The Bridge rails are the wrong way. It should be the other bridge tile, not that one.
EDIT: Also, in the second screen, there apears to be a log floating above the lake.
EDIT 2: Actually, where does the lake come from in the first place, and how can there be enough water there for a waterfall?
Ok, yeah, I see what you mean about the bridge now.
The log was suppose to be partailly on and off land like it is now. That's just to add more realism.

I'd also lighten up on the fog, or get rid of it completely. Those are usually best in dense forests, where there are plenty of trees. There are very few on your map. The fog doesn't make sense unless there are giant trees above the player that we can't see and somehow don't connect to the ground.
Yeah, I'm getting rid of the whole thing(HUD) now. I've changed battle systems since then, so It's pointless for it to just be floating around. I'll fix up all the stuff you guys have been saying right now. thanks. :thumb:

Ok, so I fixed everything you guys were talking about(I think)
Here's the new overall map view. I fixed the beach to water part, I also widened the water at the top left cliff, because it didn't make since how so much water could come from such a small amount. The water flows under the grass too, for like a overgrowth kinda feel.
And In these, you'll see that I got rid of the fog where it's not dense enough for it, and replaced it with rain making it more realistic for the waterfalls and what not.

The mapa are looking better without the HUD, but still too cluttered. You'd also beniefit from a few more normal trees.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the bridge. I'll fix that, but there's no point in putting up a new screen just for that so I'm not gonna.
As far as the map being cluttered. I personally like all the vegitation, and flowers and stuff, so i'm gonna keep that. However, I am gonna get rid of the random barrels, vases, and the boat on the shore. It may look really cluttered, but it's actually quite smooth when playing. Most of the flowers, mushrooms, and what not are passible and with/or a brush flag, so flows quite nice. I do tend to put a lot in maps though, I agree, but I don't just throw random things in as you had said earlier. I put in what I think will fit or look good. In this case the barrels and vases served no signivicant purpose though. I just put them there for shits and giggles. lol
Ok so not done yet... It should look close to the small picture on the bottom left. I'm a little worried about the dirt running into the yellow flooring? does it look ok? How about the random stones? Does it look like the ground has some virus of sorts? :S

JD: maybe you should tune down the outline and get rid of the shadow... or at least make it transparent.
... and watch the perspective of the palms shadows... yours is kinda off
Bats!!... if you want critic of the sprite alone... its awsome, its got "you" written all over it(as in the spriting style you use :P)

It's fully animated, grass sways, streaks of wind curls past, a butterfly sometimes flaps across (I'll be adding more)
Also, each time you load the Title scene it selects a random weather effect and BGS for the title.

With this one a flash and boom of thunder happens sometimes
This is what is looks like without any of the animations
The title music that plays over this is "Das Wandern" by See-Saw, it's a slow piano and soft vocal piece.
You can see the game version number at the bottom of the title screen, that is actually seperate to the title and will be updated after the release of Part 1.
Also I move the Command window to top left, VX stuck it bam in the middle of where I wanted everything to go so I just moved it.
Just before the title loads the new team logo, designed by the other producer, fades in then out, it works nicely with the title screen. The name of the team and the logo is a secret along with the entire project! I'm just saying how cool my title is now.
(The big grey block around the right is a structure of some sort...hehe)
Concept was yours really, I was inspired by your 3D dreams field design a few pages back. (EDIT: Says something about me as a game designer, eh? :grin
Thanks for the constructive critisism btw, I know precisely what to change to improve it now.
EDIT: I DO have the XCF open so I can easily change it and I am willing to change it aswell, with dry words like "It's terrible" I have no idea what is terrible or how to improve it.
