Dad is both the reason I've been somewhat successful in life and the reason I'm such a mess.
If you've got to where you are for the sake of your dad then are you really successful? I don't know you or your family, but could be you've been working to be successful by your dad's standards and you haven't gone out to do what makes you happy?

I think it's what we both want. I've always wanted to be a doctor and I've always wanted to live in the US (at least since high school). As for the happy part, I don't really know what makes me happy. I've been going to the theatre, concerts, ballets, and that makes me happy for a while.

I've been trying to keep a nice routine of coding going. Like. Code every day.
It's going well, for me...
I've coded every day for the past 6 days. Tomorrow will mark a full week of coding!
I've learnt a heck of a lot, and feel like I'm going to get a lot better if I keep up this pace! I've also been trying to do a thread (in my personal forum) for the project I'm planning, but I'm having issues with articulating what I am actually planning... I'll get to it tomorrow though.

Awesome Bro

Lately I've been thinking about a game idea that I've had for years, and tried to make twice in the past, once with RMXP when I first discovered it, and one time with VX Ace before my hard drive died and I lost everything to do with it... if I ever manage to make even one full game, this is what I want it to be, but I don't want it to look/feel like an RPG Maker game, despite wanting to use the engine since it's the one I'm most comfortable with and requires less effort to get systems up and running.

The only things stopping me from trying again are the lack of motivation and remembering how much effort goes into making things...

I'm hoping they fuck it up and make a 3DS/PSVita game about mobile-style apps for kids.
My pitch angle was something for the 20th anniversary of Digimon (next year) and targeting the same (western) audience who watch Digimon Adventure Tri.

If all falls apart, I could probably make a new IP out of the idea. "Stella's Dungeon" from Hyperdimension Neptunia ReBi2 and 3 was another inspiration behind this pitch, so it could likely survive as a new IP. Just need to figure out the direction to go (I wouldn't go with monsters if it isn't Digimon).

Running a company that makes more money a week than I used to make in a month is hard

moemon is where its at
I'm very happy that I Google'd "moemon"; it's given me some inspiration towards an original IP that follows the same core game-play design.

Just need to come up with ideas now and start on a new prototype.

I looked up some "similar" games on the Play Store. They're all so, so bad and constantly open up web pages - for some weird reason.

I had an idea ages ago about a virtual doll app, but abandoned the idea as it was rather difficult to develop properly. This could be the right model for it.

So my current thinking is; Cute little moe girls, dress them up in armour, send them out on an adventure, if they get in trouble or bump into other moe girls then your phone will be notified, after you've travelled X number of steps the adventure comes to an end and they report back what they found, what monsters they've killed, etc. These stats are on a scrolling timeline and you can tap an event to see a cute mini-animation at the side of your moe girl doing the event (like, attacked by a slime monster could show your moe girl waving her weapon at the slime monster).

Need to figure out the money-making model. My initial thoughts are something where you find items on your adventures, but you can also pay to get special items. Buy special costumes, weapons, etc. When you encounter another player's moe girl, you'll see their costume in all its glory.

When you've bought something (anything) from the store, you gain premium features such as automatically buy food or band-aids for your moe girl during her adventures (no more notifications - and the adventure won't get cut short). Maybe have an in-game currency with this? I can imagine some cool animations of your character getting a snack from a vending machine part-way through her adventure, automatically spending some of the cash gained from the monster killing.

This would basically be Stella's Dungeon + Street Pass + PokeWalker + Virtual Doll.

EDIT: What would be really funny is if your phone hasn't moved for a long period of time (7 hours?) and then you open the game without moving the device and you see your character in her pyjamas brushing their teeth with sleepy eyes. Or if it's really early maybe even have the character in bed asleep still.
