i;m not too sure about the sharp triangle mountain thing. For one, it's slightly unnatrual like that, so sharp and all, and just poking out like that. Additionally, i'm not too sure about the bottom triangle, not too sure what's going on.

I think one or two trees might have too many leaves, but it might be my constant exposure to rtp graphics

other than that i don;t have too many qualms, it would probably look better once i actually play it and stuff

Criticism? One thing though, for my own criticising myself, is the table, that looks like the plates are nearly gonna fall out looks wierd. :D:

Showing off the new art style of Beyond the Dead Roads.

That red dot is the mouse cursor, which directs character movement, amongst other things.

Disregard the blandness of the map; I'm currently working on character movement AI, so level design is nowhere near priority. The textbox is just there to show that the character can sometimes move during text display.

Ive been seriously wondering about the style of my maps in the current in making game, and i wanted high quality stuff, i don't know if people thinks this map is good or not?, but feedback would be more than welcome, this map took me some time to make, but i was getting to know the tileset

Not really. The second one looks like a crappy flash game in the making (no offense), while the first one looks like an awesome pixel art style game with lots of style.

The issue is that, though I'm fine with static images, I'm not actually too great at pixel animation. I have a much greater knowledge of 3D animation. I can easily change the character style to one more fitting for the genre and mood of the game while still sticking to 3D. Would you suggest that I instead spend more time working on pixel animation?

I think your mapping skills are quite fine.

Make the 3d animations, split them into 4 frames, reduce the size, and pixel over it.
Why not?

@LegSicon
I absolutely love your mapping there. But just one thing sticks out - that floating waterfall. It looks like it's just floating there. It's got nothing behind it, so it looks out of place.
Oh, and 12 down, 14 over (from topright) there's a elevated ground that's 2 tiles up, while all the other grounds around it are only 1. I can see you did that again, at 18down, 7 over (topright) only this time it's 3 tiles up, while the rest is 1.

I'm a big fan of the "abstract pixel horror" look too :x

like action said, you could always make your animations in flash and use it as a reference/pixel right over it.

Er... sorry for asking that, but can you comment my screenshot? It was in the last page, but you guys jumped it =p

Best Regards

I am quite interested in what you've done here. It looks like Inq's sets with a filter and new trees. What filter did you use? Just a localized blur to take the edge off the pixels? Those trees look really nice, but they're too small. Not that they shouldn't be used, but there ought to be much bigger trees than that as well.
