Post What's on Your Mind

I'm flying out to Stockholm tomorrow Wednesday to meet the Minecraft team at Mojang

Edit: oh yeah also had an interview at Sony CEE (again) today

I was dancing and apparently the it shook the floor enough to knock my television off of it's foot things

it's broken and it's 3AM and I'm angry

I forget what stage in the cycle I'm in. I'm supposed to get re-addicted to GW2 at some point. Done the FFVII stage. Done the RuneScape stage. Done the general pit of doom depression stage and raging and about to quit my job stage. So it must be MMORPG time.

Why do I always procrastinate when I have to move and pack for moving houses...now I'm packing with five days left until we move, lol

As a result, much of my projects are on hiatus until I'm done packing my room unless mum wants me to help move any of the heavy furniture like our windowed-hutch or pack stuff like the dishes.

Also, it's surreal learning Kanye Quest 3030 is apparently attached to a cult?

Bought a switch lite for pokemon Shield. I regret it
Should have got Minecraft on Switch. Just sayin'.

Not sure it's a Pokemon game worthy of billing a "killer-app" for the Switch. My girlfriend completed, had a great time, but she hasn't picked up her Switch again. There's hundreds of great Switch games out there, I suggest you start checking those out to get more value out of the console.

I played AI Dungeon 2, which is a text adventure game generated by an AI. It's surprisingly - idk, lucid? Coherent? the first couple responses. After that it'll freeze up or start repeating the same actions or phrases.
It also gets a little rapey.

So like, I used a Fantasy Setting with a Wizard character. I found a werewolf named Grolik. It's pretty amazing. Normally with AI chat bots they can't retain any context of a conversation. But here's it's like, my wizard character levitated to a forest and climbed down a tree. Picking fruit. And then the werewolf showed up and startled me. I dropped an apple and it rolled over to the werewolf who sniffed it and "started eating it's flesh"
I was really impressed with this chain of events. But then interacting with the character got XXX rated fast.
>I pet the werewolf
You reached under the werewolf's armpits and start stroking his *****.

Ooook. So I had just cybersex with an AI. And then it got stuck in a loop of:
You fell asleep together
You got up. Then you fell asleep together
You begin to. You begin to sleep. Together. You. You. Sleeping.
Thewerewolf. Thewerewolf. thewerewolf.....

But if I restart the game. I can meet Grolik again. He's apparently evil, killed everyone in a village, and is motivated to destroy the world. He likes to whisper in my ear about destroying the world. But beyond that the game will freeze trying to generate a response from Grolik.
He stares at you for several moments and then says....and then the game hangs up.
The AI seems much more capable with describing actions.

Did the site go down? I'm busy with the holiday rush.
I moved my sister's furniture out of her main floor this spring because she was remodeling her Kitchen. It was suppose to be a few months, but it took all year. Finally moved it all back in. Got her kids RC cars, for christmas, with clear tires that should be good for their new floors.
My sisters insist I don't spend money on them this year. Which means I have to spend TIME making something for them. Which they'll probably throw out because it doesn't match their decor.

I woke up in the middle of the night feeling the side of my neck. I was sleeping on my wrist before, so it just felt weird. The pressure change with a numb hand. And I was like "It finally happened. I got a tumor. I thought that mole was suspicious. Oh well...too late now. Guess I'll die." And I rolled over back to sleep.
I almost forgot about it until this afternoon when I rubbed my neck. It came back to me, and I was like, "oh yeah! Guess I'm ok."

Any idea how the AI-created RPG got its source material? I wonder if there's a standard format for RPG dialog and quests that's easily parsed by a machine. It would be nice to feed a few thousand RPGs to a neural net and see if it can make something coherent.

I wonder if AI is going to have much of an effect on programming or art. I think that with the amount of effort it would take someone to tell an AI what a program should do, and then fix the AI's mistakes, it would be easier to just program it yourself. And waifu generators have gotten pretty good, but I wonder what the state of music generation is.

With the number of sprites I've made for Himeko Sutori (I'm going to say it must be almost 1000 by now) could I give a neural net walking frames, and let it generate attack frames? If they turned out well, that could really increase the number of items I could put in the game. Maybe not this game, but perhaps a future game. If I ever finish this game and get back to playing with AI.

No idea. I wonder if it's generating dialog to meet some characterization specification? It does weird stuff.
The old man points you in the direction of the inn.
>Bite the man's finger
You chomp down and tear off the man's fingers using your teeth, spraying your clothes and the ground with blood. The old man looks at you and laughs.

Why is he laughing? Is it because this NPC is specified to be friendly and jolly, so that's the only way he can respond? I don't know.
Other people have made the same observations as me, that the AI is far better at generating action than dialogue. Granted, good dialogue is tricky, I'm still trying to teach myself how to do it well.
The AI just rolls with whatever you say. So it's mostly empty spectacle.
