The Screenshot Thread

I can hardly tell the lighting in the first one, to be honest. The others look a bit like sandstorms, but Joy has a good point there.  :smile:

This is a little old, but I was testing out the screen-capture script earlier and thought I might as well as post it. Note however, that due to the script, there are some errors with priority/placement of character events on the map. Errors such as the guy behind the hut on-top, cat-on-the-head, crate top, and bridge tile errors are due to that, since they were character events.

The horizon grass will probably seem awkward to some, but it's just a personal preference. :'>
[ Resources mostly from Mack and Ruruga. ]

[ **Screen-capture script by SephirothSpawn, edited by Brewmaster, can be found here (click). It's quite convenient, albeit the few character-event glitches here and there. ]

Reives, I used to find the horizon grass so odd. After playing through a few chapters of your game though, I found that I grew quite fond of it. It's kind of like how I used to feel about isometric windows games. That's a beautiful screenshot though, aside from the priority errors.

Okay, here's the deal: a desert is usually very clear and very bright. The ONLY times a desert is not one or the other is at NIGHT or in a SANDSTORM. A sandstorm, even a minor one, is painful, so you wouldn't have people contentedly fishing or walking about, they'd be running for cover. Ditch fog effects, make it bright as all get out and then it looks like a desert.
So tired of fogs used in deserts.

Damn, i know it's supposed to be a desert town but that's too bright/light imo.
That must be your monitor then.  I don't know, it looks fine to me, and I could see the dark maps with the bats clearly too, so I guess it's just preference.

Awesome map, Reives.  It's great to see so many little edits come together so nicely.

@Kira:
Cool style.  :smile: The fog in the first one seems a little awkward with the rest of the graphics though. I think it's because that looks flat while the tileset has a perspective.

@Jackey:
Heheh, I've been fixing them up a bit too. In the current demos, they are completely horizontally flat at the bottom, where as now (as in that screenshot) I made the bottom part to blend more gradually. :>

@~R~:
At first glance it didn't seem too bright, but after taking a look at the character there, the light seems rather hardcore. That or that char-set is heavily contrast-wise skewed. But you are on the right track there!

@SPN:
Thanks. :'>

Thanks :blush: The fog is only temporary, I'm trying to find or make something more suitable.

ok, increased the "gray" to reduce contrast, decerased the effect opacity and
darkened a bit:
