A sample of some stuff I'm working on for yet another game I'm saying I'm gonna make but really won't. It's going to be a bizarre fusion of Yume Nikki and Alice in Wonderland. Still very WIPish, but yeah, I'm trying for a style that isn't incredibly detailed so I can actually produce things.
 
Great stuff, but I don't like the curvature of some of the "trees". They don't curve very smoothly and some of the lines seem a little ragged. You've also abandoned shading on the trees so they look quite flat in comparison to the buildings.

The buildings themselves are great in their simplicity. When you come to adding later versions, I'd encourage you to make a more diverse range.

At the moment the game almost seems set under the sea to me because of the way the buildings are waving. A bit Sharky and George!
 
Yeah, I was going for quantity over quality with the intent of maybe finishing something for once in my life (lololol), but thanks! I'll revisit it when I get a chance.

I revisited the platformer mock. Thoughts now?


Leaves are still rough, but I'm starting to believe I may actually finish the tree! Still have no idea whatsoever what I'm doing with the foreground. Taking suggestions if anyone has any.
 
I'd imagine dead grass and leaves judging by the season. Or cracked stone if you were wanting a barren look.
You were going to save room for a hud, right?
 
Idk, my original idea for this was something science fictiony, but idk if I can be bothered coming up with an elaborate thing.

Uh, I was gonna put it in the lower left because the tree is taking up the upper right. Or I can just do a separate bar on the top and chop off some of the foreground.
 
I think the lighting is still kind of iffy, but check it out!

Ya, the lighting compared to the tree-trunk and player sprite and the seems a bit off.

I really love those leaves though. And the palette is so aesthetically pleasing in my opinion that I fall in a trance of wonder.

The only other issue I see is the fact that the character sprite isnt as detailed as the rest of the scene.

Oh one more thing, the mountains seem really close compared with the tree. This may be because its not completed but its something to look out for. c:
 
yes, it is. I think there should be a tad more shading in some areas of the leaves towards the right, but remember, Im not a master artist.

Also when I was talking about the mountains, I was talking about the position of the mountains. Its not the color, but where everything is located. Those front mountains seem ever closer. o:
 


I don't really see the depth thing, but hopefully it'll look better when I add more stuff. If not, I'll revisit it. Color of mountains subject to change.

Working on a HUD/mockup for my game. I think the portraits are still kind of dodgy, especially Nine's. So bad at metal. :I Edit: And by Nine I mean Ten or some number that isn't nine because people are telling me they think it's a Borg reference. I don't watch Star Trek, dammit. :(
