RPG Breeze (Cancelled)

everything is looking great! I just thought I would post here to let you know that I'm still lurking in the shadows, watching and waiting. I am really looking forward to this program! Good luck and can't wait for the final countdown!

My many thanks for your hard effort, guys. Also, who's doing the music part of the RTP?

Can't wait for the countdown! ^^

EDIT: Also, your first post still has no info in the spoilers.

There's a game content company [unnamed due to our agreement] handling development of the RTP, including music.. That said, check your PM's for additional comments on this that are not yet announcement-ready.

And about the first post: it will be updated when I have something official to put in it.
Thanks for the note, anyhow.

ok, fine then nice to hear that your highly ambious and capable of doing this. Like to help you, but my skills lack a lot, 3 years too early as I'm starting my studies in a few month, but I was looking forward to do this my whole life, so I'm looking forward to it and your nice development tool ;)

Hey Theory, here's an idea I was throwing around today. What if you could insert a picture inside your map as a temporary overlay that discards when you finish the map? That way, I can take my images of whatever map I wanted and draw over that template to make a more organic map (read: less square and blocky)?

I say that because I d/l'ed a fractal map maker, and I'd love to use them as templates for my overland maps. I have no idea how hard that would be, but it would DEFINITELY come in handy! Think of it as a replacement for the dungeon generator in VX =P

lol it's no replacement. I was already working on a lightmap solution.

Technically, you can already do this using a parralax/panorama. As far as a map-specific layer, it probably won't be labeled as such, but the functionality will be there.

I second this - the whole thing. I'm still here (though not checking as often as I used to). I'm still looking forward to this! I like how you're answering questions more often. Keep it up!

Edit: You might want to update your first post... It says this is scheduled for release on March 1st 2009, and the features haven't been updated in ages...

OK Theory, I wanna address the "design for pay" bit, the marketplace thingamajig...

so say I design a whole new tileset, and I post it to the website. How do I get paid? is it thru Paypal, or do I register some kinds of bank account, or do you guys mail me a check? Just curious because I have a lot of ideas I'd like to implement, and the money would really help =)

To start, it will utilize PayPal exclusively. As time goes on, we will consider other options such as a Payoneer account, etc. It will use an internal credits system, which may be "cashed out" or used to purchase other content.

LOL!!!

Theory's avatar icon is calling me a lazy bastard! hahaha lol our IT department would LOVE that...

:haha: roflamo

The reason is that your browser doesn't support animated .png files. In other words, you need to update it.

well seeing as I'm at work I can't really help that...I just thought it was funny, 'sall...

First post has been updated. And yes, the name has officially changed. I reserve the right to change the mascot before release. But it will have to do for now ;)

More updates soon.

Whoa! Major Update! I've been waiting for this update for a long time. (Now it's just waiting for the project to be released! ) This looks way cool. I read through all the technicalities and such on the front page and this looks way better than any of the RPG Makers hands down (not that I expected less).

Anyways, I had a thought. I was messing around in RPGXP the other day and I was trying to create an NPC that would wander aimlessly about but it would stay within a certain spot on the map. I was attempting to combine that with a path-finding script and a day/night system to create a really life-like town. However, as far as I could figure out, I couldn't find a way to restrict the movement on an NPC to just a certain area (just something like a 7x7 square). They had something like this in Roller Coaster Tycoon where you could select where your workers could walk. So basically, would it be possible to create a system where you could just select the tiles where you want an NPC to walk? So if you had something like:
XXXXXXX
XXOOOXX
XXOOOXX
XXOOOXX
XXXXXXX
then the character would wander on any of the O tiles that you selected. Possible? (I would also ask to have a path finding script built in to all events as like another move command [walk to (X,Y)] but one thing at a time.)

Non-rectangular resolutions? How would that work? Like a circle radius or something?
Or do you just mean not trapped inside 4:3 or something?

Also, typo on the first line of 'Editor Features' (design, instead of designed)

Anyway, these plans are looking great!

OK theory, check your PMs for one from me!

I'm stoked about this new change...does it also do 3D?

As of now, we have no plans for 3D. Although the program can technically support it, it requires a serious rewrite, and must not be taken lightly. The real issue is that it is very difficult to make a game that is a combination of both 2D and 3D, unless you use the kinds of shortcuts that Nintendo made in Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, and probably Heart Gold and Soul Silver as well.

EWWWW! Pokemon?? blechh

I have never soiled or stained my eyes with that garbage, sorry.

Ok, I was just wondering, hadn't heard yet so...

Ruby-based scripting system? Wasn't it supposed to be BASIC-based? That would bring scripting back down into the world of us non-script-savvy people. Is it possible to still have a script based in BASIC?
