they have Final Fantasy 7-12 (minus 11) for purchase on the switch and I’m seriously considering purchasing all of them. I already bought 8 because I never beat it and I’m buying 12 because I never beat it. I’m feeling like I might as well just go all out.

i have a sneaking suspicion one of the games i love is going to go away soon. it's primarily p2p but it has a central server for item tracking and chat etc.

does anyone know of any materials i can check out when making a custom server for an existing game, like processes to make the trial and error more efficient?
i'm familiar with socket programming, wireshark etc and ive made servers for my own games before, but I don't know what the best way of approaching retrofitting an existing game would be.

Basically record as much network traffic as you possibly can. Your goal is to write software that spoofs that traffic and then figure out what the data actually means.
If encrypted sessions are used then it'll be very difficult.

it doesnt look like it's encrypted

are there any strategies in terms of working out what are ints, shorts, etc or is it just a case of pure trial and error?

also are there any tools that i can whack a bunch of bytes in and specify templates etc?

EDIT: might just make something in .net real quick to do it dw

Been moving my grandma's stuff out of her apartment. And then I'll probably be moving my sisters furniture eventually.

Edit: nothing wrong with my sister. She's just been in a remodel limbo all year.

Happy Halloween. I look forward to being home tonight. Dunno what I'm going to do. Eat popcorn. Play a game. I should whip out my tablet. Haven't drawn in a long time.

While driving home yesterday I watched a black cat run across the road to the other side. Then double back right as a truck on it, weaving between the tires. It survived.
Is that bad luck, double bad luck, or good luck?

It's a glitch in the Matrix. Did anyone near your turn into an Agent?

We're finally getting internet at my grandma's house. That'll make the trips out there a lot more comfortable. I've been burning my mobile data like crazy the last couple months.

Rpg maker net has gone down. Idk if it's temporary. Last I saw, they were taking donations for server hosting.

RPG Maker Web is still up, somehow. They're re-releasing the older RM's RTP for MV. IMO. It kinda looks like someone painted over an upscale of Rasenjin's illustrations. It's uncanny. But of course I'm biased because I studied Rasenjin artwork for a long time. It's mostly the eyes that bug me.

I also have a sneaking suspicion that they've been sitting on these resources for years now. The Japaneses Shrine Packs had a few bonus RMXP battlers packaged with them. I'm sure they were meant to be a promotional incentive.
I can't tell if these are the same battlers or not because the previews are covered with -sample sample sample- What the hell? Who is making these terrible marketing decisions?

Edit:
So I bought the DLC and looked it over. The XP battlers are not Rasenjin's or even the bonus material that was distributed in other DLC pacts. Someone redrew them to be almost identical in dress and pose, but the faces and hands a done in a different style. Rasenjin's signature spiral glyphs have been replaced with squiggly lines. It's detailed, I'll give them that.
The sprites are well made. But it's just the human characters. They included the monster battlers, but non of the monsters sprites, animals, or objects to go with them.
The Battle backgrounds have just been lazily upscale and cropped. You can still see remnants of the index color checkering, so they must not have any of the original files around.
For what it is, it's acceptable I guess. But there's some holes in it that makes it far from perfect.
