PS3 vs Xbox 360

There's a very simple answer to this question:

There is no "best" console.

Without games, consoles are just very expensive doorstops. It's up to the game developers to take advantage of the systems specs, media, and innovative features. Thus, there will be great games. Yeah, some of them will be console exclusive. Some of them won't. But right now, there isn't enough of anything to point at a console and say "that one has the best exclusives, hands down." It isn't until mid-life of a console that that becomes obvious, if it ever does.

Personally, I'll be buying a Wii. Why? Because I miss the old SNES games, that's why, and I refuse to pay that much for a game console to buy the 360 or PS3. I don't care what format of media it plays, I'm not buying a Blu Ray or HDDVD player until one emerges the clear winner of the latest format wars. I don't care if they play music or browse the internet. I buy a game console to play games, and for something I'm only going to play games on, they're both too expensive.

And really, pointing out which console has the most bugs is just silly. They all have design problems, that's why you shouldn't buy them until they've been worked out. ;)

I was kinda refering to the PS controller in general. I dont like the idea of the triggers. If anything should be changed, it should be BACK to the Dual Shock. But he commented on it should be changed because its 'old'. Its old because its good, I think.

I have to agree with you on that one, although I have to say that triggers work well with the Xbox controller, imo. They just feel awkward on the PS3 controller.

And I dont think the 360's controller is comfortable at all. It always gives my hand cramps when i play on it, compared to the PS2 or Gamecube's controllers.

That's probably because you have smaller hands. I have relatively larger hands than average, so the PS2 and (especially) the Gamecube controllers seem slightly uncomfortable to me. The Xbox controller, though, fits like a glove (Except for the original Xbox controller; I hate even thinking about that thing).

Uhhhhh... like I've stated a few pages back, Assassin's Creed is coming out for the 360 as well.
Also, there are no real plans for another Silent Hill game, you just made that one up. Same thing for Soul Calibur 4. As far as you know, those could very well come out for the 360.

And if you're staying with the PS3 because of Final Fantasy, remember that Final Fantasy XI came out for the 360 too. Final Fantasy XIV could very well end up on the 360 or the Wii, you just never know.

Didn't make `em up. They were listed in a PSM list for 2008 games. And I said ALL of the games I listed had to be for the 360 in order for me to choose it over the PS3.

Re-read the article. It was probably a wish-list of 2008 games. Either that or PSM made them up too.

I agree, especially about the games making the console great. But I also say the controllers take a large part, seeing as you're not going to want to play a game if the controller is stupid. I also agree that all consoles are deffective when the first come out.

The 360's controller is very nice. Indeed as BusterSword777 said you probably just have small hands. But then again, the 360 controller is actually closer to the PS2's size. But, how the hell can anyone find comfort with the Gamecube's controller. I hate even thinking about that.

But anyways, someone said that the 360 scratches disks. Not completely true. My friend and I have had our 360s for about year now and they haven't scratched not one disk.

Then you have small hands. I can use the XBOX 360 controllers just fine.

Honestly, the 360 offers more right now, but we shouldn't judge this til the PS3 has some time to get onto it's feet.

Edit:Btw, FFXIII isn't a PS3 exclusive, so you can't use that as an excuse.

*cough* um, that isnt for SURE yet. There is a RUMOR that FFXIII *might* not be exclusive. Therefore, it could still end up being exclusive, so i can use that excuse until that rumor is settled =D

Yeah, the 360s triggers are better. I dont think the PS3 should have done the triggers too @_@ just not very comfortable with the controller set up or something.

And yeah, I do have small hands. Thats why I like small controllers XD;;

I'm sure not all the systems do. But many of them seem too. Especially the earlier ones. And they havent exactly fixed it in a lot of the newer ones either.

Oh! And my friends 360 just died yesterday XD it just completely died. He has to send it in and pay 130 bucks to get it fixed. He doesnt know why, just something inside of it died or something. He was so sad.

Both FFXIII and Versus have only been announced for the PS3, but most notably the FFXIII engine, the White engine, won't run on the 360. Ever.

My only gripe about the 360 controller (besides the craptastic D-pad) is the way the bumpers are placed. Because it leads up into the bumpers/triggers with the body of the controller, your index fingers are awkwardly placed to reach the bumpers. Any game that uses the bunpers alot bugs my hands.

If you don't like the controller that comes with a console, get a third party controller. Controllers should not be a deciding factor in buying a console. ':| Except maybe in the case of the Wii, since I suppose the the games that rely on the remote wouldn't work all that well with a classic style controller. But it is important to note that all the virtual console games can be played with a classic controller.

I've bought a 3rd party controller, which is a hell of a lot better, but I just hate the controller's design. this is off-topic though.

@Zankoku no Yami: Did your friend buy his 360 when it first came out by any chance?

I vaguely agree with Ccoa when I say that I don't even know why anyone would start a thread over which system is better.

If I said I like playing "Pong" on the Atari better than playing "GTA: Vice City", does that make Atari better than the PS2? Nope. Because some individual will start griping about how GTA has much better graphics, gameplay, features, audio, blah, etc.

The best games are spread across ALL of the systems. Naturally, not everyone can buy every system, which is why we have to calculate which systems we, as individuals, will have the most fun playing.

That's right: FUN.

Not graphics, not what kind of dumb drive a system has, or what kind of even dumber processing power something has, the only thing that matters when we play our games is FUN. That's their whole purpose in existence.

My opinion (which could very well be fact): Just as all men (AND women) are created equal, so are all video game systems.

Sephiroth7734, I never really found Pong fun. I found very annoying, cause i can't even last long enough with that game.

Consoles strive for better performance for a better gameplay and fun.
Although one console may have a lot of fun games, another may have fun and interestingly new systems of play. It differs a lot really.

If we are all so equal we would have never reached this state of intelligence and we might have been so similar to monkeys. Inequality is what gives us our will to strive for becoming better. That is why some think that life could've been better and make radical changes on how we do things!

Well back to topic, PS3! PS3 is better (instead of running, rallies around and make noise)!

Xbox 360 for life!

I love my little white humming box, Halo 3 will make a big impact on the PS3, more game developers are moving over to Xbox now, so we will see lots more games.

Personally I hate PS2 and PS3, (I loved PS1!) the Playstation 3 has the spiderman font on its title, and it looks like a barbecue, the original controller for the PS3http://www.maxps3.com/wp-content/upl ... Redesi.jpg[/img]
looked like a weird alien s*x toy, but then decided to keep the original controller design that they have used since the release of the PS1, the Xbox 360 controller melts into your hand, it feels great (to hold...)

BluRay isn't that special, and the Xbox360 has a HD DVD player for $200USD which I imagine will play HD games in the future.

Yours, Sam.

-_-

I don't even know where to start with your post, Samanjaro. Consoles are not a religon, blind faith and worship is not required. Also what's not required are untruths stretched to make your brand of faith seem better.

1) The font for the PS3 is not the "Spiderman" font, Sony used the same font they used for the PS3 for Spiderman 3. They can do that, because they made both. Personally, I think it was a bad choice, but it's not a reason the PS3 sucks by a long shot. How will a logo effect your playing a game on a console?

2) It looks like a BBQ? Are you actually going to be looking at your console while you play a game? I mean, the GameCube looks like a freakin' toaster, but I love mine to death.

3) That is not the controller design. That was a prototype that was nixed early in development. Over six months ago, that news is. Behind, you are. Like Yoda, I talk.

4) Blu Ray, like Betamax to VHS, is superior to HDDVD. That doesn't mean it will win the format wars (Sony's Betamax died spectacularly), but that sort of "it sucks because it's not for my console" makes me cringe.

Thank you, Ccoa. At least I have the same opinion as our Forum Mom.

Oh, and Kimpoy. I don't really like Pong better than GTA. I was just using that as an example. But I DO like Pitfall better than GTA, but that still dosn't make either system better than the other.

And when I said all people were created equal, I meant in terms of RIGHTS, not ability. Haven't you ever heard of Abraham Lincoln??

Sorry Sephiroth I live in the other side of the world, I don't study American history (well, not yet). I've heard of him but never really knew what he did that made him soooo great. Ahahahahaha btw whats pitfall? The old concept of the PS3 controller looked more like a boomerang (swooooshh!!!!). I'm glad they trashed it. Oh yea thats a good one ccoa, but it kinda destroys the this whole argument. Well, that doesn't stop me from rallying that the PS3 is better!

(runs around and makes noise about how good the PS3 is...)

I have a xbox, and a ps2, both are good, both can suck, if you got not enough money, buy the one you prefer when it comes to the games you like, although, as a good buyer, try it first. if you got money for both, buy both, if you like both.. that's all, there's not really superiority of a console over another one.

Kimpoy, Abraham Lincoln was president during the American Civil War, where the Union of states fought the Confedaracy who wanted to form their own nation where it was legal to own slaves.

In short, Abraham Lincoln is credited as having made slavery illegal in the United States, back in the late 1800s. Although, some might argue that they weren't really freed until segregation was abolished much later, he was still exceptionally integral to getting the civil rights movement started.

Back on topic, I'm pretty pissed about both consoles right now. I want more RPGs! Come on Eternal Sonata! Anything!

I liked the boomerang.

Abraham Lincoln has also taken credit by many people as one of the best presidents our country has ever had. Certainly a lot better then Bush (But this is another story...)

@arc:If you can wait a few months, Blue Dragon is coming out. It's a really good game.

Ohhhhhhhh.... I see, but I think the world still has slaves. I mean, our family has like 4 household helpers. They're like well, umm, slaves?(Well by what I mean they do most of the household chores and cleaning the toilet and other dirty stuff). So, I think the word slaves has just been unused. Ehehehehe
back to topic!

You know the PS3 is really good I can feel it. (I don't have one yet, YET)

I want a PS3, too. Six games I want are on it.

And unless your servants are being tortured and aren't being paid, they're not "slaves", they're maids and butlers.
