, and cut through people with a Katana, and I even forgot some of the lines I was meant to say (You have an option of three, one is the right one, one is the improvised "will sound cooler", while the other is improvised "won't sound too good", but meh I pulled it off and the director was happy lol.

Yeah, it's keeping me occupied, I've put over 20 hours into it, and my completion total is 8.8%, I'm guessing only 20% of this will be the actual story, since I'm on Chapter 6, and I THINK there's 12 chapters, oh well, I've only done a quarter of the substories, and still have to discover over half of the minigames, and each of the minigames have their own objectives you can do, like reach level 50 on some gradius game (It's like gradius but only cooler...), or get EVERY prize from the grabber machine, win so much in poker, etc. etc.

Oh well, back off to play some more! D:

@psiclone
haha yeah, I have to play it in short bursts because I'm a pansy. I finally got past the library yesterday, and I have a feeling it's only going to get worse from here.

@ven
it is so cool oh my goodness I think in ways it even surpasses Silent Hill. I won't give anything away but the running + hiding ('cause you can't really fight the monsters) is amazing for upping the tension. also it has insanity effects, awesome ones
I about flipped when the walls started closing in on me

well hot damn
did you ever play Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem?
i've been itching for a gimmick like the "sanity meter"
it just added such a fantastic element to the game

like walking into a room FULL of ammo all over the floor, or the television "shutting off" or "adjusting volume"
or the save file thing ... you hit [save] and it goes "deleting all save files ..." in an official-looking screen
ahahaha i even fell for that one and was like "WHAT" for a sec
