No, I intend to commission an artist to do them. Heh. I probably should have been thinking about the cost before I made the CTB bar, now I'll have to have one done for every type of monster. :p Too late now, though, I like it too much to get rid of it.

My drawings can make a cat laugh. ^_^ No one wants to see them in a game unless it's intentionally bad.

That's a CTB (Conditional Turn Battle) bar, like FFX, Xenosaga, or Phantom Brave. It tells you the turn order. Different actions may change the turn order - spells may make it come later, while defending can make it come sooner. It allows you to use some strategy in battle.

Battles are on maps, like Chrono Trigger. When you trigger a battle, the party members (up to three) will move to predetermined positions on the map. The CTB bar works as I already outlined. You can attack, defend (and restore HP), use a skill, or use an item for a turn, just like a standard RPG.

There is no escape once battle is initiated, but monsters won't regenerate unless you enter a town and leave and they're visible encounters, so you shouldn't have a problem staying alive.

The thing over the girl's head is a ring menu, it both indicates whose turn it is (if her picture on top isn't enough) and gives you the four main options.
 
Wow! looks awesome ccoa! Is it like a TBS? or a side-view? Very unique, but very cool.

PS: Any progress on my battle system. wink wink XD Only joking, take your time.

Hehe I was going to ask about the battle perspective and whether it was similar to Chrono Trigger, but then you edited your post :P

It sounds really good in my opinion. FFX and Chrono Trigger merged. I loved both.

I'm guessing it wont be realsed to the public? ;)

One more small question. When you are hovering over using a move, will the positions arrange themselves so you see the effect your action has on the turns?

No. For efficiency's sake, I am directly modifying the base scripts, so it will not be easily portable from game to game and will be directly entwined with all my other scripts. If people want the whole kit and kaboodle, I would consider releasing it after the game is out, though. Just not seperately.

Yes, but it doesn't animate nicely yet. It will, though!

@Reives - Bounce or pounce? Because about to pounce was the intended pose. ^_^

@RomanMelnik - Yes, yes, I'm working on yours. :p This one has been in development off and on for months. It's what I do when I can't stand spriting anymore.
 
Some screen shots of many works in progress for a short project called Shattered Frontier. While making my main project I realize I wasn't skilled enough with the program to make it as great as I wanted so I'm falling back and working on a smaller project first.

Still needs a lot of work . Don't worry I won't post any more screens until it's finished . It's more than slightly inspired by one of my favorite tilesets from the 2k era, Final fantasy 6, and Secret of mana 2.
