Awesome Bro

Rain and Train? Pretty similar and odd names (Well, Rain is a generic JRPG name, Train is... pretty unique I suppose)

Looks pretty decent though, I'd like to see the animation... animate.

The trick is, that we export the tile arrays of the maps into an XML-file, read it with java and render it with OpenGL

... that sounds overly complicated but would I be right in thinking there's a lot less lag than RGSS's rendering?

o.o

That's awesome!
Although, the persona style message window doesn't fit, it's too blue. You should find a better pallette. Something more saturated

@Ynlraey: Beautifull use of a 'map background'. The window really doens't fits with the style of the game. Finding a better palette, and maybe adding some simple effects, like gradients, could make it better.

Well, everyone. I just restarted my Harvest Moon fan-game project, and got a new screen from the menu. Sorry for the lack of effects and details in the menu, but I'm trying to mantain the HM style, that is a ver simple design. Still doesn't have a project thread, and it is in portuguese, but here it goes :

@Ynlraey:
did you do this all by yourself? This looks really cool :blank:

@AzorMachine:
Sweet, very modern and colorful and i like the buttons on the bottom.

Sooo, i post this screen here again. xD

I played a bit around with the light and shadow effects in darker places. The tileset isn't complete yet, but i want to show you the first result.

@Ynlraey: Marian is a polish MALE name. :P Kinda funny for me. Anyway, this look pretty good.

@AzorMachine: Nice, very harverstmoonish. But you should post screen with farm, house or something else. You use GBA/DS Harvest Moon sprites with they original size? I'm asking about it, because those sprites was made for 16x16 px tile which is perfect for RPG Maker 2k/2k3, not XP.

Oh I almost forgot:

@Kiwinuptuo: Awesome work, but that character looks little weird without shadow. It's looks like he is floating, or something. :P

*fox5 appears again*

Was just passing through and thought I'd share some screens of the game of Sabriel I've been making. Any comments would be appreciated:

Not sure if I should darken the first two screens, they seem a bit light for the feel of the game :/

*and I disappear again*

Fox5, I absolutely love the screens! The first two are so pretty although like you have already stated, may be a bit too light for the dark atmosphere of the rest of the game. You may want to darken it, just a bit.

As for the third screen, it's definitely pretty! But one thing is bugging me, the windowskin. It is not really fitting the atmosphere and rather sticking out.

Don't worry, these screens are coming. And yes, I'm using all the resources, in the original size, in RMXP. "All" the default scripts were rewritten, and now the tiles are 16x16.

@Kiwinuptuo: Awesome man, you're screenshots are hot!
I just think you could leave the char lineart, a little more soft, for better integration with the map.

@fox5: The third screen, is very good, and I liked it. But the two others, are kinda bad. The gradient effect isn't good, and the resized image is ugly.

Now, a screen from a new tileset I'm making for another project.
Still, without effects.

@luv_kitty12: Thanks. I will be darkening it. As for the windowskin I'm not sure what you mean? I think it works fine?
@AzorMachine: Thanks as well. I like the atmosphere of the third screen too ;) I suppose you should know that the map scrolls away pretty quickly, so the blurriness doesn't stick out so much. It kinda needs to be there because it's the image in the front of the book this game is based from and as its the first thing you see in the book, I'd also like it to be the first thing you see in the game. I guess I could redraw it, but it would lose some of the essence.

I meant that it stands out, like, doesn't blend well the screenshots. It could be just my personal preference, though, but maybe you could remove the yellow outline around it to make it look better?

I'd say it's quite the opposite; the last screen should be made lighter. remember, you can depict darkness without actually making it impossible for the player to see anything.

+1

AzorMachine: Those trees *_* Damn, you made them? A-WE-SOME

@AzorMachine: Is that Inq's long grass tile in there? And flowers? They go really well with the other tiles. The mountains seem to resemble Inq's too, but with some sort of filter. It all works quite well together. Are the trees ripped?

Hmm, on my Sabriel screens, dunno what to do now. Who's opinion should I take? Is the last screen too dark or are the first two too light? :/
