I made another video, this time is is an actual in-game video rather than a test battle. This shows part of the desert chapter, where you obtain the daemonic artifact you've been after all this while.

I tried to record the actual game soundtrack but it didn't work. (There's a lot of key sound effects in it). Instead I had to resort to adding in the music in the video editor.

Ah well.

The falling rocks by the way that keep appearing, are traps. When you walk under them they hurt you.

It looks better now, but I think the colour of that autotile grass and the background grass don't match well. Just seems. . . somewhat out of place, with the vibrant background. If you want an alternate colour, I think adding a blue-ish tint instead of yellow might be more fitting. :> Is that battleground on-map, by the way?

It looks awesome, yet all the vids seem to lag like crazy. Is this because of the recording?


And I need some help on a small photoshop question. My game will have those interactive items in it. Meaning you can interact with almost any object. Now for books and other things I decided to do it the way shown in the screens.

Now for my question, is there a way to make it so the text is kinda like the pages. When you look at it it seems like the pages are bended but the letters are straight still. (Dunno how else to explain it rofl) So how can I make it so the letters seem to be actually on the paper!! *edit* I want the words to kinda curve with the paper. *edit*

Select the text portion -> Edit-> Transform -> Warp. Then just play around with it until it's lined parallel to the book. :>

Also, I think lowering the text's opacity just a tiny bit from 100% could make it seem more natural.

Yep. The game doesn't lag much itself, but the program I use to record it (Hypercam2) takes it down to 10 FPS. I'm sure there's some way of making it less laggy but I haven't found it yet.

Yeah, I'll try that. I'm not that good at photoshop, so that's why it's taking so long to decide a proper color for the autotile. Alternatively, I could even edit the default grass color to make it a little more greenish.

And that battleground isn't on the map, I just made a map, took a screenshot of it, did some cropping, and voila~

Anyway, does the battle system look good? I'm trying hard to make it look good. :P

@Skie: Heh, I managed to translate the battle system of VX to english. (Don't get me wrong, people, I haven't reversed engineered anything, I just changed the text in the 'System' tab to meet my approval. :P). Anyway, that screenshot looks pretty good, it's amazing that you even managed to map that out using VX, because I found the mapping system of VX pretty tough to use.

Offtopic: Can somebody tell me how to customize the E tileset of VX, I've made a new tileset, and now I have no idea of what to do with it.

Have you tried naming the new tileset TileE?
 
D:< omigosh, please tell me this isnt going to turn into an RMVX community site once its released? it seems like im the only one who cant stand the new RTP it uses...

so this was me just fooling around with lambchop's (amanda's) world map tileset.
i cant decide if im using a world map or not... it seems simpler when linking all the area maps... but i just dont know...

If you had been paying attention, then you'd already know that it's gonna be an XP, and VX community. Duh.

That map's okay, I guess. Nothing special, really.

So, I was messing around with VX(like everyone else.), and I came up with a short story, involving the main characters from my project, Issac, and Jessica. I thought it was pretty funny. Select screens in the spoiler.

They travel through the forest to try to find the perpetrator.

Who is this evil man? Will Issac, and Jessica defeat him? Will they return to normal? You'll have to find out for yourself in... Issac& Jessica's Adventures in VX Land!... Or not.
 
They look nice...though I am seriously hating the RTP...ugh! Imagine all those newbie projects!? GAAAAAH! I don't even wanna think about it....wtf was Enterbrain thinking!?
 
I'm okay with the style, but it seems to have a lot more kiddy/cartoony feel to it, like a pokemon game. But the difference between the RTP sprite style and the RTP face set style is just... ugh. D:

Yet another person hung-up on graphics? You'd think that a community full of RPG lovers wouldn't be so obsessed with how many polygons/pixels/whatever are in the models/sprites/whatever.

You know that you can import your own graphics, right?

Plus, there are tons of 'newbie projects' for XP. Wait, what do you mean 'newbie projects'? Do you mean projects by newbies to the program? If so, then... pfffffff.

'Sides, you don't need to get VX, if all you want is realistic RTP. You don't even have to look at other's screenshots of VX.

Have you seen how realistic the monster battlers look? You thought the sprites clash with the faces. XD

I prefer to think of the style, like the old Final Fantasy games.

It's really not that bad, once you get used to them.
 
Heheh, yeah, the style does resemble the classic old school RPGs a lot more than the XP RTP. Feels a lot more... game-like, if that makes sense.

Though I imagine to be even more difficult to keep a straight-face making serious dramatic scenes with those than with the XP RTP though, hahah. I just imagine a little hamster yelling "NOOOOOOOO!!!" in a high-pitched voice.
 
The style seems a little difficult to make your own sprites for, though...I mean normally I wouldn't care about graphics, but man...they are pretty short...infact they remind me of InvisableDrifter's hoju template and one of Mack's ones....everything seems so square too. I really can't be bovered downloading the trial...I guess I could give them a try....anyway...I really do like the battlers and faces. They're probably the only good things about RMVX.
