Craybeast, these graphics are ripped or custom? Or both. ;p
Everything is great, except faces. ;x They are kinda bad. I don't like they cartoonish style.

I think the heavy shaded noses are just backwards:

Does that look any better?

I sometimes draw anime noses in that style. Most times it's filled in with black though along with the ink color and there's other black shadows.

Here's the second part of the first cut scene in my game, its after a battle in the woods (as you can see the knocked out people on the right):

How do you guys like this style for cut scenes? I made the background myself with the help of a photoshop tutorial. The characters were made using Ragnarok Character Simulator. Text will go along with it of course. Thoughts?

This might not seem like much but I'm proud.

Basically my previous videos of this was a psuedo-3D view by scanning along a texture and throwing pixels on where needed, the problem is performance wasn't great at all and I ran into serious visual bugs. After many weeks of optimising and getting the performance from 10fps to 100fps on low-end PCs, I decided to scrap it and go for a true 3D engine. This is a big learning curve for me that I conquered in 5 minutes. Why didn't I do this before.

So now I can port this over to my map engine to produce renders to send off to the artist for backgrounds. I can probably create 3D boxes for the player to open. I can't do modelling so it'll end there!

Seeing as it's a tile it might be better flooding a field with it for test videos like that rather than showing one tile, idk. Looks good tho :L)

But it's my first ever 3D tile D:

Why can't you guys ever be happy for me you're the worst parents in the world!

Thanks guys!
About the noses, it's just a matter of taste, I've seen those kind of noses being used many times before, I got the idea from some pictures from "Slayers".
The scripter, I like it, but I feel the background is too abstract, It's like you used a bunch of photoshop filters and threw them together, I think it needs more stuff like trunks, and there's too many floating leaves around.
I want an opinion guys, ignoring the ripped graphics, do you like how this looks? Or does this view looks weird to you?

I dunno... the angle of the characters and the angle of the walls seems off to me.

Thanks for the input craybest! someone else also told me the background is too abstract so I tried my best to change it around. I added tree trunks, tried to do a little better with containing the leaves, and lowered the grass to make it look more realistic. Here's the new look, what do you guys think:

Please tell me if you guys see so more things I can fix, I want to make this as good as possible. Thanks!

This looks much better than the last one, but what type of game are you making? I'm guessing its a 3 quarter view RPG judging by the Ragnarok template with just a side-view cutscene, in which case you might want to give it more perspective, like add a tree in the foreground. Also I'd say actually raise the ground level a bit, so the action isnt based entirely on the very bottom of your screen, with a lot of empty space above.

Thanks for the input, actually, I'm attempting to use the Ragnarok sprites for a tactical battle system. It'll be hard, but I've already figured a way to put it in the template I'm using. And yea, I'll try to raise the ground a bit, that sounds like a good idea. But what do you mean by adding a tree to the foreground? Thanks again for the input!

yeah it looks strange because most iso games aren't a straight 45degrees.

as wikipedia says:

Technically, an isometric angle would be of 30 degrees from the horizontal, but this is avoided since the pixels created by a line drawing algorithm would not follow a neat pattern. To fix this, lines with a 1:2 pixel ratio are picked, leading to an angle of about 26.6 degrees (arctan 0.5).

the sprites are probably made for a regular isometric angle, which seems wider and a lot less cramped than what you have there. imo your sprites will have to be done to match the new angle or it might be easier to adopt the traditional iso angle rather than the awkward perfect 45.
