Starting fiddling about the town demo. Seems you had a lot of fun making that place. I must say, I positively STINK at soccer. XD

Maybe it's just me, but something about this seems wrong...

I have yet to find the music box in the middle district...But I do enjoy running about town listening to 'to realize.'
 
Hahah, I forgot I even put Vikon Action Figures there! And it almost looks like she's trying to "put out the fire" in that second screen. . . ._o

Someone from the Middle District bought the music box, so it's not from an object. :> But just a hint; it will ultimately involve soccer. :< A little tip on that though; just move up and down when it starts, going forward only lessens the time to react. :)

I've been getting actual story progressions done in Chapter V now. I think I've gotten a bit better at scene directing than when I started; though that can't really be shown by screenshots. I also carved out all the windows so that there's a pseudo movement effect with the sky outside, which in my opinion improved interior cutscenes' visuals.

Looked more like she was jumping into the fire to me. (of course, after she safely placed the 99 Vikon action figures on the floor away from the flames.)

I was amused greatly by the fact that the action figures were there. I saw them, gasped, and maxed them out in my inventory immediately.

Speaking of which, I should probably actually do something with those action figures in the near future. o:

I used to just wanted to do a "pull string and talk" function, but right now I kind of wanna make an "action figure platform" or something where you can do mini games of action-figure fighting. :D E.g. Mini Pokemon styled fighting system; Vikon vs. Salory or whatnot, with ridiculous abilities. It might make up a bit for the lack of game-play. And you can collect different action figures to use them on it. How does that idea sound?

I might do that action figure mini game then... but not sure when, since it'll probably be time consuming. :>

I took in a very valid criticism I received a while ago about the unreadability of the title selections. I looked into it today and changed some things about the title page, as you can see in the following screenshots for it.

And also, somethings you can't see from those screenshots; it is also more animated. I'll probably upload a tiny video to show what it's like in the near future. :> Anyhow, for now:

P.S. I have also taken Artbane's suggestion to have the map title page to make a direct transition of the starting scene to take place on that map.

wow, love this game!
Despite the fact that i stopped playing in chap 3 because i realy hate the combat system, the story is so great man!
The atmosphere, the characters, i love them.
one can also guess that there will be very interesting characterchanges and conflicts in future chapters.
you could be selling this for real money if you get in a better combat system.

Thanks. Though I'm not really going to change the battle system, sorry. :/ I've been getting mixed opinions on it. However, I will make the battles relatively easy to skip in the future.

By the way, what do you not like about it? The break away from standard turn based framework? Too difficult?

P.S. It does make me squishy inside that you aren't continuing though. :< Chapter 4 is my favourite. The battles in the demo only exist on that one single map (and the caves there), pretty much.

i will continue right away :)

the battles are, in my opinion, to .... (i'm no native english speaker, so i gotta search for the right words) .... hasty, speedy and hectic.
i love very strategic and tactical systems like ff10, which is my favorite one.
i dont think the battles are very difficult once i will have some sort of strategy i can repeat over and over.

but thats just my oppinion, i must admid that im a very hardcore fan of battle systems where everything stops, and you can think for an hour for your next move ;)

right this moment a fancy idea strikes my mind:
perhaps you could do some kind of skill or replace the sprint-thing with some kind of "reflex"-thing like in max payne, where the whole battle (or just the opponements) run several times slower f?r some seconds. that would cut out the imense pace, which is again strenthend by the sprint-thing.

soo, enough said, gotta go play chap 3 :)

Heheh, I understand what you mean. It is a high contrast to the usual strategy/turn-based battle systems, and can be overwhelming for those used to it.

You know what inspired me to make it? Back then I was playing a hunter in World of Warcraft, hahah. Hence all the kiting and trap reference. :p

And oh! That sprint suggestion thing is a really good suggestion, actually. In fact, I've been thinking of a similar idea to it...

Since Quintessence forces your sense/reflex to function at a degree of positive abnormality, I figured there should be a skill where it suddenly stops everything on screen (or as you suggested, slow everything down). That would symbolize the relative reflex and have a time out for player to consider their next move. I should've implemented that a long time ago, heh.

Anyhow, sorry for the inconvenience. And glad you're playing again. :) I'll try to add the above function next release.

P.S. Save often none the less. :p There is one single boss fight in Chapter IV.
 
Hey Reives, hows it going?

I just watched the new title screen, and I agree, the old one was a bit hard to see, but the new one is just lovely, and I especially like how all the bits and bobs kinda flew in. Nice one! :thumb:

As for the city demo, I loved that also. ^_^
I think it is a model city for other rpg makers on this forum, because you can actually see where everyone lives. I don't think many people show this in their game, let alone do it well like you! With all the bunched houses and the division of districts, you can see how much thought and effort has gone into this. ;) Makes me jealous...
The tileset is also fab.

Now for the third and final note: Drift. It is amazing. Definitely rivals my other favourite "To Realize", but I don't think it beats it, as I am constantly humming "To Realize". Anyway, all else aside, I can't wait to play chapter IV.

:D I just played this game today! I love it! *sniffs*
I just started Chapter 3, but I already enjoy this game so much, so I wanted to let you know! The music is fantastic! It actually makes me want to do my music theory homework, which I should be doing right now! :X Hehe.

The plot and the characters are incredible. I feel really connected to the story. I also think the dialogue is real and genuine! So many games have wooden dialogue, so to see such lively and creative writing made me happy!

Once I finish that said homework, I shall finish playing!

Aeria City was my first large scaled city map job, and it was such a pain. ._. Tried me hardest to make everything seem lively and organized at the same time. I had to assign each npc to a house as if playing with dolls, hahah. And glad you liked Drift. :> I've been wanting to make that ending music vid for a long time.

By the way, the waiting for Chapter IV part was a typo right? Because IV is already out. o:

Yes... t'was a typo. Paranoia is very good too. Not as great as the brilliant To Realize, but I really appreciate the random feel it had to it. And the bells. Clang Clang. Nice job of that! :D Now, the userbar...
