A RPG?
An RPG?
I usually use "An" because it sounds right, but R isn't a vowel.
I finally looked up the correct grammar rule. Since you say it with a vowel sound you would say "An Arr-Pee-Gee."
Makes sense. You say "an hour"
A unicorn. An umbrella.
Things I've probably been writing wrong when it comes to acronyms.
An MP3 (em-pee-three)
An ipod.
Then again, I guess it depends if you're reading it as an acronym or just an abbreviation. Do you see "OMG" as "oh-em-gee" or would you actually say "Oh my god"
"An Arr-Pee-Gee." or "A Role-Playing Game". I can go both ways, so that's probably why I can be inconsistent within the same paragraph. My mind wants to add variation from sentence to sentence. So I'll go between thinking the acronym in one, to just abbreviating it the next. Even though it looks the same, it sounded different in my head.
