What are you reading?

I just finished the lastest Xanth novel, Two to the fifth and Turtledove's The Man with the Iron Heart.

The Xanth was okay, but it was seriously fucked up. TMWTIH would have been a great story at any other time, but echoed too clearly the Iraq situation (it's about a post WWII nazi insurgency) to be really enjoyable.

i'm reading jurassic park from Critchon. I actually enjoy reading it because it's much more in-depth then the movies.

I haven't read a xanth book in years.

@gravija: the books are nothing like the movie, especially The Lost World. Personally I think they were much better.

Anyways, I'm now reading The Bone Doll's Twin by Lynn Flewelling. I'm about halfway, and it is a really good book. It's about a child who was born a girl but has the body of a boy (her twin) because of dark magic performed at her birth to protect her from her uncle, the king, who was killing all the females of the royal line so they wouldn't challenge his rule. Traditionally, this nations royal family is matrilineal and only queens can rule without fear of extended bouts of plague, famine or drought because of a prophecy made several hundred years past.

Creepy as hell book. Too bad it's so short, you could easily finish it in a day.

Well I don't usually read, but funilly enough, I stumbled across a copy of Eragon while at my nans house (She loves reading), and thought "Hey what the heck, it's gotta be better than that shit ass movie" (I thought the movie was terrible and heard the book was better), and so far it's actually, oh lets see... a hell of a lot better than the movie, it goes more in depth with everything,

Can anyone suggest what to read after this ? I'm debating between Brisingr and Eldest, anyone read either of these two and can tell me which I should be reading next ?

Um, the next book in the series? Eldest? It's usually pretty wise to just go with the order of things rather than skip around!

Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Eienreich. This is for school, unfortunately. This book makes me weep as I attempt to read it's boring ass pages.

i read some philip pullman books recently, i read the back cover out of curiosity and thought i might read them i thought northern lights was better than the film
