Quintessence: The Blighted Venom

Quintessence - The Blighted Venom

I like the chapter but like every other chapter this one keeps you waiting for more and more again...
lol, very nice game though and i keep playing the intro of the game with those elements cause you wanna know how they get to that point and so on.
I still wanna know more about naira.  she's so awesome and reivier is kind of a dork... except for when he actually gets pissed off.

one thing about this game that makes it different, unique, and great is really the story.  i love how it's "Not" the everyday rpg where you have to go out... kill some monsters, level up, buy some equipment, kill some more monsters... dadada
the reason i love this game is BECAUSE of all the cutscenes and story developement.  no mindless grinding!

Thanks guys!

@Bflare:
About the intro part; Eshe is first seen in Chapter VI, in case you haven't noticed. Things will start connecting in the next few chapters - But probably not much in VII.

And amen @ Reivier being a dork. :p In a way, Lunair is actually the main character; even more so in the next few chapters to come when certain things start happening.

@Wages:
Thanks for giving it a try. :> Starting from the end of Chapter 3, each chapter gets better than the last. If you have the patience to make it past 2 and manage to kick some snake butts in 3, then ya should be all set.

Here's a midi music box version of "Drift", the ending theme, which has its own simplistic charms from the real full version. However, playing it in the firefox/quicktime built-in player causes an extreme amount of lengthened echo, which ruins it - so download it and play it in WMP or something. :>

Are you serious? Where was Eshe? I didn't see her...

And about those arrows you use in your game... Where did you get them? Did you make them yourself? I hope you don't mind if I borrow the idea :)
Edit: And one final thing. Is this game just going to end up being a continous loop with Reives going back in time with Dasha's help and messing it up? Because that would be a horrible way to end it :/

Eshe was seen in the Kardian/Vikon/Salory scene in Chapter VI.
But not the way she is at the intro.

The arrows are minor edits of arorw character from the japanese strawberry(??) resource site in the RTP resources sticky thread. Go ahead and use the idea, I don't own it. :)

And as for that horrid, horrid ending; fear not, I won't sink that low. (No offense to its usage in a certain short game on this forum, as that it is a nice touch for short games but not long ones.) Edit: And as you saw, while Reivier for the most part seem to have "forgotten" everything, his past experiences are not completely ceased to exist, as he still felt something at the beginning of Chapter I - hence everything is not exactly the same as it was "before".

That aspect of the story has not received too much focus yet, however.

Awesome Bro

I just finished chapter 6! I love it! I really love this game and can't wait for the next chapter! btw, can you tell me where you got your glare graphic? I need one badly for my game! Thanks :P

stupid title things...Also, if you want to know, I noticed the following bugs, super minor details. The bats in the caves under the city remain, but they don't move, as if the page to switch to was never made. thats all I could really find, I guess for right now

I support this game 100%...

question-

why can't Reivier change what happened to him? did the sister not send him back far enough? wasn't that the point of her rescuing him after 'Naria died because of the poison and that elemental lady killing her?

just wonder :!

=D

The Christmas To Realize is superb Reives, I expected more jollier- maybe even trumpet-y tune, but the way you used the chords at different timings to create the severe and wanted attitude of the piece really dramafied (word?) the piece, and built it up into becomng a very worthy title of the Quin OST. Thanks! (Y)

I started playing this a little while back, and so far I love it, even though I'm only on chapter 3... The music is superb, and the cinematography is awesome as well. I can't wait to get to chapter 6.

The way you executed the title screen is a huge inspiration actually too. It gave me loads of ideas on how to do mine, with the music in synchronization with the background, and the moving text. I really can't believe I somehow managed to skip over this project, since it's been here so long.

And the "Got Milk" touch with the cows was awesome, haha. Brilliant. :)

Heheh, thanks, and thanks for the heads up on the glitches!

@Injury:
That'd because in the beginning of Chapter I, it was shown that Reivier was not able to completely keep his "past" experiences with him when he restarted, and hence everything so far seems to be going the same way as it did before, as he is repeating the same "mistakes". However, he did feel that he has forgotten something there, so it implies that everything's not exactly the same.
And I'll PM ya with the glare in a bit.

@Bradley:
Heheh, I kind of slacked off there. :p Just used a music box with that tingly thing soundfont and played it on my keyboard, and recorded. But the spirit is there! I'm thinking of making some more serious version of To Realize. So far, all the To Realize songs are way outdated, and I believe I can do a lot better if I were to actually compose something now (as opposed to recording some stuff on the keyboard as a fill in. :p )

@Arcanum:

Thanks, and glad it helped ya with some ideas for your title screen. :) Hope ya can get past the chapter 3 battles that some find difficult, as the better chapters are after that.
I added the Got Milk thing just this Chapter 6 release. :p Inspired by Venetia's cows.

P.S. So that means you are playing the Chap 6 package - When you get to the end of it, please let me know! I just want to make sure that everything runs from beginning to end in that package (I tested it, but just want a double check). Thanks in advance.

@Lucid realm:
Tell me which song(s) you want it for, and maybe in which key, and I'll clean one up for ya. :) The .MUS file for the tracks at the moment are rather messy.

So far, everything's gone without a hitch, though I haven't been rigorously looking for bugs like I might if I were beta testing. I've found one or two passability errors, but I can't remember where they were, and they don't make an obvious difference to the game either, so that seems okay... and the battles so far weren't that bad at all. I feel like there could maybe be a little more impetus for exploration during that part though, because I pretty much just got the wooden plank, and then went south...

I'll tell you when I get to the end though.

P.S. Some of the tracks, like the battle theme and some others sound like they were recorded by a real ensemble... were they?

the opening song (to remember?), the ending song and "promise". those are my favourite songs! :D
and for the keys, either C, F, G or A... sorry but I'm not that advanced  ^-^

A lovely game, but I'm stuck.

It's in Chapter 5, and Lunair's sent Reivier off to explore the city by himself. Apparently they're supposed to be meeting again at sunset at the city gates, but sunset just won't come. I've scoured the Central for any way in (which I haven't found), and I've gone through pretty much every inch of the city without success. What do I have to do to advance the story?

@Arcanum:
Okay, thanks. None of the tracks are actually live recordings, but two sound libraries were used for them; Finale 2006's default and GPO soundfont. The more realistic ones are done with GPO. :>

@Lucid:
Alright, I'll export some sheet music for them in the near future.

@English Ninja:
You have to complete 3 things in order to move the story forward from that part:
1. Finish the mini-quest that starts in a house located in the north part of South District.
2. Visit the Central. (East of starting point in Royal Distr.)
3. Visit Alden's memorial. (Northeast of starting point in Royal Distr.)

That reminds me, I should really make that more obvious. Several people have been stuck there now. D: My apologies.
