You're right about the trees. They're suppose to simulated a depth perspective as if they were on a hill closer to the camera. Originally, it was going to be a picture, but I needed to edit the passibilities, so I threw it into a tileset.

Thanks for the compliment. I've seen your maps and I'd have to say I was impressed. Your game is on my list of play and review.

Yeah it certainly did that. It was the first thing I noticed.

Thanks ^^

I like the atmosphere in the map Cassy. Nice use of lighting

As for feeling skilled, I like the map, the only advice I have though is lower the height of the wall to a maximum of 3 and try and make the room a lil smaller. This will help the "huge"  feeling of the room. Unless it's supposed to be a HUGE room.

Other then that it seems perfectly fine by me, nice job!!

I'd agree that you need to decrease the size of the wall by one tile.

I like the simplistic look of it. For some reason it seems more realistic to me.

@Cowlol: that looks awesome, it looks like some old detective story hahaha. I love the atmosphere.

Here is the semi-final version of the Hud. I cut out the Level and status part since I felt it clashed with the rest of it. I still feel I should give the health and sp bar some spiffy edge or something but I was quite happy with this aswell.

I would like some C&C on this, my goal was to keep it simple.

Racheal, those hawks are so cute!

Give 'em a top hat, and a bow tie, and they'll be set.  ;D

@Lisker
Wonderful mapping as usual, Lisker. I think there would probably be less grass around that campfire, though. But that's not really what you wanted comments on, eh?

The HUD looks okay. Nothing special, but it's not offensive, nor is it particularly distracting. I think a small status effect display would be kind of nice, though... Like, just a small icon, or something like that. Looks good, though.

Don't mind me, a day in photoshop can make me snap.

Amazing artwork as usual.  I think it's coming to the point of people telling you that TOO much.  I'll say it again...amazing like always.  :)

The hawks are awesome!

I love that tileset as well. I can't wait to start my own maps in that one.

Well my game is coming along nicely and to show some of the idea's I was having I took all overworld map I have right now, and I put them together how they would look together as one big world map.

Remember you can go all 4 directions on most maps unless there is an ocean or something else blocking it. The maps that don't in this picture probably have not been finished by me. But being a one man team can be a bit hard on the mapping. Most of what you see here will be in the second tech demo which I'm releasing somewhere this week, or early next. Depending on how much time I have to work on it.

Enjoy:

Not putting the picture on the forums itself because it's wayyy to big and it would fuck up the forum layout

Small note: The bridge over the mine has been taken out, I see it was still in there.

Good to see people finally using my sets. :D Pretty nice maps as well. Make sure to plonk a few more bushes/trees and stuff down on the grass, AskaRay.

It's amazing what that tileset can do.  I swear no one can make a bad one using it.

I don't know about that, I've seen some really lousy screenies. ::)

I just finished some new tiles today, namely the gate behind the character sprite and the tent in front of the character sprite, as well as those weird pole things. It's supposed to be the tent of a village elder... Anyway, progress is slow, but steady, and I'm almost done mapping the village that most of the beginning of my game takes place in. Graphical work takes the most time out of anything in game design it seems like... as soon as I finish all the necessary graphics, then I can set to designing the gameplay parts though. I may have a demo in a month or two at this rate! Anyway:

EDIT: Whoops, I just realized one of the trees' shadows got cut off by the flowers surrounding it... I've fixed that already, in case anyone was going to point that out.
