@Deebs - Yay! Someone putting my tileset addons to good use! ^_^ I agree with TCoFA about it being a bit empty, though. I'd make the map smaller and/or more interesting (bridges or a raft, maybe?).

Well, that'd be because the add-ons are extremely well made and I'd be crazy not to use them. </kissup>.

I'll consider adding more to it, though I'm not sure... It's just sort of a small area behind a waterfall that exists solely for cut scenes. I think part of the reason it's so empty as well is because I dislike putting lots of plants in places where the light isn't sufficient (such as in caves), but I *did* put the lillypads there, so... hm. I'm babbling now, anyway. I'll consider the suggestions.

But anyway, I'm glad you think at least that I'm putting them to 'good' (though sparse) use ;)

It's still fantasy. This is 2D, not 3D and it can look however you want it to. I think adding something like that draws me to it, not makes me think, "oh, the physics are all wrong on that, I'm not playing now." In 3D games it easier to simulate sunlight, but here, who cares, it's just an rmxp game that someone is creating.

I never said I wouldn't play it. But you can't excuse a flaw with "it's just fantasy." If I make the perspective on half my objects wrong, then I can't say "it's only a fantasy game!", I have to fix it or people will notice and they will criticize, and rightly so.

It's just as easy to make sunlight that's at a more correct angle than it is to make incorrect, so why not do it right?

@Deebs - I don't think you need more stuff. Perhaps make it a bit smaller, it's rather large for a cavern and it's much more difficult to make a large map atmospheric and interesting.

Let's agree to disagree. I like it you don't. If the creator likes it, cool. That's what he wanted.

Greenraven, I really like your screens. It is a nice fresh look at an RPG using RMXP. Very cool.

lordnick5000 : I don't see anything wrong with the first map, except maybe the weeds on the water. Try replacing them with lily pads. Otherwise, it looks like any other RTP map using that tileset. A bit boring.

I like the crowded look to the bar in the second image. Good to see a minimal amount of elbow room.

The stage makes no sense with the curtains in the back (what would they be hiding if they were used?). Either take out the curtains or change the map so there's an actual upstage and wings.

That said, you might want to change the curtains around the door so that they're in the doorway rather than framing it, since it wouldn't much make sense to put them there if they weren't going to be used for something.

I would have loved to leave no comment in the post and see how others reply to these horrible pieces of mapping, but, meh. :P The point of the screenshots is the way things measure. The charset is a man of about 1'82 centimeters. Now the question is if the walls and doors have a good height? I think the walls maybe like 5 pixels too high, but I don't know if I can fix that because then the autotile would have to go over onto the wall and I don't see how that would work. Is the wall disturbingly too high?

I'd say it's suprisingly real. If I compare the space between the seiling and the door of my room then it's pretty the same like in your screenshot. One and a half head would go between them.
So I'd say it's a perfect height.(But the windows are obviously to small...)
I think it would go along with the rtp furniture as well(like your post before the edit) because when I stand before my bookshelf which has 5 rows of books(tall ones, A4) then I'm a little taller like the template. The same with the drawers, who wouldn't reach to my hips, they are below. So imo this template is more realistic to go along with the rtp furniture than the rtp one itself.

I think the easiest way to do it would be to make the top part of the autotile actually contain part of the wall, that way, replacing part of the wall with autotile wouldn't shrink it the full 32 pixels (16? Can't remember). If you don't know what I mean, send me the autotile and the wall tiles and I'll do it for ya.

Thanks for the offer, but I've looked around some houses and I think it looks actually fine. I've increased door length by 1 pixel and it looks pretty perfect now. ^_^

You have a nice layout, but in my opinion it feels too open. Where you have placed furnature, you've placed more right next to it. So it just looks like clumps of furtnature every now and then.

Also i can't see why you'd have you bed right next to your front door, with the bedside table the otherside of it and your wardrobe in a completley differnt part of the house? Use your house as an example and then you will know where to place particular objects. I would advise revising this house.

All right, I'll get started on that. Thanks for the advice.

By the way, that door is actually supposed to be the back door. It doesn't really matter though, I deleted it. The front door is at the bottom, just under the rug, but to the left.
