The last film you saw

Went to watch Rogue One yesterday... if I had to describe it in one word; Epic.
The end was epic, but the first half was so boring. And everything was so serious, it didn't feel like a star wars movie.

I saw it in 3D, which was really distracting. I don't think it was meant to be in 3D. Too many close up and fast cutaways. Everything is out of focus and by the time your eyes adjust - it changes again. At some point my eyes got tired and I gave up trying to focus on anything, eyes half closed.

I did some reading, and I guess it was converted 3D from 2D.
But I appreciate it a little more knowing the work they put in to recreate the resembles of actors. https://www.comicbookmovie.com/sci-fi/s ... as-a147743
I had no idea about it's technical achievements. I honestly thought they just found look-a-likes or use prosthetics.

Alright, I've seen the new Ghost in the Shell movie, and it was better than I thought it would be - waaay better.

However; it was a really fucking dumb movie and a really shit Ghost in the Shell movie. It was definitely fucked up both nostrils by Hollywood's massive cock.

The dialogue, in particular, was absolutely crap. Everything that came out of the character's mouths was really badly written and was just a travesty. If the film was muted and re-dubbed - changing the story exposition along the way - then it would be better.

Opening scene, after the "Ghost in the Shell" title appears, they are like "Yo, Scarlet, yeah, we gave you a new body - but you could call it a SHELL, maybe? Dunno. But don't worry, love, it's still *you*, your soul is in there, like, you know - your GHOST is in there. YOUR FUCKING GHOST IS IN YOUR FUCKING SHELL SCARLET, THAT'S WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO TELL THE AUDIENCE YOU".

The over-explaining is just out of this world ridiculous. "SCARLET DON'T DEEP DIVE WITHOUT A RUBBER. It's dangerous! You could get your brain hacked because your entire mind is exposed to the hacker and they can upload viruses, download torrents, view weird bestiality porn shit or fucking make it so it's not you or whatever. Bear with me Scarlet, I know you know all this already because you're a trained professional and you've clearly done this before, but the fucking audience doesn't know shit - probably - and our screenwriters don't know how to convey the risk involved, actually why the fuck do we need to mention the risk? But whatever, the point is - audience pay attention - this shit is dangerous, we need to reaffirm that and also fuck you Scarlet".

And the way they handled Batou was really shitty. They didn't need to do it at all, it was like "Oh shit my eyes oh no what am I going to do - I hope the audience notices this happening" and then the next scene it was like "Scarlet, fuck you, check out my cool eyes, they're like your fucking stupid eyes - probably? I'm like this for the rest of the film now, Scarlet. We had to do it this way so the audience was able to build some kind of empathy for my human nature by displaying my humanistic eyes earlier. Don't ask me how my eyes got fucked up - I've already forgotten. Feed my fucking dogs, Scarlet. Feed them bitches. Fuck you forever, Scarlet".

Aramaki 100% shows what was wrong with the dialogue because he was all in Japanese - which they could have done well by hinting or explaining how this shit works, but they don't even fucking try. It was like "Yo chief, shit's gone down, Scarlet's all gloomy and we don't fucking know why, what should we do?" and Aramaki is like 「あなたはヤクザクラブで悪人を見つけなければなりません。うまくいけば、それは映画のための良い場面を作るだろう。ファックあなたスカーレット。」and then the team is like "Gotcha, chief. Totally understood that. Hopefully someone in the audience will assume some kind of auto-translation is happening in our brains, otherwise this dialogue would appear to be really fucking dumb".

They hardly fucking explain Section 9. Clever people in the audience might be able to figure it out, but it's like "Scarlet, we put your brain in your FUCKING SHELL, IT'S A SHELL SCARLET, FUCKING GHOST IN THE SHELL, SCARLET - yeah we put your brain in there so you can work for Section 9, guess they had really shitty luck with job applicants this year. We'll explain why Section 9 in particular later. Probably. Hopefully that part doesn't get cut." and then half way through the film it's like "Scarlet, listen to me right now. You're here to stop terrorists. That could be what Section 9 does, we'll let the audience make that connection because the scene where we explained it properly was cut earlier because too much fucking explaining is going on because our AUDIENCE IS SO DUMB. FUCKING AMERICANS, WHY ARE YOU SO DUMB? Scarlet your mission is to stop terrorists, links are in the video description below.".

Oh my god the brain comms explain as well. Scarlet was like "Batou you speak in my head now, right? Got that? Mental chit-chat, you hear? You get me? The shit we've just been trained to do recently because this is an origin story apparently?" and Batou was like "Oh fuck Scarlet, you know I'm really shit with thinking in my brain and all. I just need to get used to it, because the audience also needs to get used to this concept because it doesn't have lip movement involved - I know some subtle lip and jaw movement with some eye contact (my eyes are great at the moment, thanks for asking) would have been a good way to convey that I am talking to you through your brain without sound coming out of my mouth, but fuck you Scarlet you know mental chit chat is all new to me" *Oh shit never-mind I've got the hang of it immediately. Looks like all the training we had paid off, excellent! By the way, what does Section 9 do again?*.

And the computer talk-back was insanely dumb. Man; "Computer, I'm now taking control of this big fucking robot" Computer; "Affirmative. You are now taking control of the big robot. Manual control is activated. Take the wheel son. It is yours to control now. Please be aware that this makes operating the robot a very personal task." Man; "Fucking ace, I want this to appear personal because then the audience would see that maybe I've lost control in my desire for revenge or something. Who knows lol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯".

The ending exposition was massively Hollywood with Scarlet speaking over the top of footage - explaining DIRECTLY TO THE AUDIENCE - that she's finally figured out why everyone is telling her to go fuck herself all the time, and really that's what being human is all about in the end.

The technobabble was awful. It was going towards CSI quality technobabble. They could have done a much better job, but it was clearly done to avoid using complicated language that would confuse the audience.

There's more that I could complain about, but the script is all I'll mention because that was just so perfectly awful.

"Come on into my apartment. I have no idea who you are, you're probably here to mug me, but let me tell you about my personal life and start crying in-front of you after I serve you tea. By the way, what was your name? Oh? You're leaving? Please promise me you'll come back, whoever you are? Hopefully you're not going to rob me, or arrest me, or shoot me, or whatever. Fuck this has been a really awkward visit - I hope the audience is able to empathise with any of this shit."

I know I'm like a few years behind, but I finally watched John Wick.

It was really good and I loved the film. The nightclub scene was cool and so was that monologue Viggo gave to his son about John. Seeing that is chilling every time.

Awesome Bro

I saw Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on May 1st... not really sure how I feel about it, think I hyped it up way too much in my head, and based on the trailers... it was still good, but I don't know how I'd rate it compared to the first, since I feel like it went in a different direction in terms of story and pacing. Also the ending sucked.

(How the hell did a thread like this die? Movies are lame now?)

The last movie I saw was Resident Evil: the final chapter. Most certainly I saw it for free, but that's besides the point. Meh, I'm sad someone died filming such a movie. Wasn't great. Not really much to say.

I also saw Resident Evil: Vendetta. A CGI film. Fun and I loved the action scenes. Plenty of WTF moments. Try not to use too much logic and you'll love it.

Exploding bike on an osprey = No damage to osprey.
Portable railgun = takes down a skyscraper. LOL.
Can kill main character by throwing him off the building = Throws him to safety instead.
Sees large glowing red area on the bad guy = Doesn't shoot it immediately.

Ha ha ha, still it was a great movie. Waiting for part 2.

Movie options are kind of limited here in Egypt. Egypt really censors our Netflix selection, but I run a proxy (open only to myself) from my US-based web server, so I still have full access to American Netflix's Faith & Spirituality, Gay & Lesbian, Steamy Romance, and other categories that Netflix can't show here. (Not that I watch all of those categories, or have anything against those who do. Just saying I could watch them.) And anime too. What's up with Netflix not showing anime in Egypt?

Recent movies mentioned here: Moana and Rogue One. I really liked both. Also recently saw The Arrival on a bootleg DVD. I really liked that too. It wasn't what I expected.

I loved the first two Aliens movies. I would like to see Covenant, but I'll have to wait and see what my options are.

I saw the original 1960's version of the Nutty Professor. He wasn't fat like Eddie Murphy's version, just an ugly duckling. The Simpson's background character Professor Frink must have been based on the original Jerry Lewis performance. He does that same kind of nasally voice and babbling.

I re-watched Starwars episode 4 for the 46th time. I stared at the backgrounds this time. I've noticed so much; the 'outrider ' from shadows of the empire, many imperial shuttles, a random black guy, lots of women, and droids. That was just the 1st planet.

Just saw the Assassins Creed movie which came out in 2016, which I had no idea existed. It was pretty good.
The first half hour I was in disbelief.
At first I was like, "No way! It can't be the same as the game"
but then it opens with 1400's Spain, talking about the Apple of Eden. "Oh my god, it is! Awesome! Wait. Is the whole movie going to be in spanish?"
And then it jumps to 1990 with a kid on a bike. And then I'm like. "Aww, I knew it was too good to be true. Is the rest of the movie going to follow this kid?"
And then it jumps forward another 30 years to him getting lethal injections. So then I was like, "Phew, ok, this is better. So his life, and ancestor memory, will flash before his eyes or something? The closest they can get to a futuristic ANIMA, I guess. Alright. "
But then they revive him and they do have an ANIMA. And I was pleasantly surprised at how closely it actually followed the spirit of games.
Although they kept talking about the Apple as a Genetic Map, they don't really mention what it does or what kind of alien or advanced civilization it came from.

It did everything else so well though. But, if I hadn't played the games I don't think I would have understood anything that was happening.

I had no idea what you were talking about. I had to Google Outrider and Shadows of the Empire. And then I realized you were watching that unholy mess called the
, which is most definitely not Star Wars. George Lucas and Lucasfilm's official canon be damned. Star Wars was my childhood and in Star Wars, Han shoots first, dammit.

I had no idea there was an Assassin's Creed movie. I'm going to have to watch it.

I've only played the first couple hours of the first game. Then I played the pirate Assassin's Creed for a long time, until I had all the Jackdaw upgrades, and I had defeated all the special ships. But I never finished the game. I picked up the the French Assassin's Creed when it was free, but I haven't played it yet. I guess I need to finish one of them to figure out what exactly the big mystery is.

It's a really bad previous decade for movies. Almost no excitement from me.

Terminator = Dead (Woke Fate ruins and undo the perfect T2. SJW's)

Star Wars = Dead. (Disney and dumbass fans going along with dumbass questionable decisions. Also SJW's...)

Star Trek = Dead ( Kelvin time line BS, and JJ Abrams)

Alien and predator = Dead ( Disney plans on doing nothing with them. )

On topic: I managed to see Sonic the Hedgehog right before the virus Sars-CoV2. Sonic was an okay movie. I got exactly what I expected. Dr. Ivo Robotnik is I why wanted to see the movie. All about him, Sonic was secondary. :)

I just saw Beyond Skyline. Awesome movie. The 1st Skyline movie sucked, but part 2 kicked ass. Wow, a little bit of everything. Lots of action, and one battle felt like I was watching Power Rangers. I highly recommend Beyond Skyline to anyone who likes action. The ending was a space battle cliffhanger.

Skyline 3 is coming soon!

Just watched Stephen King's Doctor Sleep. It's a sequel to The Shining.
It was an exciting movie. Came out in 2019, but I had never heard of it.

It's not exactly scary. They did a lot of flashbacks/callbacks to the previous movie. Maybe too many. But I guess I can't blame them, when they went so far to recreate the set locations.
