The sketch thread!

If you can't tell it's suppose to be a battler for rpg maker MV's Actor 1. I'm about as happy with this pose as I was with my first attempt earlier this year that I never completed. I think I can push it a further. Maybe have him holding his scabbard and drawing/sheathing his sword? Doesn't feel right for a battler through, the others are crouching/aiming/striking, but in this he's posing for the camera. Grrrr, not enough action!

I am unlikely to finish this.

Was going to be a front-facing reference pose for testing out costume ideas for a certain character. Takes me too long to get things done so I'm giving up early. Got the entire body shape roughed out but inking and colouring is too much of a pain in the ass.

So Inktober is a thing and I've been late some days but I'm caught up now.

Day 2: Divided
zSCq3NU.png

Doing Pep's split between his two psyches (angel gene and devil-gene) and himself was the idea that played out most in my head. The Cherubim is the name given to an anomaly-- one not even meant to exist, that is mortal, as well as in possession of an angel gene, and a devil gene. This creature if known to exist, would be erased immediately.

But even the hidden cherub didn't know of its true power, and it would not learn of its potential until the assumed master of control had been made obsolete.

It is possible Pep might ascend to his Cherubim form in Fantasia.

Day 3: Poison
3xA2ccN.png

It was either Blood Maiden Kyon or Malibu the Tainted, since kyon had already been largely reviewed and Malibu had only a sprite, i decided it was time to concept her at last.

Some are not for the more fast and furious methods, some prefer drawing out the death and decline of their targets, Malibu was one such twisted individual. Starting out in necromancy, she discovered her minions were too frail, and she grew impatient with the craft, and took a similar but different school, plaguecraft- it is possible that Malibu in life was the unknown creator of the bubonic plague, and in death she's even more morally bankrupt- now armed with the devils magicks, and an amplified appreciation for what death offers, Malibu was one of Naxon's lieutenants in his insurrection of Neo-Britain, alongside Zeryx the Wicked, Saxxis Bufudyne, Esperia Frostwhisper and Warth'og. Malibu met her deserved end at the tempest of Tiramisa Cookiedoe along with Zeryx, Saxxis, Esperia and Warth'og lived on to be defeated or changed by her sons.

Day 4: Underwater
TP9GcTT.png

Originally I was intending to concept the underwater metropolis of the halfling race, Shortirego, but my brain asn't coming up with any cool ideas, so i decided to draw kelp Elves and some aquatic life instead.

Kelp Elves are a species of Elves, unlike the other races of Elves living on Nadine, the Kelp Elves are sea-dwellers- and unlike the wood elves, are welcoming and curious about other species. Often times adventurers who are shipwrecked or stranded are rescued by Kelp Elves, and treated like family.

Day 5: Long

This ridiculously silly piece was inspired from a gag that started a month or two ago when I drew a certain Lumi.

Bath Time!
8AWmKaX.png

Not related to Inktober, drew this from on the moment inspiration, it's Lilac, Lumi and Koko all bathing together for the first (and last) time. Lumi is being playful as usual, Lilac is being surprisngly gentle and even washing Lumi while she derps around playing crocadile, Koko meanwhile is getting all hella embarrassed about it.

That's all for now.

Awesome Bro

Day 5: Methinks you've spelled the word "dessert" wrong, unless you're talking about her physically eating a desert of sand, then fair do's.

oops, yeah thats on me

More Inktobers, yee!

Sword

First one of these to look like it might genuinely be done with ink. It's Gerald Gelati from Menagerie holding the iconic Osmosian Timebender / Doomsday sword.

Shy

Fyori is the one being shy in the image, I ship these two way too much, BUT this experiment of colored lines turned out to be... interesting.

Crooked
PgBswed.png

There were a lot of good fits but Esperia just always seems to fill the void in creepy crooked types.

My next theme is screech. I admit this one may be challenging.

The point is to draw daily.
Some people have lists or themes they draw from. Some people keep it halloween related. Some people don't call it Inktober at all. Some people call it Inktober for different reasons. Like "ink" is in the community/club name. Inking is traditional process in comic creation - the word just lends itself well to substituting the first 3 letters of the month.
I also hear Octopus Ink washes/watercolors are a thing in Alaska, I dunno if that's a seasonal thing or not. But it definitely has a macabre look to it that fits the halloween season.

Alright. So I could spend forever just adding & erasing details on this. But I got to stop. I guess it's good enough as it is. The question is...can I finalize it? Or rather - will I? - not to make it sound like I lack confidence in my abilities. It's just tedious, you know?

I'll take a 30min break and then force myself to make a battler out of this sketch. Then maybe I go back to that Actor_1 battler, ugh...clothes, so many details to clean up.

Not 100% finished. Testing it out in MV first. Maybe see what other people think of it. I want to make the fins more transparent. Finer hair. I think I can highlight the scales better, but I worry about putting too much detail in it.
Shadow? Bubbles? Water veil? Decisions...decisions...

I'll sleep on it.

Awesome Bro

I really need to get back into drawing more, but everytime I get round to it my imagination decides to fuck right off and I have no idea what to draw.

I need to get better at drawing poses. My method is just - draw. erase. draw. erase. until something looks good.

Edit: And I forced myself to do some clean lines. Even though there's no point to something like this.

I always thought there should be male elementals. I'm sure I've got sketches but never did anything beyond that.
I dunno, I still think I'm doing something wrong. I think because I keep reference the female and kid characters, I'm not quite drawing the male form as Rasenjin would.

edit: Actually after resting my eyes a bit, I think mine isn't far off. It's just the pose is weird. His head was suppose to be nodding up, but it kinda looks like it's twisted back far over his shoulder. Idk, if I have it in me to redraw it again.
