Today I started working on a new project, to write CSV files for StudyDroid.com from your PC, so then you can upload them to the website. I came up with the idea since it's a hazzle to write a pack online (takes too long). I'm using Netbeans IDE, writing on Java, and using the Substance Look And Feel. I'm just starting, but this should be over pretty quick.

Looking good. Not sure what studydroid.com is though, will have to check it out.

My game generator is doing a great impression of a noob at the moment. It just generated this town map:

From a bank of 19 "mapletts" (tiny maps put together to make one big map).

Need to add detailing and such. And yeah the mapletts themselves really suck, but this is a proof of concept rather than of my mapping :p

obsorber: that video isn't much of a "teaser" it's much too long for that, it shows actual game play and everything so I'd say it's a trailer. That being said, you put to use the RMXP graphics very very well, the mapping was excellent and it looks like the story is epic. I'd give this game a shot.

As for myself, I've been getting back into drawing cartoons as of late, and I combined with my preferred cartoon-drawing style with RPG Maker XP and this is what I came out with, keep in mind that this isn't a real game (yet), no storyline or characters have been developed, maybe soon.

And yes that is motion blur.

More map items definitely need to be added, but I've only been working on this for about a day or so.

Yes, they are. shiwt, those graphics are from somebody's game, they've been taken (hacked) from it over the years somewhere along the lines. Whether you know this or not I don't know.

Now this person (Euphony) has specifically come here in the past to defend the exact same thing, so I'd advise you stop using them.

They are really just simple RTP edits, for the best part (the ones in that screenshot I mean) besides the tree.

I might have a go at making some similar graphics in the future, but Euphony has said he doesn't want people using those. Unless you've had permission from him of course.

I won't follow it up too harshly because you may not have been aware, however if you release a game with them we would have to remove it for plagiarism.

If you got that tileset from Euphony on good terms then I apologise.

That's interesting... I wonder when someone will take all those PKMN games down for ripped graphics. Or those of people who never bought the license for an RPG Maker and therefore can't use the RTP. Not that I'm trying to defend theft of art (on the contrary), but after years of applying the "if I don't take money for it, it's okay" prevarications, it seems kind of random to say some resources are fine to use even if there's no rights to do so, but others are absolutely not okay for the very same reasons.
Again, I'm not trying to defend taking other people's stuff - just trying to keep a single issue from being bloated up while a dozen PKMN games basically could be titled "This game has no original resources whatsoever".

Just saying though... and for what it's worth, I'm impressed how your map generator's coming along :) Would be cool to see the 'source maps', which I assume is the individual houses?

The difference is Euphony has actually come here to defend himself.

I gotta admit, I do agree with you on rips, and iiif they weren't so prolific something should be done. Indeed any game that uses rips and doesn't credit should go at the very least.

I agree it's hypocritical. Maybe it's something the staff need to discuss.

I think, at the very least, the rule should be that a disclaimer should be added saying:
This game uses graphics created by [x company / y person]. I am using them because [insert silly reason here]. If they want me to stop using them they need only ask and I will do so. Apologies for any inconvenience.
I think we're going off topic here though - and I will bring this up in the staff forum instead where we can discuss it properly.

In the mean time shiwt we won't pursue any rules on you, but it's something to keep in mind. Sorry.

It's probably easy to see a sort of breakup into four scenes, what with the autotiles etc, these are the mapletts. Other things (trees, other details) are added through randomly placing events, and then the actual exits are fixed events.

I'm new to this forum and wanted to post a quick video of my current project. (I assume videos are fine in the screenshot thread).

I need some help testing the multiplayer stuff I've worked on so far if anyone is interested :)

So... Euphony drew that tree? I asked around on another forum and Lunarea told me it was Mack's work. :/

Wizered: I'm not much for Minecraft, but the technical aspect is really impressive.

I'm working on a new project which is bigger than anything I have done so far... for that matter I could use some input on these screenshots, we're using painted maps which will give us more freedom:

@Delmaschio: I LOVE the style you've got going on there. It looks really fresh and unlike anything I've seen done in RMXP. The candles on the table look a bit weird next to the painted tiles however... but still, overall I think the style works great.

That RTP edit issue is a really tricky one IMO... I'm not entirely sure how much ownership one has over something that's been edited, especially when that resource is licensed to anyone with a copy of RMXP. I don't condone "stealing" resources in any way shape or form, but when it's something that's mostly RTP... I don't know, it's tricky...

Uh... my head hurts now.

Anyways. Screenie time. This one is to show off the climbing system and animation in HEX - The Calling as well as the island caves tileset.

Vexed: the screenshot is unusually dark. Take it from me, I've made an entire demo/game with super dark screens, that screen is hard to judge. In game I'd image it's lots easier, especially when there are candles and junk in it, but trying to judge it as a screenshot is kind of hard.
Other than that the cave is very nicely done. There's not that many things cluttering it up, but the cave structure and things happening in it help to give it an organic feel.

Back after nearly 1.5 years (or longer) and back with a new game. I dropped my fan-game months ago . Anyway, a project I'm working on in VX, called Enelysion.. I'll get a topic up soon. :)

Another screenshot, I'm not really liking the cliffs, too blurry, aren't they?

The softness doesn't bother me, but they aren't connected to the ground, they really look like they're hovering.
