@Kicks: Lovely coloring in your backgrounds. Inspirational even, I wasn't at first going to make background mapping tiles in my game but I might just have to change my mind.

I've already post this in my game thread, but some say that the characters are hard to see, I ask is it because of the blue gradiant around the black text or is it too pixel-ly? Or something entirely else?

@3rdstrike - Is it just me or do the vines and trees look highly saturated and blue?

Could you try hue mapping the blue a little more green and cut the saturation down about 10points. :thumb:

@ kicks- I'm gobsmacked!

@sakura - The thing that bugs me is the text. It's hardto read!http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l283/ultimaodin/Ashamed.gif[/img]

Kicks, they are amazing, what is your overall method to make those backgrounds?  Regarding your characters, I think the size is okay though their edges could be more defined.  Perhaps more of an outline.  Just something to try.

@Samut: That's sick! I love good lighting. Too bad I've no idea how to-etc.

Lazy as I was to continue story-scripting, I felt like tingling some more with the CBS.
As visible as it is, when the actor's command window is active, it's appropiate bigass sized portrait is active. When you select enemy/Perform the action, the picture is invisible. Blarr, eyecandy.

note that the picture overlays the entire screen, will fix
not all battlers have shadows, will fix.
facesets have changed.

XD Well thanks for the compliments..
It´s not exactly ´good lighting´..
It´s just half/transparent black, which gives you the impression of clouds.
Quickly done in photoshop..

Anyway, I like the huge character when selecting it.
And, you´re German right? (Vierzehn und Argwahn).
Furthermore, why don't you use the font in your names that's also used for the 'attack' picture..?
I know that's a picture.. But that's a pretty famous font..
I think I've got it somewhere..

Hey guys! Man, it's been a while since I've posted in here...

I'm just posting a little tileset I started up yesterday. I'm trying out an isometric sort of perspective, as well as a "black lines around everything" art style. I'm by no means a pixel artist, so naturally, it isn't perfect, and the details and whatnot aren't super spot on, but I'm actually pretty happy with how it's coming along. I'm just making it to pass time right now, and I'm having a lot of fun doing it. :P

Anyway, this screen is more or less a school classroom in some sort of forest/jungle type area. It isn't supposed to be a very technologically advanced civilization, hence the use of wood/bamboo/whatever for just about everything there. I also thought that riddling the room with vines and whatnot would be an interesting touch! I tried to give everything a natural look and color to it, so I'd like to see what everyone has to say about the color choices. Are they too saturated?

This would fall under the category of oblique, and not isometric D:

I don't understand the difference between oblique and isometric, it looks pretty isometric to me :P

but your slant is off, it's wider at the top more than the bottom, pull the right side out more and it'll looks alot better imo.

love the little prinny XD but the pillow shading or gradient your using on it makes it clash with the tileset.

other than that, I like it.

@monkeydlu
In geometry, an oblique angle is an angle that is not a multiple of 90 degrees.
In other words, not standard RPG angle, but not 45 degrees isometric either.
And as monkey said, that characterset clashes with the style of your tileset.
Other than that, it's fine.

I -had- the font. I just copied the buttons out of a discontinued project. I liked them so much =P . . .But after formatting my computer, I no longer have it, or know it's name. . .

I'm actually Indonesian/Chinese with some Dutch/German flavour from the Netherlands. Using German random words for RPG characters always looks good, imo. The Tales series uses it, and Soma Bringer DS as well =P

and sorry for misspelling your nickname O_O

edit:

Here's a menu shot. Those of you who are old-school enough to remember me might see I went for a very light design, in comparison with what I used to make. (Which was part of my fame, i suppose)

Sapeientia Capital, one of the first houses to be done on the inside (cept for the 2nd floor). Took me a bit to figure out how to map effeciently with the inq tileset but I think it worked out OK.

This is the outside of the house

This is the inside

(I already fixed the shadow that goes above the cabinet to the right to go behind it, or else the perspective is messed up.)

Hope you like it.

I like the colours of your your maps Lisker, nice and rich. Just thinking about the lighting though, wouldn't the far right room upstairs be more illuminated? Cos from the outside it seems there's a light on in that room. Maybe I'm just being picky :P Good job anyway.

Hahaha yeah, the darkness is actually an accidental screen, I made that this morning and I copied the event for the door from my other town where the inside was dark if there was no candle burning cuz it was in the middle of the forest. I changed it and this is what it looks like w/o:

They might get a lil bit darker but because the tileset is more saturated/darker then the RTP it goes really dark fast.

And as for the lighting I'm working on events for the lighting because the inside maps of like 4-5 buildings are combined because I predict using a load of maps just for my worldmap which is free roam. So that excludes the use of fogs as they move with the screen.
