Really? o: I thought that's how nature supposedly is. Just my personal preference I guess; the flower/grass layers are walkable, so at least that doesn't cluster in a bump kind of way for those who have a more simple and tidy taste.

So did I, the weeds I had in my yard were seeded by the wind, quite haphazardily and quite cluttered as is the area nearby (I live near a slightly forested area) That and I was under the impression birds and other animals that pollenate or distribute seeds tend to just let them fall...wherever. I'm sure that their are some species that might be a little more neat, and might plant them in rows. But for the most part I thought that it wasn't that way.
Lovin' the map btw Revies ^^

I truly dislike Knight Blade's Tilesets, that's only my taste I guess.
The mapping is good, as always.

It seems those tilesets were done by you. Correct me if I'm wrong.
One thing I must say, is that if you're using Knight Blade's Characters' Sprites, you should stick with this style, mixing RTP Characters there would fuck everything up. You probably already know that.

However, I'm quite confused, this seems to have a futuristic setting.
You previously posted a screen from a forest, I don't remember which sprites you were using there, are the screens from the same project?

Also, that's quite personal, I really would like to re-play Abscense of Vagaries, I and II however, it seems the links are down, is there any other way I can download them?

Well, good work as always.
Keep it up.

Actually the screenshot of the forest was from Absence of Vagaries III. Sadly, the other two are pretty much lost since I deleted all my projects. AoV III might not kick off due to the fact that I don't have the other two anywhere on my hard drive and I can't locate the backup disks for them either.

These screenshots are from a project I thought about a while back. I did a GA assignment revolving around it, but at that time it was merely a thought, not even put into writing. I'm hoping to actually finish this project. I'll try to release a demo before March, because I leave for the military and will not be back around for about 2 months. I'll have the project stored away until I can return to it.

I only have one other active project aside from that one and it's RTP. It's an open ended RPG. I've always wanted to try to make one. I'm getting a lot of the data base stuff done, so I haven't had a chance to get any screenshots of it, but they wouldn't be all that amazing due to the fact it's RTP :P

If you mean the tileset that I did, do you mean that it wouldn't mesh well with the RTP sprites?

Because I really tried to make it mesh somewhat.
Here are some examples...

of course I rather like how J-street was able to make it more "darker" looking, since I tend to go for the
happier light scifi-fantasy feel ^^

Hmm.
I really wanted to re-play Abscense of Vagaries, I guess that won't happen then.
Now that you mentioned Abscense III I really would like to play that too, again, it won't be possible, damn! haha

Well, If I know you, I'm pretty sure you will finish this game, though, honestly, It does not caught my interest that much, but again, that's only my taste.

I presume you did quit Arias Lust then, you posted that someone had it and was willing to send it to you, have you quit on it?

No, I wasn't reffering to the Tilesets, what I meant is that KB's characters' sprites are different from RTP characters, using both styles in the same game, will fuck it up.
I hope I was clear this time, I'm sorry for the confusion.
Thanks.

@Reives

I would reccomend adding a few more trees in areas where the Canopy is not supported, so that it does not look like it is hovering. Otherwise, I have absolutely no complains. I especially love the dirt paths, weird as that seems =P

Dude, I have the first one.  Drop me a PM and I'll find a way to send it to you.

Also, love the new screenshots, though the last one just screams "I found a random picture and threw text on top of it."  I'd suggest going with a font that fits it better, or something.

Del:
I haven't quit AL. I have to do a lot of re-eventing, because I lost my cell phone which had my contact list of people who were doing voice overs, so there's been a lot of content that has been taken out. I'm also redrawing a lot of the full body sketches for it. That probably will also go back into play once I get stationed. There'll probably be a complete overhaul if my schedule gets freed up.

KP addressed most of this, but it's her tile set. Naturally, I think it does work with RTP, but I've toned it down a bit. If I do have to use RTP anything I'll tone it down too, and probably recolor using a better palette.

Actually, it's artwork done by this guy name Daniel (Some russian sounding last name). I came across his site ask if I could borrow them for non commercial purposes. I have post apocalyptic-esque fonts, but chose not to use them because I'd just get a bunch of "The font is too hard to read" bs. So, to avoid that I kept it simple with Times New. I hope it's not something that can't be looked passed. If it does look THAT bad feel free to point me to something a bit more fitting.

KP:
I came across your tile set and just had to put it in one of my games. It was a little too loud for KB characters, but I just did a little desaturation, darkened, and made the screen tone more gray, and I was happy with the results. You have a much better grasp of using the tileset than I do, but I planned on trying some unique mapping with it.

At first glance, it feels like there's too much going on. It's not very good on the eyes. I could barely spot the ramp, and if the dirt paths hadn't been there, I woudln't know which way to walk. Maybe if you add a bit more dirt paths, it might make things a little eye-friendly. Right now there's just too much "green" if that makes any sense.

And yes, as someone said, you should add some treetrunks to the bottom canopy so it doesn't look like it's "floating."

jstreet, try calibri font.

there are tons of fonts out there that are legible and look sexy.  times new is NOT the right choice for that picture, especially because it looks so great.  do it some justice and make it look better. :)

Ah, part of that might be because that in the image, the whole map is displayed at once, as opposed to the confined 20*15 window at a time. Naturally, it gives (more of) a everything-in-your-face feel that way. I can't really imagine myself why it would be to the point of hard to navigate in-game; but I've been known to have more of a clustered preference.

I will definitely do something about the canopy issue in the future though; if I could find some way to incorporate the solution into the autotile itself, it'd be the best thing to do. :> Thanks for the advices.

@Jstreet:
Disregarding the matter of whether the styles clash or not; I really like the char-set style. It feels like a cross between RTP and the style used in Sandfall.

I think some of those character sets came with Knight Blade Reives, as well as the main component of the tileset.  I think  some are original though in which case J has done well replicating the style!

I agree, I love the variety and placement of things...don't change it a bit!

@Jstreet
  I think the mission screen is a bit hard to read. Maybe stroke the outline of the text with white color and tone down the screen brightness a bit while the mission information is showing might help : )
  Also, I think you should go with the original font. It looks funky, which fits the style of your game in my opinion XD

@kiearaphoenix
  I don't know if you've noticed this or not, but the tree's shadow go beyond the platform :S It looks kinda strange, at least to me. Other than that I think the other screenshots look really nice  ^ ^
