Welp everyone's entitled to their own opinion, y'know? I dunno' I beg to differ. I think it works for me. Oh well. =/

Very cute and unique style. The only thing that bothers me is the big hole. It looks pretty flat, as if it were painted on rather than being an actual hole. Perhaps you could add a little dark texture to the top side to show a little depth?

The squiggly orange tree things rock! :)

Y'know, I thought the same thing about i, I'm still messing with it, so I'll post more results of my experimentations with the depth and repost here.

Orange squiggly trees FTW! lol.
 
I agree with Lunarea, the hole needs more depth to it. And I'm not sure that the kind of blotchy textures of the ground, path and water match the sharp edged and shaded objects on top. I mean...I like the textures, but they seem out of place around the cell shaded objects.
I'll always love that little green plant. It's cute, though the orange one now rivals for the affection.

I haven't decided yet. Personally I think it'd be a good idea considering there'd be very little scrolling involved in the game anyway, but I'm not too sure if I'll be able to work a mouse control script into every other system (ZTBS) I'm working with.

it kinda seem to be missing back shadows i think cause it looks flat even with the main body shadowing... or might just be the big spike thingie ~_~

Very nice screen! Although I think there are too much spaces, but since you said it's incomplete so I take it that there'll be more stuffs on the screen :) Or maybe changing the font size might help too, I think.

I also think that you really should implement Mouse into your game. It'll work so much better and worth the effort :D

I think the outline is fine if you give some shadows to the object. But none of the objects cast shadows at all so it looks like something just paste up there and not actually on the ground :/

The main part of the CMS is done. The stats need to be a couple font sizes larger, and yeah, I repeated PDEF.

Looks great, though I would either take away the gradient from the HP/SP bars or put gradients in the other sections of the layout, right now the bars look out of place.

I like the second illustration, it would be cool if he had glasses on all the time (more nerdy XD).
 
J.D. Slasha: Aside from that hole i like the cavern a lot, and i also like the bushes and the look of the water.

Sabao: Very nice art man, i really like the faces of the characters, nice looking menu too.



Believe it or not i've been working on a game all this time i've been away, never stopped working on the town chipset and now it's almost complete, but i have a long ways to go though, i'm going for a modern type of rpg so i plan to make a road some street lamps etc.. for this town, then i move on to a city tileset, inner areas will be with Facil temp, outer areas will be with Tyke temp.

I changed the grass because the other grass did not go well with the rest of the map, please tell me what you think about this grass, i have also made different color sections but i forgot to add 'em here, the autoground is temporary.

I plan to make some standard poses too, sitting, sleeping, and ladder climbing.

I like it!

Sorry if that seems empty, but I really do. The lines are nice and clean and shiny. ^^;
 
Heres a map I made for my game it's the heros hometown.
WARNING: BIG IMAGES
In the first image there are red circles of parts of trees being cut off put I put events there so there fine.
I also fixed some cliffs in image 2.
