honestly, idk why anyone would want the general store. all it will have are wooden things.. if we work as a team, we should already have infinite wooden things, anyway. seems like a waste of a slot imo

I have the starter bases mostly built up.
Per your votes, they will contain a barracks, general store, watchpost on each wall corner, and startup chest.

Technically, barracks & storehouse tied. So, I made the barracks a little less barracks-ier and added some more chests to it (so it's a combo!).

The main city is also mostly ready. (that will be a work in progress for me after server start).

Was going to include teaser pics, but I figured that leaving it all a surprise would be a lot more fun.

I need to know what time of the day would be best (in EST) for me to run maintenance and daily backups/etc.

I've been calling the main base HBGarrison for now, but I feel like it needs more pizzaz. It's set in a desert. Maybe something desert-y? Dealing with cogs or sprockets or ... idk

Also still need a world name. IDC if it's themed or anything. just wanted something cool sounding

why wouldn't you collect them normally? i'm going to also offer stores for those who have cogs to burn and dont feel like mining/crafting things.

Are collected resources gained from the creative allowed on the PvP continent?
That would be a troubling fact
Peoples' inventories are of no concern to me. If you collect something in one place, far be it from me to deny you from using it anywhere else. If that means that people go to mine the creative area to bring it back to the PvP area, it's of little concern, as they still had to work to get it. It should be noted, however, that it's a long trip to the creative area, and the resources are FAR more widely spread out there than in the PvP continent.

Not to mention, once they gather the stuff elsewhere, and try to run it back to their base, they run a large risk of being ganked on the way back!
I never recommend carrying large batches of valuable materials on you while running around on the PvP continent too far from your teammates & back-up!
If you die, your valuables drop!
If you die to your enemy, your enemies can always pick up your valuables!
And then you just majorly helped out the competition :x

ven, for trees i highly recommend checking out that tree map from that challenge back. There are some awesome, awesome trees in it that are super amazing

also,
I got this idea from playing the maps but
basically in each world in the challenge pack the goal is to collect colored wool and cloth from around the world in order to complete the victory monument
what if you made a super challenging dungeon for each of the cloths (not wool because people use these to build) for the PVP area
that way people fight over what cloth is where~

Fun fact: Excessive amounts of trees are a quick way to make a map very laggy very fast.

I really hope that Notch doesn't add some new content that you only find on newly generated maps, since Ven is clearly putting a lot of effort into having a pre-crafted map available at launch.

i mean things like NPC villages and stuff is something that we dont need
though it would be cool to have like terraria like conditions where NPCs move into room after certain guidelines are met~
 
i've been pretty careful to only make PIECES of map. i'm generating an all new map after the update and then adding these things to it.

When 1.8 comes out, we should keep our eyes peeled for a plugin that fixes the issue of experience -- it doesn't do anything at all until 1.9, and if someone high-level dies the sheer number of experience orbs they drop can just fuck the entire server. Eliminating it altogether is the clearest solution, but if there's something that just reduces the dropped amount it'd synergize better with things once 1.9 comes out. Although I guess we won't necessarily be using the same map by then.

e: Oh, looks like it'll be fixed by the official release. Never mind!
 
Okay! 1.8 is out! And I am setting out to work NOW!!!

If anyone has ANY last-minute suggestions, or contributions, please provide them!!!
