Post What's on Your Mind

So my mom was awake when I got home at 4:00 AM and she asked me where I was, and it seems a bit weird to tell her I was drinking at a bar alone for the past four hours. I did talk to a few girls.

Went to buy the cheapest laptop possible but the bloke in PC World was such a gitbag trying to hard sell me wifi that I just left. Should have left the iPad too if I'm honest. Never going to PC World again, well done guys you've lost a few hundred quid there.

Sell WiFi? As in, the concept of WiFi? You can't "buy" WiFi...

PC world is only good for sourcing business hardware these days. Useless for consumers when it comes to computers. Their Apple stuff is mostly cheaper than the Apple store, which is a plus.

Wifi as in some ee box that lets you connect to free internet around places that I didn't want. He kept saying it's free then mumbling under his breath that it's £2.50 a month and something about £9.99; when I asked what he was selling me he just kept saying it's free, etc.

I still want to pack my job in to work on my game. I have it all planned out, I'm just too chicken.

Don't pack your job in until you have enough in the bank to burn and are willing to spend £15 a week on food. Literally drinking water and eating vegetables and mushrooms.

When people ask "how can some people simple quit their job and work on a game?" the answer is they either have a second source of income or they are subscribing to a life of near-poverty.

Also, you want a good chunk of the game to be built already with complete planning done.

A schoolmate of mine recently quit his job to pursue his YouTube and Twitch channels "full-time." He has 18 subscribers and only streams via the built in functions on the PS4.

He moved back in with his parents.

Or, you can go back to living with your parents, which I don't recommend.

*Long sigh*

On another note, today I woke up in a hostel with some foreign girl. The girl could've been prettier. And I'm never drinking again.

Oh don't worry, I'd never do anything stupid. I always spend the same amount every month (plus what I give my dad), and I have 12x that amount saved up now. I also have the assurance of my old boss that I'm welcome back any time if it goes horribly wrong.

I'd give up after 2 months if I wasn't getting anywhere.

The main thing is that being my own boss would let me do all the things I want to I do that I'd never be able to do at work. Have also heard stories about people at work and it turns out a couple of them aren't very nice, shall we say, when they've met trans people on nights out...

All I want for Christmas is you the determination and discipline required to get Sore Losers: Riot Grrrl finished, and for everything about it to meet the unrealistically high standards that I've now set myself, all so that I can work on the tens of less-serious, less-lofty game ideas I have in my head without feeling guilty about doing so.

Alternatively, a really good bourbon wouldn't go amiss. Any suggestions given that I normally stick to Scottish/Irish whiskeys..?

Idk if its the author or the eBook. I've read 2 of his books over the weekend but I don't feel accomplished. The second one wasn't even 200 pages; that might be it. But I'm afraid to read his longer epic fantasy novels. Brandon Sanderson has this cosmere mythos stringing a bunch of his world's together. Some of them are novellas and others look like 800 page - book one of trilogy two of universe B. Intimidating. And I have no self control so I easily disappear for a few months while reading these.
