I don't think I was around for the glory days of HB Games. I joined, what, about five years ago? I would check, but think of the effort. I was never around when there were hundreds of active users.
Damn. I've bee the here for 13 years. I think its just me and amy left from the good ol rmxp.net days

I've been around for about 12 years. Although I don't remember much about the early days since I was about 13 at the time and that whole era of my life is kind of a blur. I went by CanadaATW back then and I'd appreciate it if everybody forgets about that.

Holy shit I just realized that I've been here (on and off) about half my life. Congratulations, you are my longest standing relationship outside of family and a few choice friends.

Just found out there's a massive community of RPG Maker MV porn games for Android phones (wtf?) and they all use my Android MV deployment client.

I wouldn't have expected a large number of RPG Maker MV porn games for Android, but now that I know, I wouldn't say that I'm especially surprised. Did they at least have to pay to use your Android MV deployment client?

It's free because people would have went with the free, shitty alternatives if I tried to sell it. MV developers - in general - do not care about quality so wouldn't pay for it.

The project accepts donations ($0 received) and I'll offer paid support for commercial applications (so far the hundreds of commercial MV Android games using my client don't want my not-free help).

Makes for a decent way to measure commercial interest in MV from a developer perspective over the months (I actually use this data).

Ex-Gemini: Feels good to be finally free. 500 billion years locked outside of existence.

Tye: Excuse me, but why were you born asian? Your mom's nordarian, and I'm advorian.

Ex-Gemini: Dad, I wanted an exotic human vessel. Besides, no one would expect a little asian girl to be the ultimate being in all of existence.

Tye: Obviously you haven't seen anime.

Ex-Gemini: One second..... Yep, I just saw all of them. My omniscience was off. Life gets pretty boring if you're all knowing. Japan was a mistake...

Syla: If you're really omnipresent that would mean you're up my ass right now. Ha!

Ex-Gemini: Unfortunately yes. I occupy every space in existence. I'm turning that shit off right now! I hate you, Syla! You just ruined omnipresence!

Ex-Gemini: Who's this GOD guy everyone keeps talking about? He sounds like a real egotistical jerk. If anyone worshipped me every week, and thanked me for things I didn't do, I'll kill their asses.

Ex-Gemini: 7 days to create a planet like Earth? Was he drunk ? I can literally blink universes into existence. Hell, my farts spawn 'Big Bangs'... Dad, they're invisible and silent... It's a dimensional fart... Stop laughing...

My ultimate hybrid, Kate Ex-Gemini. She developed a sense of humour.

As a kid I really hated TV shows/Movies with a cartoon intro, but it's not a cartoon at all.

Such a sucker punch to kids born in the 80's. I'm sure Japan didn't have to worry about that lame bullshit move.

Happy Valentine's day. Shout out to those who are still single. Don't give up.

Nagging wives actually kill their husbands faster unintentionally. Scientifically proven.

Had no Internet this weekend besides my phone. Found a comic I had translated but never finished typesetting. That was like 3 years ago. And I only had a few pages left. Story of my life.

I have the strongest being in the history fiction.

The only fiction that comes close to mine is in terms of absolute power is Suggsverse.

Google head hunted me, spoke with them, had two interviews, did pretty badly on the first one and they turned me down just now. I was focusing on this for the past few weeks, giving me great stress and frankly I'm heart broken right now. The job was so perfect for me, it aligned with everything I do - I would have been perfect for it.

During these interviews I independently re-invented the algorithms to solve the given problems, I thought that would have demonstrated some skill, but it's apparent that Google want you to already know the algorithms for their given problems - likely to leave room for discussion about merits of them and optimisation techniques after showing you know them. First interview I spent the entire time inventing my algorithm and implementing it, left no-room for discussion (I knew it went badly). Second interview surprised me as there was pretty much all discussion at first then I implemented my algorithm at the end (algorithm was perfect, but my implementation had two syntax errors and I used the wrong variable in a section). You're not given an IDE/debugger, this is coding in a Google document.

This means I'm still going to be stuck in my shitty situation for a while. I put in a lot of work, effort and worry as I felt like this was perfect for me and I couldn't afford to let it slip and I did.

EDIT: Was sent material for interview 3 (on-site) preparation to show me what the next stage would have looked like if I got through, turns out that's when you're expected to re-invent algorithms for solutions.

I wish first person shooter games would go away for about 20 years. Way too many. RPG and RTS games needs a comeback. You know, games that actually require thinking and planning.

Who am I kinding, humans are getting dumber. Anything requiring any brain activity won't sell.
Fuck.... Thankfully a video game crash is coming.
(Nintendo will save the game industry again.)

Hey Xilef, I'm really sorry to hear that things didn't work out. Coding in a Google Document sounds horrible. Do you know if the cutoff for round 3 was based only on interview 2, or do you think interview 1 held you back from interview 3?

If it's any consolation, there are probably very few coders who could have gotten even that far, and you can most assuredly count yourself among the best just for being considered.

I don't know what specific kind of work you're looking for, but a friend of mine at Microsoft recommended that I take a look at their openings. They have a lot more than the sit-in-Redmond-and-write-code positions I imagine. He thought I would enjoy working as a field engineer. Maybe some of the other tech giants have something you'd like to do.

Again, I'm so sorry to hear that this didn't work out. But you are definitely one of the best coders I know, and I'm sure you'll find something soon.

Interview 1 and 2 combined for the decision on round 3. However, if interview 1 was absolutely atrocious, then interview 2 would not happen. The fact that I actually solved the problem and wrote some great code saved interview 1 for me, I think. Really had to study up and work hard for interview 2, which was a massive improvement, but wasn't good enough.

I wasn't looking for work, a Google recruiter reached out to me because my skillset aligns with a specific specialist project they're starting up, so part of me feeling so upset about this is that I let those guys down as they had wanted me to get through the interviews.
