now personally I like screenshots they come in many great flavours and are an excellent food for at home or on the go how's about you

Look someone's making a game that's pretty cool. There are people standing on a cliff and doing stuff. The map is the usual RTP snow map, I've seen it too many times so I didn't really focus on that. I suppose tension is building between those people.

way to go straight to a vanilla screenshot-hype post and ignore the ones that showcase something unique to their games. that's the point I was making all along -- you can do better than vanilla, man

also yes I don't think this argument is going anywhere so let's just stop bitching at each other and pretending we don't understand.
 
Heheh, just one little problem: You weren't arguing whether or not my screenshot was "vanilla", but arguing that it didn't belong at all in context.

What the- those top lines up there weren't there when it was first posted. Sure, I'll mirror the "last one from me too" if that's what you're going with:
You were, however, arguing to the extent that it did not belong to the thread - relative vanilla (which is highly arguable, hence a large part of the back-and-forth) or not, it was not a part of the specifications. Frankly, this has pretty much about whether or not there was actual content in the screenshot in question; and somehow to both of our surprises, it appears to be subjective.

Impasse.

Looks pretty pleasant. The symmetry threw me off slightly at first, but there do exist many houses that are that symmetrical in real life. I think it'd be better if the ornaments weren't symmetrical as well though, like the flowers on the tables on either side of the doorway to kitchen.

this is probably vx itself, but it looks like the tables are standing too far from the walls. if you wanna go realistic they should be hiked up a few pixels so that it looks like it's right up against it, but vx is pretty crazy about this grid stuff so idk.
 
Heh, yeah. I should make tables that aren't autotiles. I did that for the carpet there by the floor, because it was the ONLY way that it'd look the way it did. To tell the truth, I didn't even notice how strangly the brown tables are from the wall. Thanks for the insight.

EDIT: Actually, I'm not gonna do anything about it. Least not anytime soon.
 
I don't like how the roof looks. sure more realistic with the rooms in the back but,, looks weird. imo. maybe try putting a different roof tile in the middle area parts of it between the outlines?

or maybe even use the tileb shadow tile on all the parts that arent directly room connected

That's a game I would like to play... and I usually don't want to play RPG Maker games. :wink:

You would be correct. Though to me, custom and original are pretty much interchangeable in terms of graphics, which is why I don't bother to differentiate.

I started this before I knew pretty much anything about scripts, so I tried to get a little creative with the standard battle system.

The game switches back and forth between overhead and sideview. Unfortunately I have no overhead maps finished.

Damn, this is great. The graphics are a beauty, really, but you surely know that by yourself :]
The characters are begging for more animation frames though. I loved the cutscene, when the monkey showed me a finger :D It was really funny. Good luck on the project.
 
you forget to shade the tails on thse p-p-p-p-pigs?!?

On a more serious note, I do like this. I really like how you use a play off of the pointer cursor... but I dislike that it's a fangame. You should really do something original.

Wait... is it original? I can't tell.

I'm really liking this style you've got going on here. I haven't seen anything like this on any rpg maker. How far along are you? Is this playable at all?

Well... Here's a map I've been working on for about two weeks now. >_< This is the fist town that Jian(main character) makes a delivery to. On his way there he gets mugged by some sasquatches and they steal his package. Crazy huh?

As you can see very little detail has been put into this yet... It's taken me awhile to get the water done. It's 16 frames of animation! >_< Isometric just takes SO much longer. :scruff:
