I figure I should probably post here since it's almost a month since the last design notes...

So what have I been working on?

The past few days I've been working on and off on the combat skill system of Vengeance. Having a personal roster didn't seem to work, it had many bugs and just didn't give enough... variety when fighting. So you can now use any skill that you have the requirements for, at any time.

Requirements however include:

- A specific level in a certain class
- MP points
- An item, such as a scroll, or spellbook

Progress:

- Skills are cast when their icon is clicked
- Skill window appears when mouse moves to the bottom of the screen (and disappears when mouse is moved away)
- Skills take away the required MP
- Skills check for class levels

- Skills do not take away required items
- Skills do not turn greyscale when requirements are not met
- Skill description window hasn't yet been made (the dark browny-grey box)

The skills, if anyone is interested, are:

Smoke, Fireball, Mark of Darkness, Lightning Bolt, Ray of Light, Teleport Islana, Waterfall, Controlled Strike, Revive, Healing Energy, Blood Fusion, Flame, Double Cut, Healing Spirit, Bat Swarm, Icicle, Cross Cut, Steady Blow, Gaze of the Vampire, Life Force, Teleport Green Forest, Weaken, Vampiric Swarm, Focus, Aura of Darkness, Spiritual Power, Elemental Ward, Crystalisis, Consume Ally, Triple Attack.

There is a good reason for not doing it as an exe.
Some download sites and providers forbid their use.
As for using .rar instead of .zip is more a matter of preference and convenience.
It has been a long time since I made a .zip which was smaller than .rar although the biggest reason for me at least is that I can .rar things more quicker due to the context menu adds by WinRAR.

For opening RAR's you can google for WinRAR and 7-Zip. You can also try googling for Compression Tools.

@Migard: If your friend has a dedicated server they are most likely hosting something else on it, so they probably wont want to host an online game on top of that as it would heavily eat up resources. The game's laggy enough running off my normal PC, let alone a web server running other things.
 
Okiddly dokiddly.

After the main island (which is actually a peninsula, but whatever) the player finds themselves in Nia, or the Guardianship of the Green Forest (it's normally just referred to as Green Forest by the locals).

This is an extension of one of the first maps I ever made for Vengeance. It was origionally the small chunk at the top of this screenshot, please ignore that bit partially as I don't have time to re-screenshot that area. But just imagine that the coast extends Easternly and joins up like it looks like it should, and imagine the top bit mapped better. Also, ignore partially the Western block as that isn't mapped yet. The rest is sort of... basically mapped, for now.

In the North is... can't remember what it's called right now. :/ In the South, from left to right: Kehari Wetlands, Nalba Grove, Ascen Coast.
