The Final Fantasy XIII Menu script so far. This is not a mock-up.

EDIT: The character windows can be resized and moved around the canvas.

@juan --- I do like that so far, all the text is legible :)

I've had to redo my whole project. Yay corrupt files! I am just glad that I wasn't months into it and have this happen to me. Heh. Anyways, Redone house is below. C&C would be nice. I'm going over this slowly adding all the conditional branches for events, etc. To cover all my bases I've got one specific event that needed three conditional branches. Yay...

Sorry if I am "spamming" with just one thing... I want it to end up prefect.

Why do the ceilings come down where there are doors? It looks weird. Also, if there's a door in the south of that room you have a close-up of (I see the event in the editor), it's not obvious at all.

Most of the new elements in the script can't be seen in a still screenshot. I'll make a video as soon as the menu is more polished. The background is a seamless looping video. It's hard to get quality stock footage, but so far, I like this video.

The video itself does not lag. The notorious amount of moving sprites, on the other hand, can be a handful. In general, it's pretty smooth. Nonetheless, I will include an option to minimize menu dynamics and increase performance.

there was no interest, i couldn't get people to test it for me. its on the back burner, i got 3 other huge scripts im working on. but i do plan on finishing it by june

I love the idea of the menu background. I know it's wrong but I love flashiness in games sometimes.
Many people would agree with you. Most who wouldn't are probably lying. The human brain is much more attached and drawn in to visual stimuli than say...reading. I think it's that notion that plagues our little community.

Yeah; I shudder when people say to stop making things so graphically oriented. I love flashy things that draw my attention, it can even make a boring click-click-click battle system exciting and enthralling.

Thanks for the comments. I will consider attempting to make a video. As long as I can get footage that doesn't appear to lag. The enemy sprites are from various sources, while the main character is a custom franken-sprite. However, the animations for the player were all created by myself.

Also, I'm afraid you're mistaken; I'm not using a lighting script. That's actually a good old fashioned event, showing a picture. I prefer eventing if possible, the fewer scripts I use, the less they interfere with each other. Anywho, it doesn't lag; and that's only in the dark cave areas. Use the lantern to illuminate the darkness, and also ignite enemies/torches.

Edit: Added a video. The video quality doesn't really do the game justice, and the video lag doesn't exist in the game itself, but it'll at least give you an idea at what the project is like.
