What are you working on? (Game Making Thread)

Currently working on a survival horror game called Flatline.

Concept is pretty simple. You play a guy who was in a car crash and then wakes up in an abandoned hospital (he's in a coma and the hospital is essentially purgatory), you are pursued by creatures that were once people who had previously died in said hospital, you have no weapon, no healing items and if your caught, you die.

The game has a fully built karma system that will alter the personality of the lead guy and eventually effect the ending (his and the other people you will meet)

I plan to have a demo for this project out in a few weeks as I only have to make sprites and maps before I will have fully playable content.

...saved myself a shitload of time and disk space by replacing button images with just a plain button with text added on top, and then coded it as a bbcode, so instead of making individual buttons I can just do:

{b}Start Game{/b}

Just found out I can import and export my entire database as Excel files, this is going to increase productivity a thousandfold for what I need to do right now! In fact, with no extra systems needed, I can now edit my entire NPC conversations in one file. I'll be able to make hundreds, very quickly.

Edit: now pissing myself as I press "empty" to import the file again. No matter how many backups you take, emptying/dropping tables is scary.

Hit a bit of a mental drought in regards to writing Flatline so I have decided to put it off until I get hit by my next wave of inspiration.

Currently I'm writing the music for Flatline and have started a fruity little Limbo inspired game called Blank.

Blank is set in the nightmares of a young unnamed child. It will feature various things that people have bad dreams about such as ghosts, drowning, falling, bugs, darkness, a chainsaw wielding maniac and for a nice little cameo...

...your friendly neighborhood Slenderman.

Could be a little premature but I think I just hammered in the last nail for Lucid Awakening 2. Except the last couple nails went in crooked. Poor craftsmanship on my part. But if it's good enough for him then my part is over.

Finishing up university reports (Due Monday) and then packaging up the BWRPG Engine for submission (Due Friday) AND THEN I AM FREE.

I am getting incredibly tempted to re-approach the RGSS3x.dll hacking and make an open-RGSS library, Glitch and avarisc's work is just fantastic and gets me eager to jump back into pointer hackery.

On top of that, getting RPG Maker games running on OS X natively would be nice!

It's notable that there is actually an open RGSS project already, but it's all implemented in Ruby. Just Google "OpenRGSS" and it's really easy to find.

I have been watching that project for some time, but because it's all in Ruby I'm not really that interested in it, I'm more interested in a binary run-time that can be forked into a game-engine in it's own right.

Opened up my pixel art again and did some work on stairs. Who knows; maybe I'll finish my Inquisitor tileset redux sometime. There's so much to do though! This is why the original releases took several years, of course.

Perhaps I should post my little screen test. There's a problem with the bottom-most set of stairs which I fixed afterwards and then I reorganized the stairs tiles.

Aw man. Made some nice progress on this rogue-like.
I'm using Processing since I have a friend who is teaching me it!
So a few weeks ago, I posted saying I had the first step in random monster generation.
Now I have the second.
Managed to code lil squares that generate on the map randomly. It's not perfect but still!
Tomorrow I'll work on some class designs I think...
I want to get map gen done too, cause monster gen kinda will be deturmined by the maps.
PUMPPED.

Well I got some free time to experiment with stuff. I'm going to see about making a GL window compositor for GUI systems, I have some nice ideas on how to efficiently redraw windows

Spent most of the afternoon figuring out a way to change the color of selected text. Then the other half guessing and testing X and Y values. After getting this far I've decided I don't like it.

I'm exploring other font choices.
I never notice it before but I really like how FFXII displays numbers. It shows all the digits but fades any 0s in front. I'll have to try that.

I'm going to have to redo the background anyways. The gradient lighting doesn't work well with text that stays the same color.

Messing around in VX ace with a previously used rpg idea.
Nothing's going to come out of it, but it's fun to stretch the mental muscles.
There's a bunch of yanfly scripts and they're really good with customization.
