Well I post at Creation Asylum , RPGrevolution and RMXPUniverse and while some of them (not saying which) have a few problems with .org most really just don't care.

Those are the little RMXP.org knockoff communities that don't really matter an are definitely not the parts of the greater rprgmaker that we are talking about. I'd suggest we drop the mater! Talking about other communities in TOPICS COMPLETELY UNRELATED TO THEM is a surefire way to start some unneeded rivalries!

Way to go, members of RMXP.org. You're just proving my point that this place is an embarassment. So stop.

As far as this place being an embarrassment, well, the mods (Not all, some are very respectable people.) need to go about trying to earn respect rather than demanding it. They need to be nicer, and less rude. You can be firm and polite, not back down, but not be a jerk about it. Also, in my opinion, this topic is an embarrassment. I guess some people just can't write a whole sentence without cussing it up. Remember, there ARE some younger people in your boards, and please respect them. I would suggest (Not being gestapo about it or anything) but at least on the titles clean up your language. Seriously folks, if you want a good community, lead by example.

I'd rather not be part of a community that doesn't allow swearing. Or, one that even discourages it. If you can't handle curse words, well, then, just ignore them. It's not like we're picking out the youngest members here, and shouting obscenities in their faces. 'Sides, no one looks at the announcements, anyway.

Oh, and how could "Shitposting" offend you, but not this: :fap: ?

This place is like a PG movie in my eyes. You can curse, but keep it brief/infrequent, and lay off the racial slurs. No porn, but insinuations are fine.

Who else wants to embarrass Des with further hijacking? Show of hands. (JUST KIDDING, STOP PLZ)  :thumb:

if they're on the internet, they've seen it all before and will see it many times in the future. we are not here to babysit. we will not dumb things down just so kids can post with impunity. if their parents see the word SHITPOSTING and ground them, oh well!

welcome all support members!

Well, I had a legitimate question pertaining to the topic:
Oh, and I was under the impression that Samboy was in Support as well. He has a little star under his avatar, which was the Support bar placeholder. What's up with that?

Samboy isn't a support member. The star isn't under his avatar, it's a part of his avatar. He's screwing with your head and you were stupid enough to fall for it.

From what I see, he edited it into his actual avatar, much like whoever's "more than just a" bar.

EDIT: Drat, beaten to the punch.

Congratulations, new dudes in the new group! From what I've seen, you guys've deserved something like this for a while now. :thumb:

Well, I thought I remembered someone saying that he was, but I now that I think back on it, I think it was someone that wouldn't know either way. Alright, then.

Grats support team members on your new badge & unpaid job.

With the recent release of some basketball game and it being posted on a bunch of industry boards with various comments about the hosting community site, I used this place to defend that not all rpg maker communities are "pirate whorehouses". It's nice having somewhere more professionally-handled to point to, even if people in the other communities don't like it much for whatever the reasons.

Take a look at the projects forum, it's full of RMXP projects. The scripts board has the largest english collection of them around. Resources, I dunno, but it's still pretty packed with posts. Everywhere else (especially the rpgmaker community as a whole) has a kid-sized amount of this stuff & less helpful people (welcome + grats on badge thingies). As far as RMXP goes, this place is -KING-. If that's not something you can't be ashamed of helping run, there's something wrong with you. :)

Other than the forums games of course, that place is :microwave:

And of the people complaining about here, I saw a few while checking VX sites. They were by some idiot who made a post here saying "I have VX cracked! Anyone who wants it PM me" (paraphrased of course & he said the same thing in his complaining post) that was locked and someone else who didn't get their script request filled after a couple bumps. I'm quite happy they aren't in this community if that's the type they are. :)

Many interesting points have been raised here, which is ironic given that I don't think any of these points Treg has outlined are especially surprising...a lot of it's common sense..or what you would hope would be common sense.

Wyatt mentioned something about searching. I've noticed that it doesn't list results in chronological order immediately...however if you click on the words "date posted" at the top of that column, the search results will be rearranged accordingly, with the most recent first.

Regarding the issues with other sites, I agree that this place has had some issues in the past (I too thought that there was an overreaching, vaguely creepy attitude about piracy), let's not give the other sites too much credit. If we're using Gaming World as the model for civility, that's setting the bar pretty fucking low. Let's try to improve the dialogue here simply because it will make for a better community, not to impress anyone else.

I'm all for what Volrath just said. We have something unique here, something special. If your ashamed to say your a part of it then, there is something wrong with you. That's like saying your not gonna eat apple pie because the apples aren't organic. We should be proud of what we have. It's not perfect, but neither are we. Why should we expect perfection from others when we don't expect it from ourselves?

Um, there's lots of things that I love about the forum. We've got an amazing amount of resources and talent here. It's the behavior of a certain group of members (in particular the forum games crowd and the members who join just to ask for people's help in their naruto fangame) that really stands out and makes this place look like idiots.

This forum has amazing potential to be even better than it already it. It's a wonderful forum that I am, for the most part, very proud to be a part of. There are select aspects, though, that it's up to the members to improve on. TREG, Teloch, Cero, the moderating team and myself have all worked very hard to make this forum the best that I can be. It's up to you guys to take it the rest of the way.
