I personally am not big on PvP and probably won't be doing most of my building in a town. I like to build out in the boonies by myself or with a couple people on collaborative projects, but I'd probably build a townhouse too just to do it. So with that in mind, I would prefer the map not be all PVP by default, but if I can claim big areas for myself that are non-PVP and allow other people to build there if they want, then I'm okay with it.

if we just do a mostly creative map
one thing I would request is that we are not given building materials no matter what
you have to mine your own mineral and chop your own trees
even if someone is doing a ridiculously large project~

I have an idea
that would satisfy both parties

In the middle you have your server HUB apartment and land development station
Then the map is split up into two parts
the first half is strictly lets build shit

the other half is strictly PVP
but

most of the dungeons and stuff are on the PVP area of the map
and mineral spawns a lot more on the PVP area
so basically, the PVP area is a place where there is a lot more stuff and rewards but it is also dangerous and you need to be careful
we could also have other benefits for building and maintaining a house in the PVP section
high risk high reward~

and when I mean PVP I mean killing people and chest stealing not house deconstruction assery

I think that there should be more benefits for doing something a bit more dangerous
I mean if the PVP and the Creative side both have the same stuff then there is no point of PVP

It is August 17th and Minecraft 1.8 has not been released. It has saddened me that a once proud website has resorted to cheap false advertisement to get views in its threads. I am leaving the site now so that hopefully I can forget this disgusting incident that has marred what has otherwise been a series of fond memories.

Hey Ven, I'm taking a look at Bukkit plugins. This one for giant trees looks pretty awesome:
http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/fun-mi ... 000.21325/
I think the one that I built, the one I sent you, is nicer, but this could be good for variety. I guess I have a thing for giant trees in block games.

This might be cool. Portals between areas: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/tp-cre ... 000.22732/

This sounds cool--it adds lots of vegetation--but the pics aren't loading, so I can't tell for sure. Requires a client mod too but doesn't break things if you don't have the client mod. http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/fun-mi ... 1000.7871/

I think I would rather just drop in schematic ones. I already have a few giant tree schematics of my own, as well. Code-run land-shaping plugins have a tendency of being stressful on a server when it's started up or when it saves ...

that IS pretty cool. I guess it would eliminate the need for lots of train tunnels. Though I like train tunnels :<
I was already going to implement a personalized teleporter system, so ... hmm. I wonder if I can modify this one to teleport you wherever? I rather prefer this system's method of having a physical "portal" over my simple "type x go here" method.

there're a few vegetation plugins that look super interesting and i'm trying to decide on one of them. this one's on my list of the ones to choose from.

as an addendum to the ctf mode, how about this: it is ongoing, meaning it never ends. the team who controls the flag (or sexy model of venetia) gets something beneficial to them while they hold it at its designated holding zone. say it doubles their mining efficiency? maybe makes fall damage cut in half? who knows, that's half the fun. that way there's no need for monitoring, there's no resetting (except in the case where it falls into lava or cannot be found somewhere, which maybe it should have a glow around it to distinguish it in pure darkness at the least), and it would allow for a constant goal between the two sides. perhaps we'll have to make the flag room self defended against maybe 2 people at most, while 3+ can easily take the flag/sexy model of venetia.
I would imagine that the fun of that would peter out over time. it seems like planned games where there are lots of people getting on at the same time would be more exciting than a constant game which is only ever manned by 2, perhaps 3-5 people at any given time... I could be wrong I guess. Once I have the fucker up and running, I could give this a shot and see if it takes off.

yeah i'm disappointed too--really thought that the 17th would be the day. oh well :<

(i really hope you're not saying that I perpetrated this ... "disgusting event" (lol)?? I said very clearly that it was a rumor I'd heard and not based in any hard facts. i certainly didn't say it as a means of false advertisement ... and anyway, like i said, i wouldn't be getting the server up until about a week after the update, so i can build the world and populate the plugins with all up-to-date stuff.)

anyway there are more things i have to respond to but i need to hit the hay; i've been expending all my effort in work during the day, and setting up schematics by night :x

HEY GUYS 3 QUICK QUESTIONS,

1. What team colors do you want?

You can choose from the following wool colors:
(Some colors are missing from the choices ... I'll explain later)

- Cyan/Blue-green
- Red
- White
- Yellow
- Orange
- Lime Green
- Pink
- Purple
- Light Blue

2. What team mobs do you claim?

This'd be paired with your color to make your team name. So you could be the Pink Sheep or the White Wolves, for instance.
Creepers are missing from the list as everyone would want to be on the Creeper team 9_9.
Ghasts are missing from the list as they're enormous and you can't put them in a container (they'd just explode out of it).
Spider-mounted Skeletons are missing b/c ... C'mon. seriously
Non-vanilla, non-1.7 mobs are missing b/c ... I'm not going to bother explaining

- Sheep
- Pig
- Chicken/Duck
- Cow
- Wolf
- Zombie
- Pigman
- Zombie Pigman
- Skeleton
- Spider
- Squid
- Slime

2. What team biomes/terrain types do you claim?

Your main "team base" will be located in different biomes/terrains. (Of course you can build your own bases anywhere you want; this is for your most basic, non-destructible fort only).
You can't choose desert wastes--that's where the main city is located.
You can't choose nether--I shouldn't have to explain, lol.

- Temperate (hilly) forest
- Jungle/Rainforest
- Cold/mountainous forest
- Tundra/frozen wastes
- Savannah/chaparral
- Temperate grassland/flatland
- Beachside (probably in a temperate biome)

(I'll toss up a vote when some of the options are narrowed down)

haha these ideas are cute :3

So far we've got ...

Cyan Slimes of the Slopes [frozen mountains]

Cyan Skeletons of the Forest Primeval [jungle]

White Wolves of the Tundra

Crimson Spiders of the Timberland

Purple Pigmen of the Palisades [mountains]

I'll toss in:

Pink Pigs de la Playa [beach]

Verdigris Squids of the Veldt [grassland]

Chartreuse Chickens of the Chapparal

Jade Zombies of the Jungle

Coral Cows of the Coast

any others?

New poll is up!

Last day for team name voting! Looks like we have 2 clear front-runners! Rally for the team name(s) you like most in your signature, or in PWOYM or something! Go go!

Potential question for tomorrow ya'll:
[Chime in!]

What amenities [all of which will be modifiable] do you want to be freely available in your team bases at server start?
(Check up to 4 that you'd like in the base - I will pre-add those which get the most votes.)

- A barracks. (Rectangular building, housing bunkbeds, and a number of lockable chests)

- A general store. (Where you could pay Cogs to purchase wooden tools, wood planks, torches, glass, and your team's color of wool from here.)

- A plot allocated for farming. (Would only be a ~10x10 fenced-off area with a very small water source)

- A small watchpost on each wall corner. (Would be accessible via a ladder, so a player could climb up and look out for oncoming trouble.)

- A storehouse. (A silo-looking structure that holds approx. 10 non-lockable chests and 5 lockable chests.)

- Pre-built empty buildings. (If you don't feel like building houses etc. in the bases, I can fill the base for you with 100% modifiable structures, made of wood and cobbles, which you could then fill with things or decorate or demolish, etc.)

- A startup chest. (Only for those there at the server's start, they can find a chest full of wood, torches, team color wool, wooden tools, glass, and glowstone dust, to get started.)

- A moat. (A pre-dug moat surrounding the perimeter of the base, approx. 5 tiles deep and 5 tiles wide, filled with water. A bridge would lead over it to the main gate.)

- Nothing. (You can vote for this to support less additions -- however if this gets a vast majority vote, then I will not add anything at all.)

Note! Both bases will definitely already have (non-debatable):
  • An approx. 50x30 mostly-modifiable space within the walls, for buildings
  • Non-destructible walls skirting the perimeters, of themed material, approx. 10 blocks tall, whose posts are driven a variable number of blocks under ground level
  • Enough lighting to discourage aggressive mob spawns
  • A single, non-destructible main gate, which will be a basic portcullis that is powered by redstone levers on either side of the wall (the levers will be accessible via a little guardhouse attached to the gate).
  • Details themed with team color
  • A small, non-destructible enclosure for the team mascot
  • An 8x8x1 [modifiable] stone dais in the center of the base, upon which the first creative contest shall be held (details to follow when server is started)
  • A semi-cleared/non-lit path that leads from the base's gate to the main city, so newbies can find their way (this will be 100% modifiable).

+++ Add some suggestions for things to toss into the vote! +++
