Good point :3

Anyway, the station there is from a cutsceme. I'm not having many fogs in actual gameplay, but for cutscenes I want atmosphere. I'm trying a "cosmetic fog" - not the ugly kind but a more... idk, foggy kind. I just basically erased all the areas that the player will be seen in, to give the impression of a really heavy smog while still being able to see the cutscene.

Other than the RTP characters, it looks really good, Wyatt. The fog effect looks very neat and gives a good impression of heavy fog, though having such contrasting areas of black and white makes it look less natural.

I'm not really feeling up to updating my main post yet, so I'm going to throw this in here. Finishing up this part of the tileset, worked mostly on shadows\lighting\palette changes today.

Also playing around with a temporary window, which is likely to change.

Other than the trees having a bit of a wonky shape (the lower right bit especially) the tileset looks great although a few spots here and there could use some work.

That sprite on the other hand is horrendous. It bears little resemblance to the face picture and looks ugly. Doesn't look much like the tileset at all and stands out pretty badly.

Here's an inn/bar I recently made for my game:

Note that it's possible to walk under the first row of the ceiling (like in XP and 2k3), if you wonder why I've placed so many tiles in a way so it looks like they're under the ceiling. An issue I'm aware of is that it doesn't look like the characters are actually sitting on the chairs, it's a really hard thing to fix though.

You'd have to do some editing to fix that, with a little effort it wouldn't be too difficult. Or just put stools there instead.

The map's lighting looks good though the arrows are somewhat obnoxious and I don't see why anybody'd need them to find the stairs or the door.

Something I've been working on the last couple days. A small animated sequence. Everything is digitally painted, I need to clean up some things still. But I don't want to get hung up on perfection that I don't finish on time.
That looks a lot like Vegnagun from final fantasy 10-2

@JoRu: Best thing to do is edit the chair graphic and have the armrests on a higher layer than the rest, if that makes sense.

A few more edits.

also you should either give the white lines etc the same texture as the road, simple layers in photoshop etc. either that or slightly transparent.

the rtp tiles really poorly as well. wherever you got it, you have distinct patches of lighter and darker textures that repeat very apparently -- it's kind of a repeating dark patch in the shape of a crescent moon, or maybe pacman. I'd just zoom way in and try for a more even distribution of light and dark.

also how do you desaturate something that is pure grayscale

I must say, the game looks highly creative. It has that "dark cartoony" feel to it, and you have a good hold on making interesting characters through the trailers you showed. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if the game was mostly about interacting instead of having fights. You could totally pull it off.

Awesome Bro

Wow EMOPOPTART, that looks bloody amazing for an RM2k3 game, I've always been trying for a new style of gameplay, but never achieved it, I think what you have there, is incredibly unique, and it just goes to show the possibilities of the RM2k3 editor, which has no additional script features of the likes... I also love the art style, it's something I've never seen before in an RM* game...

I wish you good luck with this game and I really can't wait to see/hear more about it in the future !
